REminds me of a thing that happened in school with a daughter of on of my friends. You know how kids like to call poop to each other and stupid stuff like that. They called the parents to go to the school immediately because she called poop to a black kid. Cheap fucks thinking the landlord is a mogul who has it paid off, so 100% of the rent goes right into their bank account as profit.
All a renter cares about is what the monthly rent is and how much utilities are covered. They have zero interest or comprehension what is involved with being a landlord whether it's financials or physical responsibility. And if something goes wrong, they call the landlord and sit back watching TV waiting for it to be fixed.
They don't even understand or consider that there can be dead time between getting tenants, but the mortgage and bills and tax still has to be paid.
Nor would they even know that mortgage rates on investment properties will be higher than personal residence since banks consider it a riskier asset than a person's home. They have no clue.
That's why they are renters.

When my mother passed away 3 years ago, me and my brother inherited a 3 apartment building with tenants. Both of us had 0 fucking interest to keep it, so we sold. Best move really. Who the hell wants to be called any times, even during a weekend, for a problem with a renter? A clogged toilet that spilled floor to floor or some nasty shit like that? On top of that, during the 6 months we had it to finish paperwork, we had to find a tenant, a descent one. Easier said than done. No, landlords don’t have it easy, they take almost all the financial risks and some asshole tenants can set you back years in payments and with little to no legal chances to go against them, at least in Canada.

Getting good tenants is rolling the dice. I got ripped off by a tenant years ago. Lawyer basically just said write it off. Chances of trying to get her to pay is slim so don't bother. Was a lot of fun filling out and waiting for approvals of L and N forms.
My dad did landlording long time ago where he'd rent out the house to housemates who would share the kitchen and main floor bathroom.
The lazy fucks would call my dad to come clean the bathroom because nobody living there wanted to clean it. I even went with him a few times to help him fix things (more liked watch or hand him tools). Bathroom was gross. Amazing how just because some people don't own the place they still are willing to live like slobs. And he would go shovel the snow off the driveway because none of them wanted to buy shovels and do it themselves. As the last line of defence, the landlord has to eventually do it for sake of trying to keep the house in a decent condition.
He bailed ship years later.
That's what you get with dumb renters.
And even worse, government laws are skewed to protecting them. Should be the other way around like a hotel. Treat the hotel room good and pay up and everything is good. Don't pay and trash the room and out you go with a bill on your credit card.
Live in a house where everyone owns the place, and all neighbours mow the lawn, shovel show, rake the grass etc.... Not hard to do. Just an hour here and there. Yet it's something a renter can't figure out how to do.
