Resident Evil 4 hype thread

Pretty low, I don't really care about games that are coming out next year. Yet. But yeah, it should be one hell of a game.

Very high actually. I never really liked RE games, but I'm stoked for this one. Pretty soon I need to crack the RE1 remake open and play it. I bought it last january, never put it in my gamecube. Yikes.

My level of antcipation doesn't equal my level of interest in the game. I go through most of my games with low antcipation to avoid being disappointed

It'd be great to experience an emotion other than boredom while playing an RE game for once in my life.

Oh jeez guys, it's going to come out two weeks into 2005! That makes it TEH SUXX0RS now doesn't it? Some of you are way too critical. 10/10 on my scale.

10. One of the top 5 games at E3, easily -- and this coming from someone who has never been an RE fan.

Indeed it was, amazing texture use & particle effects. Even the skinning effects on Leon's jacket & hair, & the lighting is the best on the Cube yet. 10/10 Playing it vs. the screen captures do not do this game visual justice.

7/10

Playing it though is a completely different experience. Kinda like how I'm looking forward to DKonga and Taiko, but not completely psyched for them, though I loved playing them.

Much more hyped for say... KotOR II, FFXII, or Zelda XII.

Although the lighting in RE4 I believe will, or may be surpassed by LOZ XII. The light filtering through the forest canopy while Link is on his horse is simply beautiful. But the fire & various particle effects in RE4 are unparalled on any system.

Not much hype for me really. As great as the game looks-it still is the same old Resident Evil. New coat of paint, faster pace of play, but in the end you can shoot so many zombies before you get sick of it. Rental for me.

Looks fantastic, the most impressive game I've ever seen. They've made a lot of changes to the camera and gameplay too that I'm excited about, My anticipation level, I'm buying it at launch. Still, they've been keeping it under too much secrecy, I'd like to see some of the newer areas.

Pretty low. Until I saw this:

And of course, destructable environments:

That's how it is with pretty much any game of interest, unless we're close to the release date. Anticipation, for me, has everything to do with being able to see or almost touch something. As soon as I leave this thread, I'll go back to not anticipating RE4.

You're wrong, the same could be said of any game or genre. I'm sick of fighting the covenant, I'm tired of talking to NPCs & levelling up my party, etc. This game encompasses much more than that, but you have yet to play it.

IMO,Capcom has given a lot away already through various media & interviews. No more needs to be shown of the cave, lake, monastery, graveyard, or village levels. (which we only received a glimpse of)

I'll definitely be getting this. Anticipation used to be 8/10 but after those gif it's 9/10.

I've never played a RE game. Just today after finishing Metroid Prime I decided to get back in REmake and try to finish it... and for the 3rd or 4th time I turned off the cube. Other then guilt for having an "unfinished" game sitting there pissing me off, there's nothing else REmake can offer me.

A new camera consistently behind the player should change the Resident Evil gaming experience tremendously. Now I actually look forward to fighting zombies and enjoy the challenge.

I just hope the save system does not rely on ribbons and allows you to save as much as you want. I mean I play to have fun not worry about clearing 2-3 hours for a session. Make me worry about tough bosses and puzzles, not getting to the next save station damn it. :p

The ink ribbon argument is weak, there's like a million ink ribbons in the games. I could save every 20 minutes and still have about 5 ink ribbons left over at the end of the game.

Word on the street is that PAL gamers might get lucky.
Oh? I very much doubt the PAL version will come out any sooner than March 2005. Which is too far away for me to care.

Jesus Christ,a person starts a thread and in come people who cannot deal with others opinons..I'm wrong?..ROFL. Do you really think youre gonna have some final say in what I think anyways? The fact is your wrong, its still Resident Evil. Its still the same game only its been *juiced up* for people who have to pay 50 dollars for et another Resident Evl game. That can be either good or bad, depends on your view here. Hype and probably exlusivity(that magic word that somehow makes a 50 dollar game sem abit more bareable)..they've both maybe clouded your thinking though, since apparently you don't wanna accept that I'm not buying into the games hype, sorry:b

Chrono, ink ribbons are still in the game. But as Grubdog pointed out, they are plentiful. Ammo conservation will/has always been the toughest component esp. when approaching boss fights.

Then they should cancel Ribbons. :P

Like I said I barely got into the game and my judgments were based on my impressions from that short play time. Maybe it's a much better game if I give it the time, but it just doesn't pull me in I guess. =\

RE 4 has controls fit for kick-ass action and that's why it's top on my wish list.

Fair enough. It's your "opinion". But quit crying persecution.

I've played it, have you? The example you provided was fundamentally flawed, so I exposed it. No, I do not think I can change your opinion, nor should I care to. But to call it RE with a "new coat of paint" is an inaccurate assessment of the game. My thinking is not clouded, however your spelling is.

The only weak thing is the inventory system. A pistol clip holds 15 in game, yet in the inventory it's seemingly unlimited. Then you have two weapons and a bag of herbicide taking up as much space as three keys. That's not right, give me a keyring.

There may be lots of ribbons lying around but I've found that I seldom picked them up unless they were right near an item box.

Luckily it looks like Leon has a large inventory in RE4.

Just to clear my name,I'm not the guilty one callingf people out.

Who the heck was crying to begin with? If you look at the thread it was you folks who threw the tantrum over an opinion...LOL. Sugarcoat the truth all you want, but the game is Resident Evil as is. Idon't care for it,ofcourse I'll voice what I feel, you freaks do no less yourselves each and every day in this forum. Jesus you people are uptight though, relax your shit or don't enter bother reading this forum if you don't want to fucking read opinons.

I'm uploading a very high quality version of the 3 minutes E3 trailer to my site right now, if anyone is interested. Should be online in 30 minutes or so.
