Resident Evil: Revival Selection |OT| RE4 and REC:VX now in HD!

Maybe if they had put just a little bit more effort into the games for they're "HD" return. Especially RE4.

I understand that people can complain about the HD version of RE4, because high resolution is the only improvement in the version, but at the same time the game lacks at least one graphical effect and anti-aliasing. Also, no leader board for mercenaries just screams stupidity.

However, how can anyone complain about RECVX HD? They've completely change the engine the game runs on and did the best they could to improve the game graphic wise without redoing it completely. Sure, the low-res FMVs are bad thing, but besides that it's the old game with new coat of paint (ie. lighting and graphical effects). What do people expected them to do with the title?

With the way people are carrying on, it sounds like they wanted something of REmake calibre. =/ I like Code Veronica and it is pretty cool that its running on MT Framework too

See what I'm saying here? :)

You bought a game on release for 60 dollars while not having the time/interest to play it?

Do people really prefer the Broken Butterfly over the Killer7? I always get the BB for free, use it until the island and sell it once the K7 shows up. That thing, when upgraded, is a wonderful beast and by the time I get it, I always have more than enough cash to drop upgrades into it.

I always found magnums in general absolutely pointless, so I just keep the BB because it's free.

In Code Veronica does the game still give you a mid-way save point? You know, the one where you usually have to swap disks? I was just wondering how this works in this version, because to get the A Rank you pretty much have to rely on that mid-way save point. I got the A Rank back in the GC version of CV and it was the hardest A Rank run I've ever done in an RE game. Shit, it was just one of the hardest challenges I've done in a game, period.

Also, for the battle game. Are the A Rank requirements from the DC or GC version? If I remember correctly, the GC version had more strict time thresholds to clear for an A Rank. It was apparently easier to do in the Dreamcast version.

I haven't downloaded this yet, but I probably will. I know I'll be tempted to try that A rank run again at some point, but it's so depressing and intimidating!

They want $20 each for these HD titles. They're out of their mind.

They weren't allowed to sell them for a penny less than $19.99 on the 360 because they're Games on Demand titles, and you can get them for $10 on the PS3 if you have PS Plus.

And you can pay in MS Points on the 360 which can easily be obtained at discounted rates or free. So RE 4 HD on the 360 is probably the best value gaming purchase I've made all year. 40 hours for less than twenty bucks.

I found the free BB extremely useful when I got to the knights on my Pro run last night.

Paying full price to grow a backlog is so financially irresponsible. Pace yourselves, duders!

amen

I pay full price only when that's what I am playing right away and nothing else.

Currently pondering if i'm gonna do this with Rage.

I just shotgun'd those mofos on Pro. Glad I did, because I got multiple knights at once, and it made things a lot easier than I thought I would be.

You always get two sets of three knights at once in that room. I tried various weapons, but using the BB allowed me to have all three of them sprouting plagas and then I just tossed a flash grenade.

No new game+ in Veronica? Just finished and very disappointed. Bought 2 and 3, gonna replay them and forget about this worst RE.
Mikami produced it? Cant believe he created such a crap :\

I wouldn't call the game crap, but it's the only mainline RE game that I never finished. I definitely liked RE3 (which is sort of its main competition) more. Hell, I enjoyed RE0 more as well, and I know I sound crazy when I say that.

I do want to give the HD version a try, but I'm going to wait until a special deal goes up for it. I have an X360 and don't want to pay $20. If I can get it for $10, I'll bite.

Better play original on DC or PS2/GC. The graphics in this port is awful. I mean overall color/brightness etc. Dynamic light is kinda cute though. Watched DC videos on YT and it looks much better. HD ver is eye hurting. Maxed out brightness on TV, still it is dark as hell lol.

Ok just a few questions. I just got ashley (hope thats not a spoiler), and I have the option to buy the Red9. Should I buy it? Read in here its the best gun in the game. Also, I remember reading that I should take her some place to jump up. Is that now or later in the game? Also, im trying to get all the achievements I can on the first playthrough. I shot the water and got that one, any other things I need to know to do for an achievement I wouldn't normally get?

The Red9's advantage is pure stopping power, that's it. I prefer the Blacktail myself simply because of the faster reload time and ammo capacity. Also the Blacktail is free if you shoot all the medallions in the farm and church.

The place you are probably talking about is later in the game, after the village, and a good ways into the next level. But it is a door you have to back track to after a certain event.

No, that's the Punisher, which is probably the worst handgun in the game. It has the ability to shoot through multiple baddies at once but that doesn't offer much of an advantage.

My bad. Haven't played it in a while, but I still prefer the Blacktail over the red9.

Yeah, when talking about the handgun choices, for most people it comes down to Red9 versus Blacktail. I myself prefer the former, since when I play RE4 I'm all about brute strength. The advantages of each are obvious, though. There are some folks who even prefer just to use the regular handgun, though I'm not sure why.

Never said I was smart :).

I thought I'd be into it and wanted to get into the GOW multiplayer while it was going strong. Instead, RE4 sucked me in.

Dat Exclusive.

Truth be told, I would rather use a fully upgraded Handgun than the Blacktail, actually.

Again, dat exclusive. 50 firepower? That's 15 damage more per bullet than the Killer7. Since you don't get that many magnum bullets to begin with, you should be all about conserving Magnum bullets anyway. In my opinion, the Killer7 is really only useful in Mercs.

Everyone's playstyle is different, but this faq pretty much echoes my own thoughts when it comes to playing this game: http://www.gamefaqs.com/gamecube/535840-resident-evil-4/faqs/35441

Complete weapon breakdown, including firepower per second, and which weapons you should be using.

I used them on all bosses and nothing else. Verdugo, U71, Salazar, Saddler, etc., etc. Made each bullet count, emptied the clip, then switched to another weapon. Went to merchant for Capacity Upgrade for free Magnum bullets.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I wonder why CVX's 360-rotation animation is so... Stiff. :/

It wasn't so stiff on RE1-3.

Tips on El Gigante on the right path?

I forgot how to do this lol and I want the treasure cause I'm a whore.

Shoot the planks holding up the boulders on platforms to land on him. Ashley should point them out. Make sure you break the chains on the door to give yourself more room to move around (and access to more boulders, ammo, and herbs).

I feel like I'm underneath the planks all the time and it's going to crush Ashley and ima be like lol oops

After playing CV X I was very impressed by it visually. The character models are a huge improvement over the PS2 or DC version (both of which I have and played fairly recently). The backgrounds look only slightly better, but the resolution is the best improvement and what makes the models and background look better. Loving it.

Surprised it sounds like most people are not loving it.

I'm just thankful I can play these games without plugging in other systems honestly. My PS3 continues to be the center for entertainment. Makes my life simpler :p. Though I may still play RE4 on the Wii....dat pointer control. Disappointed in the lack of move support.

No, it is just as inhouse-developed as the other main entries. See here.

It was outsourced to NexTech, who were the guys responsible for developing the Sega Saturn port of the original (which introduced the Battle Mode that we subseqently saw in future iterations of the series).

I think it's the only "main" game to not be fully developed in-house at Capcom. Obviously ports of already existing games don't count.

Sorry, messed up the link. Fixed now. C:V wasn't outsourced. It's a Capcom Production Studio 4 game. See the link for more details on Nextech's and Sega's involvement.

Other games in the series also had some outside help. Capcom Production Studio 3's Resident Evil Zero had some programmers and sound designers from Tose, for example.

I'm pretty sure the boulders do hardly any damage to El Gigante and you're better off dropping them in front of him so that you can slow him down and shoot him in the head. Also, snipe the chains on the first door as soon as you enter the area and use the knife on the rest.

I've been trying to beat
tyrant 2 (seaplane)
probably for more than 2 hours, I was going to give up until i found this video. I had a grenade launcher, flame rounds, gas rounds, a handgun and mixed green herb. It was challenging.

Holy crap, according to the Veronica X leaderboard, only 28 people have beaten the 360 version so far. This thing must have sold TERRIBLY, or at least had an awful reaction from its downloaders.

Been playing on my 46" and it looks pretty good. It's obviously not what it could be, but "pure ass" is craaaaaaazy.

Its the PS3 version and maybe the only "pure ass" are the textures. My god, I walked in a hallway in the castle and the walls, no lie were so pixelated and you couldnt make out what the hell it was since it was so low quality and stretched. It stood out compared to Leon model.

Paid $10 so Im not that mad about the port but this is not good.

I didn't have any problem with how the village/forest environment looked but I was also surprised by how bad the castle area looks. The stuff in the foreground looks nice and smooth, but anything at a distance looks as pixelated and gritty as the SD version on an HDTV. Except now it's even crisper jaggies. The lack of AA didn't bother me until now.

I was going to buy CV but I think that I will hold out for a sale if any happens, I own it on DC and have beat the game multiple times on it and the cube version a while back, I want to play it again but not for 1840 msp at this time.

As for only 20 something beating it already, it is a tough cookie to new players of the series and the down talk it get's probably scared away a lot of people, I still love the game for what it is as I think it's one of the best.

Regular handgun both works because it's pretty cheap to use, and the headshot bonus is nice, although Red9 will still be more useful.

Same here. They're also very useful for making someone drop Ashley if she's being picked up or carried away..

Playing RE4 question.

I just got the president daughter, the game doesn't become somewhat of a escort mission for most of it does it? Love the game so far.
