Replaying single-player on hard, I'm using it a lot. You can kill Stalkers really easily with the secondary fire of the LAARK.
I shoot a LAARK to the side of them when they are turning to face me, basically missing them on purpose, then, as they are turning, stop it with the airbrake, re-aim directly at the stalker, and when it is facing me and about to unload on me, release the LAARK. It hits them directly in their vulnerable back plate 99% of the time, making quick work of them.

To the best of my knowledge, the LAARK thing works like this:

Your Primary Fire Launches the LAARK.

Your secondary Controls the Airbrake. This can either slow the LAARK down (use a very light touch on the button) or stop it completely in mid-air (hold down button completely)

When the airbrake is deployed, a laser designator tracks wherever you are aiming the rocket launcher. The airbraked LAARK rocket will travel toward this newly designated target whenever it is released.

Hitting Primary Fire again and holding it down releases the LAARK clusters.

I played through the campaign and played online for over a month before I knew about the LARK's secondary secondary function. Though I had heard about it, I just didn't know how to use it.

With the homing clusters, you can park the rocket over a somewhat high traffic area and typically squeeze out two kills from each rocket. It seems a bit cheap, but I suppose if you happen to run over and pick up a lark, rather than camping it....

Not quite. Marconelly said that the story, lore, and characterization was not "communicated" in a compelling way as effectively as the new SCEE website does.
The SCEE site presents very similar things that are in the game - a story told from the perspective of a servicewoman called tor duty to work in a secretive intelligence unit, various pieces establishing the timeline of the Chimera invasion from Russia to Britain, scenes of devastation across Europe, images and details of gorey post mortems, etc...
There is actually a ton of story material already established in Resistance as some of the more dedicated players have discovered - however the process of discovering it requires a lot of digging by the player and I agree that it was probably not delivered in the game in as dramatic/immersive/immediate a way as it could have been.
Then again to be fair, Insomniac did not have the equivalent amount of time, budget, and dedicated resources that went into this top notch bit of marketing...

Suggestions suggest(!) that creating parties and going into ranked games together would be the preferred thing to do for the meet ups. So no longer do the first one to get online create a room but instead invite everyone to a party. This however makes it very important that you're all a part of the NeoGAF clan (pm kaching with details, make sure you've logged on to Resistance online at least once before) or simply have all folks listed above on your friend list. Again, the first one to get online should start a party and invite the others as they come online.

Also, it has come to my attention that over 20 people have started to show up for these meetups and that means one party is not enough. If that is the case then one of you simply need to create a second party. If you're the party leader (of either) then posting your details in this thread would be helpful.



The Wedge tactic explained:

The "flying wedge" is the term given to our tendency to mob together in a violent swarm and shoot the everliving hell out of anyone who dares get near us. It leads to multiple assists per kill which leads to a 20-60% increase in points. 16 points for a kill is far better than 10!

It does not, despite its name, resemble a true flying wedge - although generally whoever is at the front of the pack will get gunned down while those behind break through and destroy the opposition. So maybe it's not completely inaccurate.

Also people, it would be a big plus if everyone invested in a headset. For headset details and recommendations, follow this link. Good group play is helped by using your headset to report in changes that occur in the heat of battle. Enemy groups, Snipers, Node status and so forth.

A great addition was made to http://www.myresistance.net on Monday Feb 5th in the form of leaderboards viewable straight from the site. It's time to get famous or die trying.

According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, it made ~28 million dollars just on Friday night.

If the God of War movie script details listed at AlphaSnake's site are true, it's probably getting the green light right about now...

Here's hoping they step it up in those areas with the sequel, while keeping everything that's already great.

Sorry about my possessed mic, guys. I guess I'll be getting a new one soon. Too bad there's no wired mic that attaches to the top of the controller or something. These bluetooth headsets seem to vary wildly in quality.

Any good suggestions? The mic I use currently is a Plantronics Voyager 510.

I played horrible tonight - hasn't been this bad since I first started playing.

I adjusted my look sensitivity from 2 to 3, so that might have contributed, but still...yuck.

I don't know if I'll be on Sunday night, but I hope to be.

Thanks for the fun games, it was my first time playing in a 40 player match. I was pretty terrible at first, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Also, sorry about being unable to use my mic.

Unless you like sniping, there is no reason for your look sensitivity to be that low.

I've had it at 2 for almost since the beginning - I couldn't take the reticle flying all over the place when it was set higher.

I'm actually pretty good with it. Usually, when playing ranked free for all games by myself, I can get 25+ kills and sub 15 deaths. A look sensitivity of 2 worked really well.

But, my look up/down is terribly slow at 2. Messes me up in some fire fights. So, I've started to adjust it higher. Guess I'll suck for a while before I get used to it.

See I was right last night when I said Gaf people are harder to kill then normal people. I unloaded clips in people and they wouldn't die coughSutdawgcough.

No kidding. SleazyC has some sort of super armor on. I've shot him for 7 seconds straight sometimes and he'd just look at me like my bullets were made of plastic. Also, at The Mall, I saw him going for the LAARK, so I threw a Hedgehog DIRECTLY ON HIM and he walked right through it like it was a water balloon.

Sutdawg has good armor on too... ><
