We all switch to X-Ray to keep yaking.

We then all switch to different squads based on role during the team-objective maps. Sadly, I never ever remember which one I'm supposed to be on unless someone specifically says "node x and node y, switch to yankee, everyone else stay on x-ray" so I just stay quiet and stay on Xray. :lol

Sorry you couldn't get in jjasper. The problem was that we could send you messages but you were not showing up in any of the lists so it was not possible to invite. The server seemed to have problems today so hopefully it is just a one time incident.

People often voice-chat within squads. Select a squad by pressing triangle at the screen before the game starts or by pressing start in-game. It's open mic within squads (unless you mute someone) and you can still talk to everyone by pressing L3.


I would also like to point out that the mute option doesn't seem to exist at the party screen. What's up with that?

It ok thanks for trying. yeah I don't know what was up all my stats were gone none and of my equipment was there either don't know what's up.

Oh well maybe it was a one time thing. I just played some random ranked matches. It took me a little bit to get back to form. I think the first 2 round I played my kill death ratio was about 1:2 but by the end of the night I was rockin' out 1:1.

Somerset is officially the most annoying map in Resistance. The sniper whores completely ruin most games - once they set up, it's very difficult to get rid of them.

Just about everyone complains about it....

Nothing wrong with being a sniper whore :D However my style of sniping usually doesn't involve camping anywhere - I like to run and gun and take out the other snipers from the woods.

If people call out where they get sniped at me, Sutdawg, BigE or whoever else can usually take them out in no time.

As soon as somebody on our team gets sniped coming out of the middle fort - EVERYONE needs to hit the air vents and come out the tree tops. That's the easiest spot for snipers to rack up the kils.

I'll now take time out of my busy morning at work to post how much I hate Somerset. It is the worst map in the entire game and it comes up way too often. I'm at the point where if it's not FFA I feel like quiting it. The weapon spawns need to be fixed so that a sniper rifle spawns in the fort. Once a team gets sniper hill and sniper wall you are screwed to be stuck in the fort. The sniper in the woods should be in the fort like in FFA.

I'd also like to point out that Nottingham is the best map ever and ir rarly comes up :(.

I also wanna say that I hope the next patch that includes the world wide servers actually fixes the shotgun range and damage. Also taking out the known glitches would be nice since the last patch was supposed to do that but people still go on top of the Lexington, inside the rooftop and that other map wall and outside the map on somerset.

Nottingham is the worst map (except for breach). It's just mass chaos everytime. I hate quitting and hate when people quit; so I'll play it if it comes up. But it's the ONLY map I'd rather not play in a game of FFA.

Snipers are always good targets for a stealth kill or two. Since the countermeasures there is a lot less cheating going on, that's at least my impression. Nottingham in FFA is always great for arc charger or dragon multi-kills, there are always small groups of easy targets.

Yeah I agree, and I personally don't mind Sumerset. Although I do agree that it comes up too much. I played 8 matches last night and 5 were Sumerset

Freaking Somerset. I swear, we get Somerset Meltdown or Somerset Team Deatchmatch more than 50% of the time. The auto match making systems seems to have gone down hill since we started having less than 15 guys on clan nights - there simply isn't enough variety anymore.

Insomniac:

1. Add another sniper rifle to Somerset - put it in the fort, PLEEEEEAAAAASE!
2. Fix the match making - repeated Somerset games are driving us MAD.
3. The Carbine is SHIT! Wicked at headshots, but utter turd at any anything else. It's so hard to do head shots with it, it may as well be a wooden club.
4. Carbine's secondary fire is crappy - it's splash damage is non-existent! Unless it's a direct hit, you won't get the kill or even do significant damage.

There's probably more...Oh, wait, there is:

- WHEN WILL THE NEW MAPS BE RELEASED?!?
- HOW MUCH WILL THEY COST??

The only reason why I don't like Somerset anymore is because we get it so damn much. Even though the sniping on it is a pain, it wouldn't matter to me if every other damn game we played wasn't on Somerset. At least then we wouldn't run into so many snipers.

Otherwise, it's a great map - very varied, big, terrific fights in the brushes, etc.

The carbine's secondary fire is a one-hit kill. Just aim down, so if you miss them, you hit the ground right next to them. And I think there would be a lot more people complaining about the splash damage being too great than too little (see also: Laark).

And headshots being more powerfull than other body shots is normal. Sure the carbine doesn't do much damage on the body. But, if body shots and headshots do similar damage it kind of defeats the point of having headshots and makes getting headshots that much less rewarding. The extra varied damage for the carbine also reinforces varied weapon tactics. What I mean is: if I am using the carbine, I know that I have to aim for the head and make shots that are higher up on the character. Much like: if I have a weapon like the arc charger or shotgun, I should need to be in close range or the weapon won't do nearly as much damage.

That's what makes it awesome, who ever would've thought that circles on circles would be so much fun. And that Meltdown Grimsby game we played where there was 7 nodes was awesome. Haven't seen 7nodes in a long time.

Nah, Carbine's just straight garbage up against a raging Chimera with a bullseye. You'll lose that exchange 9 times out of 10.

Oh and in Chimera v. Chimera matches, both teams can't have the same color x-ray vision. One side should see purple in rage mode and the other side should see in green or something. I also propose that in Human v. Human matches each side gets a completely different soldier loadout. Make the skins much brighter and a lot easier to differentiate. I know it would go against the game's color palette, but who cares?

It's really tough to tell which chimera is which, particularly with rage. Both chimeras look the same through walls, so it's hard to tell who's an enemy and who's a friendly. Also, if you're using a sniper rifle, it's hard to tell who's who, since name tags don't show up at a great distance.

It really depends on the distance. Bullseye shots travel slower than carbine ones, and are less accurate unless the target is tagged. So, at a good distance, carbine wins over bullseye.

that's where the different colors would come in. :)

Something I'd like to see happen is that if Human vs Human and Chimera vs Chimera are gonna stay 2rounds that they switch up the race for the second round. I think it would be cooler then two straight rounds as the same race.

I totally agree that chimera on chimera is the toughest match for me at least to differentiate, and that human on human can be tricky too. I hate maps like rooftops with lots of low fences and walls scattered around that block the name tags a lot when both teams are the same species.

I totally agree with all you said especially 3 and 4. No splash damage lol!

I don't mind as long as they make the two teams more distinguishable, maybe some sort of stripes or something, but then they still have to balance the visibility of the two teams. Humans vs Humans I don't have as big a problem because the other team has helmets and backpacks. Chimera vs. Chimera is a bit tough.

These days I always go for a sniper location first at either side of the canal to pre-empt people setting up sniper wall. I'll get 1-2 escorts/snipers too if the opposing team is strong.

If I'm too late (or I forgot), I would strafe-and-snipe from the forest... or attack them with 40mm grenades from under the bridge. Or wait for a team of 3 and then do a sniper sweep. But it will be an uphill game (and extremely frustrating :( ).

How many people in the team ? I hope they fix the random number generator for mid sized team too.

When I play alone or in small team (TDM), the variety is great. e.g.,
* Thames
* The Mall
* Subway
* Busyard
* Rooftop
* Carrier
* Manchester 1 (Downtown)
* Manchester 2 (Base)
* Manchester 3 (Base + 2 Towers)
* Manchester 4 (Entire map, including the Cathedral)
* Grimsby 1 (Base)
* Grimsby 2 (Outdoor + indoor map)
* Grimsby 3 (around Papa)
* Grimsby 4 (Papa + "Round House")
* Grimsby 5 (Entire map)
* Nottingham 1 (Papa only)
* Nottingham 2 (around Papa)
* Nottingham 3 (The entire area, including the outer ring)
* Somerset 1 (Fort only)
* Somerset 2 (Fort + Tree tops)
* Somerset 3 (The entire area)

I agree with TheJer that the Carbine is fine the way it is. The Carbine is very annoying, more so than the Bullseye if loaded with 40mm grenade. In a map like Thames, you can rack up instant kills just camping by the 2 40mm grenade points.

I can tell the color difference better now. When in doubt (well... always), shoot first talk later. An enemy would moan or grunt when shot, a friendly guy feels no pain. Shoot at the barrels if said soldier's name start with "Aeon". There is no court martial in Resistance.

It is a good thing snipers can't tell friend or foe from too far... or it would be impossible to play Somerset.

Not having the nametags at a distance really makes a difference when you are sniping. If you already have the crosshairs over someone, you've pretty much already taken the shot and already wasted time aiming for them.

And normally you take the shot as the reticle moves over them because typically they and/or you are moving. You don't take time aiming just perfectly as much and don't actually notice any reticle color change by the time you've taken a shot (at least I don't notice it when I take shots).

Had some fun last night doing some FFA's to raise my K/D. I won 5 in a row even thought Efertlis says I said I won 6. When you own people as much as I do it's hard to keep count :lol. I love mysel for being this cocky. Afterwards me and Efertlis started wrecking teams and even got in a game with M3 and Jer

Suggestions suggest(!) that creating parties and going into ranked games together would be the preferred thing to do for the meet ups. So no longer do the first one to get online create a room but instead invite everyone to a party. This however makes it very important that you're all a part of the NeoGAF clan (pm kaching with details, make sure you've logged on to Resistance online at least once before) or simply have all folks listed above on your friend list. Again, the first one to get online should start a party and invite the others as they come online.

Also, it has come to my attention that over 20 people have started to show up for these meetups and that means one party is not enough. If that is the case then one of you simply need to create a second party. If you're the party leader (of either) then posting your details in this thread would be helpful.



The Wedge tactic explained:

The "flying wedge" is the term given to our tendency to mob together in a violent swarm and shoot the everliving hell out of anyone who dares get near us. It leads to multiple assists per kill which leads to a 20-60% increase in points. 16 points for a kill is far better than 10!

It does not, despite its name, resemble a true flying wedge - although generally whoever is at the front of the pack will get gunned down while those behind break through and destroy the opposition. So maybe it's not completely inaccurate.

Also people, it would be a big plus if everyone invested in a headset. For headset details and recommendations, follow this link. Good group play is helped by using your headset to report in changes that occur in the heat of battle. Enemy groups, Snipers, Node status and so forth.

Insomniac Games and Sony Computer Entertainment are happy to announce that we will be instituting a new ban policy for Resistance: Fall of Man online gameplay, effective immediately. Players may report cheaters using lag devices or using exploits to leave the intended playable area. Make a report by sending a private message to the MyResistance.Net "cheating" account (username: cheating). Cheating and the use of in-game exploits is not allowed in any game type, including custom and private games.

To enforce this policy we have in-game moderators documenting players who are involved in using, discovering, or sharing exploits with others. These moderators have the ability to join and observe any game or user in ranked, custom, or private games without the knowledge of the players in those games.

Initial bans for first-time offenders will be 24 hours. Bans will grow in length with each successive rules-violation, and attempts to circumvent a ban are grounds for an extension of it.

Would it be best to play online hardwired vs. wireless?

Doesn't matter - I've seen lag a total of 2 times in my entire Resistance experience online...and I've had the thing since launch while playing it wireless.
