So apparently to get the really high scores in Mercenaries you have to save the secret boss that appears and kill him as number 150 in your combo. Also you're supposed to constantly counter enemies at the beginning until things start to get too crazy.
I don't think I'm hardcore enough to bother with all that though lol.
I figured something like this, the boss isn't worth the effort if I frag it right away. Like 3000 skill points or so.
But as you don't need to counter in a row you can perhaps counter about 13 enemies during the first wave and then make the final 2 counters near the end. Countering zombies isn't hard, especially not when they just do regular slaps. The 10 second bonus can add up if you do them quickly and without fail.
You have to make a Capcom account, and then tie that with your PS3 account by finding your unique access code in the menus somewhere. After that it will take within a day for it to refresh with all your already played time.
RE.net has not updated my account for like 3 days, and every time i go the the site they need me to login and link with my psn acct every single time. What gives?
Finished all 4 campaigns today and I gotta say I absolutely loved the game. I didnt even mind any of the notorious vehicle sections. Hates gonna hate!
Not sure if it's the same files, but I'm pretty sure they are included in the game. They're in one of the sub-menus off the start screen. I think it's special features, and it opens up the 3 jukebox looking things. You can read the files there. I agree it would be better to integrate them into the actual game like they used to, but yeah, you don't have to read them on RE.net exclusively.

He actually is correct, for some reason the files in the game are only about a third or a fourth (sometimes half) of the actual files, RE.NET has the full files on their website when you unlock them and they are substantially longer and go MUCH more into detail, some of which is actually important to fully understand elements of the plot.

It's interesting though that whoever wrote the second part of the files for RE.net is a much worse writer than whoever wrote the files that are in the game. You can tell from the writing style that it is much more amateurish on RE.net, probably because they added it in later as a ploy to make RE.net more appealing and so used a different writer to flesh it out.

This might be answered more by Newsbot, but I think in this case they may have had different translators. It also should be noted that often times the parts left out are notes, diaries, or the like from other characters. They have emails from members of the Family, a note from Deborah, and even things like an email from Sheva to Piers. While I don't notice the drop in quality, I did notice the 'before and after' was written somewhat differently, namely the in-game files are much more... Human, whilas the out-game part of the files are more technical. Translating is often more art than science, which is why I think the translators for both parts were different and had different translation mentalities.
I think this has to do with players online and checking the site, still ironing out issues. There even at the wee hours of the night are over 500,000 players playing online (at this very moment there are 589,979 players playing on the 360 online alone) and from some recent Japanese numbers it seem the game is selling well in Japan at least.
Man RE.net really pisses me off sometimes. It will let me log in, but if I let it idle and come back to it, instead of just logging me out and asking me to sign back it will give me constant errors and will refuse to do anything.

I think it's a case of different translators. It's difficult to tell whether they were written at the same time or if the extra information on the RE.net versions were written and added later.
The English files are a complete clusterfuck both in the game and on RE.net. There are parts which just don't make any shred of sense, such as the one detailing how the C-Virus was created. The Japanese one is much more concise. There are also completely mixed up files on the site, but everything is perfect in Japanese. You can also observe quite a lot of examples where the translators just decided "fuck it, this is enough, right?" and just stopped mid-way through a file. There are also cases where things are spelled out in English in the Japanese files... but are missing from the English files. How does that happen?
While my friend don't have his copy so we can Co-op, I've started playing some Mercenaries.
It seems that I can use the Points for this Mode but also for the Main Story. What's the best Starting Skills I should purchase? I think I'll be saving most of the points to the Main Story. Any tips?
Hmm I wonder if I should continue with my Pro playthrough or start playing CV:X HD which I got with RE6 Archives. On the one hand I kinda want a survival horror experience after the action-ness of RE6, on the other hand I really like how easy it is to get into RE6 and stop whenever you feel like it. I started playing CV:X yesterday but then I quit out to the dashboard when I realized I couldn't save whenever I wanted. I'm so lazy lol.

Also, is there a way to see what and how can I unlock new costumes?
The points I used are Firearm/Defense/Item Drop for Chris/Jake, and Firearm/Breakout/Item Drop for Leon. The costumes you unlock by A ranking levels in Mercenaries with the existing characters, or by buying them on RE.net. You can't use your skill points to buy costumes.

Speaking of which, does the game allow for you to co-op worldwide? I'm gonna be playing on PS3, and from what I've read, it sold much, much less on that system. I figure if there's matchmaking worldwide, I'll have fewer issues hooking up with folks.

Like with nearly every boss fight in this game where it's less of a straight up battle and more of surviving until you figure out that one thing you have to do move on to the next phase,
Ada's Chapter 4 Boss
had to have been my favorite boss in the entire game due to the concept. Underdeveloped character to the point I honestly didn't care about her? Yes, but still an awesome fight.

I believe so. Just select All Regions when doing anything online.

OH right, that boss. Yeah I was actually confused at first, then I noticed the tanks in the back. It was a fun encounter overall, though wish there would have been more of an actual fight.
I said before, but RE6 boss fights really can't compare to most of RE5. I'm using RE5 because RE4 is obviously out of the question, but RE5 had some really great boss fights. Nothing in this game can compare to
Wesker+Jill, Jill, any Wesker fight, and a lot of the others.

Also, I don't really think Ustanak is much like Nemesis. I was trying to rationalize this in my head. Of course I thought, "Well, Ustanak only appears during cutscenes and his appearance is scripted." Nemesis' appearance is often scripted too. But I dunno. Nemesis really pursues you and it feels organic. Ustanak isn't even competent. The whole
bug section
was awful.
Ustanak is more like a joke character. His
last appearance is a complete joke, with Jake punching him in the face like he's a giant clown.
Nemesis was menacing, scary, dangerous. There was no real feeling that he could be controlled once let out into the wild.

Yeah, but they're the only boss battles that you remember because of who is participating in them rather than the boss battles themselves. They're just samey humanoid battles - some of which are fucking terrible
like ripping off Jill's boob bug thing
Resident Evil 6 easily trumps Resident Evil 5 for this reason, it provides variety in it's boss battles and for the MOST part offers boss strategies outside of the whole "survive for xx minutes" or "shoot it until it dies".
There are so many memorable moments throughout this game when compared to Resident Evil 5. I am a little bit depressed at how much this game has lowered RE5 (in terms of boss encounters) by comparison.
Probably not possible if you look into the canon, but I really wish they just said that this was Steve just to kill and bury that plot thread forever. I cannot believe I see people STILL gunning for his return =/

This is true, Ustanak are just scenes that are dialed in. Nemesis can chase you throughout a fair portion of a map but if you decide to shoot it down its gone for a time which means you can explore at leisure. And it also gives you a reward for being courageous.
With Ustanak you're meant to down him, or run from him to avoid instant death. At some parts you can take a beating from him and at chasing parts he OHKO's you. Its completely by modern gaming rules. RE6 is very much a linear corridor shooter to begin with.
I did like the Ustanak scenes and fights, but its not a patch on Nemesis ofcourse.
Yeah she sucks. Weaksauce bow gun doesn't cut it. Fatsos take a lot of explosive rounds as well. I had a hard time, luckily I played with a decent chap so that A came in anyway. But you could always unlock her alt at RE.net I think.
I guess you'll need to play headshot -> melee, and counter with her.

This is true, but to fair the Nemesis formula only works in a world where you have freedom to explore. When you're going down such a linear game as this, then it's really hard to just randomly drop Ustanak into a level without making the entire level about him.
They kind of tried that actually with the Raskaplanje in this game but those sections always just annoyed the hell out of me. Imagine replacing that with Ustanak and you'd get an idea for how it would play out.

Just like how I play with everyone else minus Jake.
As someone who uses the crosshairs, aiming with the bow trajectory visual is pretty annoying. This bow is not the one I used back in RE4 and 5, that's for sure.
Could anyone give me a quick rundown of any "hidden" stuff in any of the chapters 4 and 5 as well as Chris's chapter 3? I'd rather not follow a guide but I'd like to not miss out on stuff similar to
Finished 3 Chapters for all three characters so far.
Leon has been pleasantly decent so far. A few irritating sequences, but mostly alright. Disliked his Chapter 3 section, but 1 and 2 were solid.
Chris is merely meh. Hate his character arc now, and the actual game parts are pretty awful. China looks amazing though.
Jake flat out sucks. Cannot stand most of his campaign design. The acting is pretty great though, at least line delivery. Hilarious when I had to confront a tank in the mansion, but then the ensuing escape was just terrible. "Hey tank can you move this statue for me KTHX BYE!"
My least favorite RE game so far easily, but I am curious to see it through at least. That deserves a bit of points.
Unable to grasp the true nature of the utilized biological weapons, the dispatch of the army was difficult, and agents assisted by the FOS became the true spearhead.

Yes I do it too but the difference is that the other characters can rely on some fairly powerful secondary weapon to take out bigger guys. Thats where she falls flat. The explosive arrows works well on those armored creatures (Although worse than Jake's revolver, Piers' scoped rifle etc), but on fatties and naked dudes its just shit.
Which is why Steel beast is indeed her most favoured map.

Please elaborate on these strategies you speak of. I cannot think of any right now. Maybe I'm forgetful? Almost all the boss fights in this game fall under the timer or are scripted encounters. Not all, of course, but otherwise they are dodge and shoot. Again, I'm really curious, maybe I missed something.
I see that others didn't find RE5 bosses as good as I did, but I loved most of them. Not to say there weren't weak encounters there too, but on the whole, I felt they were better handled that most RE6 encounters. Although at the same time, RE6 does have some more memorable overall encounters due to the always changing script for the fights and the fact that most bosses last more than one round. Some of the designs in RE6 are better than 5 too.
