Basically shit has been simmering for a while because BlackChamber has been posting very popular threads about CyberPunk, a game that a small portion of Era thinks is transphobic due to a few issues that are pretty minor at best, BC has been on their radar because he's not kowtowed to their demands that he force people to respond to people calling CDPR hateful and force people to stop hyping up the game.

This broke bad when BC stated that, instead of posting a paragrarph explaining how hatefilled CDPR is in the official game release thread opening post, he will instead say everyone is welcome to talk and discuss the game.

This ENRAGED the aggreieved members who demanded he be banned, his thread closed, the entire game thread be focused entirelyu on the trandphobia issues and that a trans member be designated the creator over BC.

They then dug into his past posts and Twitter, found him liking a video about Naughty Dog's politics (I didn't watch it so someone can explain this better) and him saying he supports Trump (he's said he just said that to troll, it's not too important)

Suddenly this became the proof they needed that BC was an undercover Trump loving hyper skilled ultra 4D chess evil mastermind and any mods who supported him were cast into the lake of fire.

Currently BC is perma banned, all Cyber threads are closed except for the pinned one about how transphobic they they think it is, and it's looking like the game might get full on banned or at most get a bare bones thread that focuses almost totally on the transphobia allegations.

Wow. This is a nightmare future. Real talk. Neogaf actually used to be like this with the banning of any dissenting opinions and ResetEra has taken it to a whole nother level. Can people there not see how batshit insane this is?

He didn't respond quickly enough for their liking. Their entire point was he refused to say yes or no to their demands of putting a paragraph about transphobia in and instead said all are welcome. They said that was like saying All Lives Matter, implied he was alt right, implied he was a paid CDPR shill and demanded he be banned.

The most unhinged part of the entire thing was when he, as a show of good faith, took a one month ban, this didn't even come close to being enough as they said he'd just be enjoying the game.

I want to repeat this because it is, without a doubt, the most insane thing I have ever heard: They were actually angry that he could still PLAY THE FUCKING GAME WHILE BANNED.

Just gonna repeat myself one more time: when the mods ban this game, this is a 100% guarantee that within 6-10 months, they will shutter the entire gaming side of Era.

All it's gonna take is someone to point out Rockstar/Konami/Naughty Dog/Ubisofts controversies, point out how the game fucks something up and we get a snowball effect where Era becomes a politics only site.

Go to the stickied thread about it on Era right now, we have people actively arguing that people be given absolute veto power over what games are discussed on the forum, this is the end of the road for GamingEra.

I bet you that if you take BC's OT and don't include any of the stuff that they wanted him to add... and take away all the staff warnings and posts... would result in a regular thread with people talking about the game.

This is the exact thing they do not want.

Try telling these folks that you don't think games need to be political and they'll roll out the mockery. Just enjoying content is an alien concept to them.

Even Polygon and Kotaku made their recent PS5 reviews about politics (at least one of them did, if not both). It's hardware that they were given for free and they still had to tie it to "woe is me, the world is unjust" political talking points.

The problem CDPR have encountered here is that they tried to inject gender identity stuff into this game (it's Cyberpunk so that's expected) but that just brought their game into that arena where these toxic people spend most of their time and energy.

So while CDPR thought they were having fun with it, and I would guess were expecting to trigger right wingers, they didn't realise that they would so easily stir up a hornets nest.

So now that they've brought their game into the modern SJW political arena they will find out that these folks always just turn on their own.

So you end up with a situation over there where its no longer possible to just enjoy the game because CDPR themselves have implied the game has some deeper political message.

They don't want games to be about politics. They want games to pander to THEIR politics AND to get it 100% right 100% of the time.

So now its impossible for them to see it as "just a game". It's now a political game pushing the wrong politics.
