YouTuber who already left the scene a year or so ago kills himself after continous harassment received. Let's use the thread to serve as a reminder that he once defended a racist and had some offensive remarks, so all things considered it's not even a big loss, eh?

I am living in the same house as my father. My wife and I share the upper two floors (with our children), my father lives on the ground floor. We are pretty happy with this. Then again, I am not 26 anymore. But when we all moved here, I was 30, so not that far off.

I’m checking out of GAF for good, sick of the constant harassment and fanboy attacks from SonyGAF (and one of the mods now joined in with the tag as you can see, taken from a comment that wasn’t even attacking Sony) so have requested account deletion. That's insane, those vids were nowhere near enough to force a dispute. I remember Apollo set up a legal fund. I wonder if he did not get good enough counsel.

Fucking RIP man, his videos were some of the best in covering the speed running community.

He's one of the various speedrun-related to get a lawsuit from the dude. He got afraid and folded to avoid having issues, while others like Karl Jobst had more connections, experience and knowledge and pushed back. I certainly can't blame him, he probably thought that taking an L on this one would be preferable than losing his entire channel in case things got wrong. But then other youtubers decided to kick him while he was on the ground, see DarkViperAU's "apology" in which for 7 minutes he rants about how Apollo Legend was a lying scum, and that a friend of his also dies so uhm let's target the sympathy to me instead, eh?

AL wasn't perfect, nor a saint, but the man ended his life because he's been forced off his work/hobby, had several health and money issues and, if that weren't enough, folks kept harassing him long after he practically disappeared from the Internet. And now some subreddits, Era, etc. are having their "ackchyually" moment by pointing out that it's a loss that he died but also not so much because he once defended a racist and once misrepresented a case in a video, so he's literally Hitler and deserves no sympathy whatsoever.

Fuck everyone who, on this day, proceeds to cyberbully the man.

It's actually very normal in most parts of the world and throughout human history to live with your family like that. Yeah it was just me and my dad when I moved out in my early 20s. He was an alcoholic and a type A personality. During his last few years, my sister took care of him and endured unbelievable hardship. Definitely not the easiest person to live with.

So I may have been projecting my situation a bit but I find that a lot of dads tend to be super ready for their kids to leave the first time or not to linger long after they graduate college.

Moving back home in an arranged situation is different because you’ve demonstrated a different power dynamic that you could support yourself if you wanted to. I think the situation I was imagining for Taysan was one where someone has never left home and doesn’t have the means to do so. That specific power dynamic isn’t great because often the dad will still treat their kid like they’re 15 or something.

Depends on the person or family. Think I was 18-19.

Was a massive struggle but I was in a large family with constant conflict.

Not every family is spending their time hugging each other.

It happens, especially when you have a partner and no space to yourself.

In itself, it isn't necessarily wrong or determines a loser if you're at home until 26 and beyond. Many circumstances can come into play. My parents had a long house renovation and moving I helped with too, and I waited to start paying for a place of my own only when I had a fixed contract, instead of going out guns blazing at my 6 months contracts. It's not a big place here so the work opportunities are not that many, so finding a new job in case isn't necessarily an easy thing. I have friends beyond 30 who are far worse off for this and they still live with their parents.

The issue is when you're 26, living at your parents, not doing any chores at home or barely having worked or gone out alone, and then you tell others how to live their lives, how folks should be using their money, what products they should support, etc.. Now stuff like that is rich from someone who doesn't even have those problems.
