Playing RE4 question.

I just got the president daughter, the game doesn't become somewhat of a escort mission for most of it does it? Love the game so far.
Parts of the game where Ashley is following you aren't really like true "escort missions," honestly. She doesn't get in the way too often and she ducks for cover. You have to be careful, obviously, but for the most part it's like she's barely there.

So in terms of "escort missions" as parts of games where you're hindered by a helpless follower, RE4 doesn't really fall into the mold.

All of you guys realized that she says something like "Leon you pervert" when she is standing above a ledge and you look up, right? Naturally, the same holds true when you walk up a ladder and she is already up there. But I was really surprised when that happened within one of those small movie-ish sequences. I went up the tower in the first village while Ashley was already up there. The screen cuts to the "Climbing ladder sequence" and then cuts to the position above where you will see Leon coming up and in that exact moment you see and hear Ashley saying her pervert speech. It was just so fitting. And kinda awesome that they check Leons viewpoint even when you are not directly controlling him for this interaction with ashley.

Um I think she just gets behind him and looks over his shoulder to get out of the way. Not sure she looks where you are aiming at, she just moves as you move to stay behind you.

I loved how Ashley wanted to
fuck Leon in the end, but ended up getting busted.

Whenever there's a dumpster, have her hide in it, because it means some shit is about to go down. Otherwise she's pretty easy to keep alive and safe. There are scenarios where you have to actively protect her from a distance, but only a couple. Most of the time if you're fighting enemies off to protect yourself, she will be adequately protected too.

Playing Code Veronica:
so I'm finally at the part were I got stuck on when I was like 10. When you fight the tyrant in the plane. It's so much easier if you saved most of your ammo instead of being trigger happy. He went down with 30 gun powder arrows and 2 grenades.

You don't even really need to save much ammo. Just keep all of your BOW rounds for that fight and it's done.

It's such an easy game if you're aware of the 2 or 3 "trouble spots" that typically ruin people's day. First time I played it in nearly 10 years and by the end I had enough ammo and healing items to kill god.

I'd still advise saving high damage ammo in CVX, last boss aint walk in the park either. There is also a boss where you need a spray or two, ur pretty much done if you don't.

I typically use 5 magnum bullets on her first form, the rest on her second then unload with the dual ingrams until she dies. A spray n pray weapon is good for taking out the little parasites she spits out.

God damn. The fully upgraded Broken Butterfly just took out El Gigante in two shots... on professional mode. That might actually beat the Typrwriter in terms of DPS, but the TP still has infinite ammo.

Useful for those who want to get an A-rank (rocket launcher) in REC:VX

SCORING and RANKS

Basic score

TIME
00:00:00~04:30:00 8250 points
04:30:01~05:00:00 7550 points
05:00:01~05:30:00 7000 points
05:30:01~06:00:00 6450 points

07:30:01~15:00:00 5000 points
15:00:01~20:00:00 2500 points
20:00:01~ 2000 points

Special score

1)Did you give the Hemostatic Bottle to that prison guard?
Yes = +250
No = -1000

2)The speed it took you to save Steve
Fastest = +400
Average = 0
Slow = -1000

3)Map discovery
100% = +100
Anything less = 0

4)First aid spray
No use = +1800
If used = 0

5)Save
No save = 0
First time = -1000
Every time after = -50

6)Retry
No Retry = 0
First time = -1000
Every time after = -50

Final score

10000 or above = S rank
7000-9999 = A rank
4500-6999 = B rank
2500-4499 = C rank
2499 or below = D rank

http://www.the-spoiler.com/Sinjin/RECV/recvwalk.htm

So in order to get A ranking (bare minimum), you need to complete 1 and 2, save less than 20 times, don't use the first aid, don't retry, complete the game in less than 6 hours, and discover all the maps.

Are there even S Ranks in the NA version? I don't remember the GC/DC version having an S Rank in their NA versions. Don't the Japanese versions go to S Rank, but it's the same requirements for A in NA?

How does one beat RECVX in 1 hour and 40 minutes on Normal?

I did a Very Easy run with the Rocket Launcher and made it a hair under 2 hours - and this included skipping every optional part of the game.

Does the game clock exclude certain sequences from the timer?

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
I just got to the giant statue room in RE4, got the exclusive upgrade for the rifle for a whopping 30 damage, which I think is more than it was on the GC version so that's nice to see. Why do people buy the semi auto now? :p

So I got a question for those of you who picked up RE: CVX... Was it worth it?

Ever since that one was put up, I specifically bought 1600 MSP for that game, but I have been hesitant to purchase it...I'm a long time RE fan, and I liked code veronica a lot when it came out. I love the fact it's 16x9 and has achievements, but I just don't know if I'll start playing it and go "oh no! I can't play these kinds of games anymore, because I must admit, it's been a loooonnggg time since I've beaten a classic RE title.

When it comes to doing massive damage, there are better choices than using a sniper rifle. The power on the semi-auto is good enough to pop heads and it's nice to not have to zoom out to load the next shot.

Cuz the bolt action takes way too long, and a headshot to any regular ganado is a instant kill anyway. As far as I play personally the rifle is only useful for regenerators/iron maidens, and there the quicker semi auto is far more useful.

also golf ham those 2 second load times are so amazing.

CVX is the only Mainline RE game i never finished.

At the beginning of the game, make sure you bring the empty fire extinguisher with you and leave it in a proper item box. Near the very end of the game
you can refill it to put out a fire in the arctic base to get the Magnum.
If you save all the ammo you find for when you fight
Alexia
it makes both forms considerably easier.

Once you finish collecting all 3
proofs you need to reach the cargo plane
make sure you have a decent supply of grenade/BOW rounds and/or plenty of explosive arrows, plus healing.

Before taking the
modified valve handle to shut off the gas in the arctic base, make sure you leave all your most powerful weapons and ammo behind in the item box.

Near the end of the game, before
rescuing Claire from behind the stairs, you must have at least 2 full healing items in the storage box for an upcoming encounter.
This is absolutely essential, game-breaking stuff. Otherwise, give her your most powerful grenades and maybe you'll survive, but you won't get them back for the endgame if you do that.

Also, I asked to upload my score but it didn't. What the hell? >_>

I've beaten the game long time ago already knowing all this stuff but looking back at the game I can't believe how broken it was. On your first playthrough, without using any FAQ, you could reach dead ends so many times.

Seriously, how could anyone knew that right after Alfred's death there would be a character switch and therefore you should leave all good weapons for Chris in the chest; or that you should bring at least two healing items to the Steve boss fight because it's (nearly?) impossible to escape from him without being hit at least twice; or that after Alexia separate you, you will use Claire only for a short period of time and that she really doesn't need any good weapons during that time. Or that, for the first time in the series, a knife is actually useful and you should use it, a lot, if you don't want to run out of ammo. :/

Alternatively, the epilogue image is tied with the end credits.

Chris: We've gotta destroy Umbrella now!
Claire: No, let's go shopping! I spent the last three months trying to find you because I found this really great dress I wanna show you.
Chris: Right. Just let me change my shirt. Then we'll go shopping. Then we'll destroy Umbrella once and for all!
Claire: Chris! I love you so much it's almost creepy.

At least with this new epilogue image they got Claire's hips right. In the old picture (and in the game) it looks like her pants are way above her belly button, because her hips are so low. In the new image, even though her jeans are in the the same place, thanks to her hips being higher, her figure finally looks alright.

Can anyone post score screens from Battle Mode? I'm curious how they remade them (especially Wesker's, the fake flame on his ending screen in CVX was laughable :D).

No shit.

One thing also dawned on me.

What will happen if you use the Indigo Eagle Plate on the Door in the Guillotine area, rather than the box with the Blue Keycard inside?

I will try to get some Battle Mode screens later on if no one else has - but I haven't got Steve. I think I might've missed unlocking him or something as I was doing an A-Rank run. So, errr, do I have to COMPLETE THE GAME AGAIN to unlock Steve? :(

There are two Indigo Eagle Plates in the game, you can reach both without using the other one.

Yeah,
you need to get the Luger replica when playing as Chris in the saveroom right before you leave Rockfort.

I finished it yesterday. Just under 6 hours, but I did spend a lot of time admiring the graphics and watching all the cutscenes again too. Forgot how much I enjoyed this game, good memories of the Dreamcast era *sigh*

Now to start the rocket launcher speedrun.

Where did you get that time from (maybe I'm blind, but I don't really saw what post you reacted to)? But anyway, I looked for speedruns on the net, fastest I found was this one at 1:51:57, maybe there are some new tricks in it for you.
I'm surprised this game can be finished that fast, it strikes me as a lot longer than RE2, best time I could do there was around 1:15.

lol -1000 for a save, personally I find cv is annoying without saving at least once before
mutated Steve chase
fuck that random shit.

^ That particular moment is pretty easy to overcome if you bring healing items, though. I didn't feel like there was anything random about it having played it three times in the past 24 hours (A-Rank Retries).

Nosferatu's whole poisoning mechanic is what pisses me off. Sometimes you get hit ONCE and you're poisoned. Hit about TWELVE TIMES and you're not. It's weird, and getting poisoned is so annoying for an A-Rank run so I have to restart from the "Free Save" so many times. :(

So happy to be done with the main game now. Looking forward to jumping into the Battle Mode.

Must be tense dealing with regenerators. I can't really think of a scenario in the game where the damage of the rifle is important.

Finished my Pro run with 20 deaths, half of which came from the Krauser fight. But I eventually managed to beat him by shooting him in the legs with the magnum and then using the knife. Only one death was from Ashley getting killed, so I'm glad I went with Special 1.

Only thing left to do is unlock the handcannon, but I'm in no hurry to set scores in Mercenaries only I will ever see.

Okay I'm starting to get mad. I get hit twice and I'm dead and I've had like 5 yellow herbs in me (lololol)

I don't remember this being this hard when I was 14.

Picked up Code Veronica on Friday and been really enjoying playing it again, looks much better then I remember it (thanks to upgrade) and I really don’t understand the complaints about it being too dark, have no problem at all.

Also does anyone know if 4 and CV are sharable on PS3? A friend of mine got 4 and wants to try out CV so I figured we could do a swap if its possible but wanted to check on here first.
