Resident Evil 4's Castle is so much bigger and better than RE8

Playing through RE4 again thanks to the superb HD project. The castle in RE4 is simply huge and with lots of variation. It just puts RE8's castle to shame really. 15 years later and Capcom couldnt match its earlier work.

Production Studio 4 must be one of the most talented developers ever. Not only is the game long, but there is hardly any filler and it is so detailed.

I have no idea how they managed to develop this game in such short span (it was rebooted several times)

Castle in RE4 is far away my favorite portion of the game. Village and island were great, don't get me wrong, but the castle had such impeccable pacing, enemy variation, set piece moments, boss battles and memes.

That said, there's not a location in RE8 that I don't like, but they're all very insular.

Island is my least favorite area in RE4 but still good.

That said, i was surprised how short The castle in RE8 was. Was that it? And enemy variation sucked.

The castle in RE VILLAGE is still gorgeous, its different design, RE4 was just one of a kind and we will see in the new remake how much it changes.

As much as VILLAGE looks like RE4 there different types of games, RE4 is still king, but Capcom trying to copy that game countless times holds them back a little imo, their best RE games since then have been the ones that least resemble RE4

The HD Project is THE BEST remaster ever, I'm so glad that Capcom doesn't do a dick move to shut it down, instead they officially support in their Steam community page as sticky.

I disagree somewhat. I beat RE4 right after RE Village, funny enough they both took me about 11 hours to beat.

Castle went on for too long, and I didn't like the baby sit parts and didn't like the QTE with the statue either. The RE 4 island portion was fairly bad imo, with boring settings, lots of gun wielding enemies. Its practically the same as RE5.

Why not both!

First of all, Re 4 Castle is meant to occupy a third of the game's overall size, so of course its bigger. While RE 8 Castle represents what, 15% of the game's overall size?

Second of all, both castles are trying different things. So I don't feel like its fair to compare them.

Village is awesome, RE4 is awesome. No need to stack one section against the other, both can be great and exist in harmony.

Besides, there's plenty of people who would argue that RE4 is one of the weakest RE entries in the series. Not the game itself but as a RE game. I somewhat agree too. I like RE4 as a game but I don't really care for it as a RE title.

Also, Village at least has puzzles. Crowd control is the puzzle in RE4 but as good as the controls feel, the game gets insanely repetitive after a few hours. That's why I'm looking forward to the RE4 remake. Give me the crowd control aspect and some puzzles and it'll be a 10/10.

RE4 is my goat (in the genre), but Village's castle is also a masterpiece. The factory level is not bad either. I think Capcom did a great job in recycling the best elements of RE4.
