RESIDENT EVIL 6 |OT| No Trope Left

Please elaborate on these strategies you speak of. I cannot think of any right now. Maybe I'm forgetful? Almost all the boss fights in this game fall under the timer or are scripted encounters. Not all, of course, but otherwise they are dodge and shoot. Again, I'm really curious, maybe I missed something.

I see that others didn't find RE5 bosses as good as I did, but I loved most of them. Not to say there weren't weak encounters there too, but on the whole, I felt they were better handled that most RE6 encounters. Although at the same time, RE6 does have some more memorable overall encounters due to the always changing script for the fights and the fact that most bosses last more than one round. Some of the designs in RE6 are better than 5 too.

I guess it's a toss-up at the end for me.
Snake boss get it to go over the power cord and electrocute it. Simmons final fight you had to keep tricking him to take the electric rod and then plunge it into his head. Haos fight you had to target its specific organs shoot them out then it would go into a shell which you needed to break open and then take out part of its arteries. There are more but I found RE6 to be miles better than RE5s bossfights. Also a lot of RE6s bossfights or miniboss fights had the option of multiple ways to beat them

Okay, those are true.

But multiple ways to beat? I definitely need elaboration on that, now that's one thing I definitely do not see.

Yeah the boss fights aren't very good in this game. Like I've said before, it's hard to tell whether you have to actually damage them or just wait for the next scripted event for most of them. In the
Deborah fight, do you have to actually shoot her when she's on the mine cart with you or do you just wait till she leaves?
In the 4th campaign, when you're
fighting the chainsaw guy on the trolley
, you wouldn't have known you didn't have to shoot him at all unless you had already fought him before. If it's your first time, you'll probably waste ammo. During the
Simmons fight in Leon's 4th chapter, do you shoot him when he's running next to the train or do you just wait till he rips off all of the train's sides and for the next scene to occur?
There were many points in the game where I felt like I was wasting ammo because of all these boss "phases."

Agreed, which is why I think the boss encounters are weak. On my Pro playthrough it was much better since I knew what to do/expect. As for the first fight you mentioned in Leon 2, you just wait. I usually lay on my back and chill lol. As for the Leon 4 fight, that one you actually have to shoot, at least I think so.

You have to shoot in Leon 4. In my second go at it with a partner and beefier stats, I ended up routing that segment. It took much longer on my first try when I did t alone.

I can only assume that it went faster because my bullets where doing more damage along with the additional damage provided by my partner.

I had a feeling that was the case. I was doing it on Pro and thought to myself "I have a feeling I don't actually have to shoot her." Another example I just thought of was in the very first part of the
tiger Simmons battle in Ada's campaign. I wasted so much ammo shooting him only to realize in my Pro playthrough that you just had to wait for Leon to climb up the rope so the fight can automatically move on.
That annoyed the hell out of me.

Can someone list ALL of the DLC -- free, paid, unlockable, etc -- that will eventually come to RE6? Like what are the 10 Mercs maps? What are the new multiplayer modes? Etc, etc.

I would like to know more :)

They contain a shitload of development artwork and very in-depth plot details related to the major incidents in the series, the enemies, characters and so on. There's the occasional localization error that may cause confusion but they don't detract from them too much. They'll probably end up being collector's items in due time (again) once the bundle goes out of print.

Lol. That's the part in RE2 where Birkin boards the train at the end right?

Yeah. There's a lot more cases in the book of just some very clear Google Translate-like attempts where they thought auto-replacing one Japanese term every single time was going to be okay. The series uses "biohazard" in katakana almost always, and since that's what they use for the actual title of the series itself, anytime "biohazard" is casually mentioned in a biography or something it just uses "Resident Evil".

This is all typically Resident Evil. In the case of
train Simmons
, you shoot at him until you've subtracted a certain amount of hitpoints to trigger his next phase. Some bosses you simply wait out and conserve ammo. During your first time, you could consider the ambiguous boss pattern signposts to be unfair, but it's the kind of thing that rewards RE repeat players by making subsequent playthroughs much faster, smoother, more economical, and more exciting, not to mention giving a huge sense of empowerment. On a related note, I was led astray by Leon and Helena's instructions during the final
Simmons
form, when they're yelling "This isn't working!", and "We're wasting our time!", despite the tactics I was using eventually proving accidentally fruitful. But I can see what they mean when you look at the flowchart of required action to beat him. It's a real puzzle to figure out, I'll say that.

AHAHAHAHA. I actually survived a gangbang attempt in front of
The Cathedral
on Professional. Two intruders suddenly joined the game as monsters which shocked me because I thought I had turned off Agent Hunt mode. Thankfully luck seems to be on my side and I somehow managed to do multiple dodges of the Bloodshots and insta-killed at least 3-4 of them. And my accuracy with shooting the Shriker's lungs seem to be on point all of a sudden. It was a *bleep* though trying to get into
The Cathedral
because I have to be in sync with AI Helena, so if either one of us is interrupted, we can't get in and the monsters keep streaming. But somehow I managed to clean up the monsters and managed to run in time to open the doors.

Sucks to be you intruders! Better luck next time. In other news, I actually forcefed someone's Jake with Raskpalanje's meatloaf when I played as monster. That was gross but when I pressed R1 to grab, I didn't think it'd actually do that and insta-killed the poor guy.

Anyone down for a Chris Pro run on 360? As a heads up I like watching the cutscenes and not skipping them, if that kind of thing bothers you.

Replaying Chris Ch. 2, I was surprised how fast I could complete the
double Ogroman
boss battle when I knew what to do -- I killed both so fast that my squad more or less went around blowing up anti-air guns with only the occasional J'avo as a nuisance. The second one I killed before the cutscene could even pop up saying to expose its weak spot, lol. I was hunting emblems on Amateur, though, so that probably played a role. :)

So, does anyone know the names of the seven additional Mercs maps that will eventually be released? What about the names of the new game modes (I.E. I think one is called Predator)?

They've been out before, and go for ridiculous prices.

I'm definitely picking them up - that is an absolute bargain based on what they go for now, regardless of whether the information inside is good or not. :p

Do people read the OP? >_>

There's three more maps already confirmed, they are the pre-order bonuses. High Seas Fortress, Rail Yard (a subway) and The Catacombs.

There are three modes announced for release, Xbox 360 exclusive (timed) that are also detailed in the OP. I can't remember which ones right now (I'm on my phone in bed >_>)

You could read them, then match them up with modes that Dusk and his friends were able to extract from the disc so you could kind of work out what was coming.

My apologies, it didn't even cross my mind the OP would cover that. I thought it was all found by hacking. :)

Oh, well I cover what has been officially been announced. But you can cross-reference that with the stuff Dusk found and then work it out yourself I think. I haven't actually DONE THAT since the game came out though.

I *do* know that Dusk found images of the maps in the demo, so you could at least see what they look like.

I hereby declare that Agent Hunt should henceforth be referred to as "Troll Douche Mode." I spawned as a sword J'avo, ran over to Sherry who was holding her side in pain, swung at her once, and caused a game over. I got the following medals: Killed an agent, did not take damage, finished in less than a minute.

I don't like it when the game ends that quickly, but that thrill you get when you're chasing an injured agent is SO FUCKING EXHILARATING.

They do have a section dedicated to "BIOHAZARD 1.5" in the first book, but nothing beyond that. Don't think the second has any unreleased or "beta" material, outside of concept art and the like.

Holy shit, Chris'
Humvee chase
is so damn terrible T___T

I didn't think it was that bad. But I thought it was fund doing Jake and Sherry's
bike chase. I lol'd when Jake caught Sherry and he's like "are you alright?" and she says "yeah, I'm fine!" and I immediately crash into a car!
XD

Good times...

Is anyone here gonna try to win that zombie event that starts later today? It sounds like a huge pain in the ass.

It does. It sounds like you just keep fighting stuff up until that day. And whoever has the most free time and will to stay up wins? The first prize isn't even that amazing. I have too much to do to be trying to win something like that. lol

Man

I just can't deny it anymore...

Resident Evil 6 has THE worst music in the entire mainline franchise

It's just this cheap-ass sounding C-Grade action film score that I want to shut the fuck up already and have been tempted more than once to just mute it. It's just so bad and CONSTANTLY playing for MOAR INTENSITY!!!!

ugh.

Also, Jake's
bike chase
is also, unsurprisingly, total shit.

Fuck is this game uneven =(

Wha? The music in RE6 is great! I love the main menu theme, the Ogroman theme, the theme that plays on the second half of all the credits, the new Mercs theme, etc. The music is consistently great -- there's just no standout "Duel of the Fates" type theme like "Wind of Madness" in RE5. The only RE game I genuinely can't remember music from is RE4, funny enough.

Yes, the music you mentioned is great. The final chapters have great music too, especially Chris. RE5 was just better.

I agree about RE4, except for Serenity. Amazing track.

Oh and Jake's theme during his credits is AWESOME.

About to order mine from Amazon France, but would love to check some pics out first.

Pretty much all the music you mentioned is the only good music in it

The actual moment to moment gameplay tracks, especially the more action-esque ones, are the epitome of cheap generic filler. All of it's tacky sounding shit that sounds like it was all done on a cheap keyboard.

Between that, the fuck awful vehicle sections, the extreme varying quality in the campaigns, This is like the definition of what happens when you just throw people at a project and hope for the best
Now i'm not saying it can't work because Ubisoft seems to have figured it out somewhat, but here is just ....ugh, infuriating

Man, trying to finish Leons campaign, on the "final" boss and it pretty much kills the game almost entirely for me. Too many boss fights with the same creature in every campaign. Just not fun at all. Gah, Leons 5th chapter was shaping up really well, since he's my favourite character and campaign of the lot. But this boss fight? Turning into a fucking giant spider? Ugh. Capcom doesn't seem to get it, dragging on boss fights etc is lame as fuck!

Couple that with the fact that in Chris', I ran out of ammo several times. The amount of times that has happened throughout the game is ridiculous. And I don't spray either...

I thought it would be really hard to beat REmake and RE4 music, and it was like that. RE6 had definetly some good tracks but the music feels very uninspired and very "hollywood bluckbuster movie" like.

Specially the music that sounds in Leon Chapter 1 when you're in the city is incredible awful.

I liked the music, but RE5 shits on it.

RE5's boss music is just... fucking tops, really. RE6's score isn't memorable at all. Some tracks are certainly great, but overall it's up and down. Nothing really sticks out to me aside from
them bringing back Ada's theme from RE2 but that's full on nostalgic praise and nothing more
.

I thought the music in 6 is excellent, on the whole probably even better than 4 or 5's. The jazz influence in some of Jake's tracks was particularly clever, and his
ending song
is so hilariously wrong and yet so right, it's like the '90s never stopped. The 2nd half of the end credits music that they all share gets my hair standing on end every single time.

And the moments where there are no music were some of the best RE soundtrack moments for me. Incredibly ambient and incredibly well done. The strange sounds in the subway tunnels were a standout. Superb sound across the board imo.

I did dig Jake's jazzy thing for the brief moment it was there

Isn't it though?

Sad but True - Favorite RE song ever really. Just amazing.

Two on Two

Winds of Madness - So epic.

Evil Mutation - Great theme, fit the setting perfectly. Shame it was a gun turret battle mainly though.

Big Despair

Deep Ambition - Awesome final boss theme

The rest are great too, and that's not even including the regular encounter music. Best RE OST imo.

Honestly when compared to the themes I linked and the OST overall, RE6's OST is pretty disappointing. The composer wasn't the same was he?
