hmm about the sound...

I was at the
lake and fought the big fish. I had my Sennheiser HD555s with DD amp thing and I would hear the fish coming from a certain side but every time I was wrong. Like the audio was off or not set properly. Oh and Im talking about the part where you remain on your boat, it gets quiet and then you see the fish coming towards you.

Not sure if this is because of shoddy audio done on the port of maybe the games doesnt have proper surround sound output.

Anyways Im out of this thread. Too easy to read spoilers :(

So, the only thing I really don't like about this game is regathering items and shit after a checkpoint screws you over after dying.

Like, I am on Pro mode right now and got to the cabin shootout, and of course I get my ass raped. Maybe it's because I am super tired, or that I just played through this game already over the last two days, but the idea of regathering those items and readjusting my inventory put me off from finishing this part.

Oh well, hopefully I'll be in a different mood when I get up. xP

Just beat it - wow at the leaderboards on PS3 version for Pro-Normal.

Yeah, this is one of the greatest action games ever! I was laughing out loud at how stupid and illogical everybody in the game is. I've beaten this game about 15 times but it wasn't until this time that I paid any attention to just how stupid everyone is in this game. So many amazing cringe worthy moments.

Also, HD graphics had me seeing things that I've missed before like a green herb and a box of shot gun shells. Very nice.

Probably already mentioned, but Red9 is the way to go for pistol if you are min/maxing. Exclusive upgrade is damage that pretty much overpowers pistol rounds.

My favorite character is Luis Sera. I have beaten the game a dozen times, but I still have no idea why he is in it, or why
Leon has a heart attack and screams dramatically when a guy he has spent less than 4 minutes of his life with dies
.

But it's stupid in a wonderfully cheesy way. Unlike RE5, which is just plain stupid.

It's not cringe worthy, this game is laugh out loud hilarious.

Exactly. One of the long-running quotes I have with my friends is, whenever we wanna hang out, one of us always seems to say, "Hey, I know a good bar," quickly followed up by...

MIIIIIIIIIIIKKKEEE

I remember when this came out on the gamecube, and for me it was like a revelation. Suffice to say, it's my favorite game of all time and I jumped on this HD version in a heartbeat.

I haven't played it since the GC version, so while it's totally bringing me back, it also feels very fresh if that makes sense.

Another thing that strikes me is really how much this just shames RE5. I was one of those people who enjoyed RE5, even solo, and didn't understand some of the hate it got just because it wasn't as good as the previous one. Like I said, I hadn't played 4 since it originally came out and I also don't like to hold expectations against things and prefer to judge them on their own merits.

That being said, as someone who just played through 5 again a month ago, 4 really just outclasses it in every way. Sure, a lot between them is similar but 4 has, i dunno, IT. It's intense in ways 5 can only dream of, and despite being more action focuses it still manages to feel like a RE game. 5 is just a straight up action shooter (complete with turret level!)

I guess I'm just trying to say that now I understand where some people were coming from.

Regardless, for any one wanting to jump into 5 after this, it's a fun game and worth playing. It just aint 4.

I cringed at "I'm just a good for nothing guy, who happens to be quite the lady's man." But now, I'm laughing! You're right!

Get's me every time.

edit: Oh man, just had a good laugh at this one too.

And yes, I'm spoiler tagging URLs even though you can still see them so RE4 newbies know to avoid.

Any thoughts on the Spanish in the game? Is it like, badly translated and voice acted?

Most of their dialogue goes like this:

Die! (¡Muérete!)
Motherfucker!/Bastard! (¡Cabrón!)
Brains, brains, brains (Cerebros, cerebros, cerebros)
Enough, son of a bitch (¡Basta, hijo de puta!)

I finished the last chapter of the main game today. Beat the final boss first try,
only to fail miserably right after that by crashing the fucking jetski into a wall lol!

Blazed through Assignment Ada (i forgot how short it is), then Separate Ways. Now I've started my pro run with Leon wearing
the gangster outfit. I haven't gotten to Ashley yet, but she should be wearing armor, right?

Playing this made me realize how good RE 5 looks, but in a way, this game is so much better than it in so many ways.

What should I take note of when going Professional mode in RE4?

Sound is crap unfortunately. Probably the same as on PS2.
Just watched Derek's 1:50:53 speedrun on GC and was amazed by sound quality and effects. This "HD" port is not even close.

Resident Evil 6 needs to have Leon and his one-liners.

Needs more Claire, Rebecca, and Barry though. Seriously I want to see them become action stars. :p

I just finished Separate Ways and it was so awesome. I never played it before, but man, what a great story. I love Ada.

I think you'll come to be okay with it. At first it's pretty baffling and you're like "god damnit why this game was going so well" until you realize that this aspect is just as well implemented as everything else in the game!

It adds a bit more urgency and tension to the game and doesn't really detract from the experience like [every other escort mission ever] does. There are things that keep it from being annoying.

You're right, Vanquish is a top 3 game of the gen and SotD is also pretty awesome.

Yeah. I mean, I am sure there are more people that need to be credited. But this man is THE mind behind so many of our beloved games...He knows how to make good games for gamers. When I play his games, I am like "this guy gets what makes a game compelling". Even RE1 has its charm in some funny ways

Escorting Ashley is awesome and it adds an extra dynamic to the game. She does exactly what you tell her and if she ever dies or gets captured it's your own fault, not because of broken AI or wonky pathfinding.

Also, finished Code: Veronica. Ranking: B
Time:5:47
Saves:9
Retry:1
damn you Nosferatu :( - got the sniper kill on him though, don't manage that often :)

Not bad for my first time through in many a year. People on the leaderboards already have sub 2-hour times. No clue how they pull that off, but I never played this one that much. Great game though...a lot easier than I remember it, but some of the bosses and circumstances it throws at you really feel like trial and error. Didn't pack enough health for
Steve-monster
? Dead.

The weird FMV slowdown persisted throughout the game and was pretty distracting, but really it's the only actual flaw I can see with the port. Also, I really hate the extended ending. The way they cram it in is so damn awkward. I'm basically keeping my DC original because of that. :p

just bought the game and a year sub to USA psn. The way I see it; USApsn+ will ensure that I will get the most out of PSvita. This also means I got to buy the US copy of uncharted3 etc el. Time to find a game site and preorder that.

everything is downloading now - albeit real slow but I can wait.

Is it possible to use other people's savegames on the PS3-version? I don't care about trophies, though I'd like to replay RE4 with the typewriter. If yes, does anybody have an appropriate save for the european version?

RE4 leaderboards are insane. The whole game in 1:30 hrs... Like, srsly?

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Played a bunch of hours yesterday, gonna finish it today... what a masterpiece this game is. Masterpiece.

Question, how do you beat
Salizars right hand? I used all of the nytrogin-stuff and shot him with the shotgun an endless amount of times... but he didn't die?
. After that I ran out of the stuff and I had no other option than to run
to the elevator
.

I've tried to play RE4 several times now, but the controls are so very frustrating that I can't make it past the first village. Ugh. I might even resort to using a walkthrough or something, which I never do for games :(

Very frustrating... how is that even possible? Yesterday, I was complaining to my brother how this game makes me rage about how no game this generation feels this perfect in terms of control. If you have map control, enemy awareness and know when to abuse invincibility frames from the QTEs, you will slaughter everything in a fashionable way.

Everyone has problems with the controls at the beginning. I got chopped my head off a couple of times in the village the first time I played this game. Its part of the learing curve. By the time you finish the game and start your pro run you're gonna blaze through the first village without any problems whatsoever.

Hardest boss to beat, IMO. I always save the free rocket launcher for him. Nothing more satisfying that freezing him and than blowing him to pieces with the launcher.
