Returnal may be headed to Steam!

Most likely, we are talking about games-services.
And most likely, they will immediately go to the PC, along with the console.
Because these are games built on microtransactions.
There is another logic at work here.
Yeah I mean Sony have what 12 live service games in development, so that will make up most of the list - GT7, Factions 2 etc, and then some other games are being held off.

I think they do.

good for you. buy i'd rather not waste £450 on a PS5 if their games are going to eventually release on PC. i don't care if i have to wait a year, two, or more. I'm not spending £450 on something I don't really need.

also, you'll get it for cheaper on PC. and of course...much better graphics/performance than PS5.
So don't buy a PS5. Buy a PC. No one is forcing you to buy the console and no one at Sony really cares if you buy the game on PC or console because you're still buying the game. There's a reason Microsoft went to PC and now Sony is following suit. The money is too good to pass up. Profit margin on a console is minimal. Microtransactions and software is where the bulk of revenue is generated.

If mouse and keyboard is in, I might actually get somewhere in this game

Of course, Days Gone supports mouse and keyboard, and (key rebinding).

With Nixxes handling it I think it's fair to say you'll be in safe hands with regards to graphical settings and ultrawide support etc.

I think he said half of their PS Studio games to PC and mobile.

I don't think they will port full on console games to Mobile... if they do, people will not need to worry about cross gen holding games back anymore that's for sure 🤣

so save to say that these mobile games will be standalone games, like spinoffs

Won't miss extra game cost on my rig. Already upgraded ps plus to extra with 6 months remaining for $20 with Returnal, Morales, GoT, Demon's Soul.. Basically i rent them $5 each 🤣

Exactly.

Making it not worth getting a PS5 to play these games day one makes even more sense since getting a PS5 is tough to begin with. In order to play all these Sony exclusives day one requires someone scoring a system. It's been 1.5 years since system launch and there's still tons of gamers who cant even find one yet. So if access to playing games is hard enough, might as well stick to PC and everyone has one at home. And if someone doesn't have a decent PC at home, it's easier to buy one or build one than finding a PS5 unless they go the ebay scalped route.

Who knows when Returnal comes put for PC, but unless PS5 stock ramps up, it might get to a point a gamer will have an easier time playing it (on PC), than playing it on a PS5.

In most cases, console gamers are not going to suddenly become PC gamers. There are plenty of people who still game on Xbox despite every first party game being on PC. If these gamers don't mind waiting 1-2 years for the possibility of a PS port to PC then I doubt they will mind having to wait and spend a lot less money getting a PS5.

Meh...I'd rather have ps4 era ports first. This may bomb on PC. I am not sure how many pc gamers have specs that match a PS5. Add some Sony PC unoptimization on top a la HZD or God of war and you will have only top end rigs being able to run this game with good fps.

Too small of a target market.
lol the high end pc market is not in the 500 million range like consoles, but its in the millions....1 million is more than enough for sony to recoup and be more than happy with its sales. so dont worry, the high end crowd is there on pc....plus these type of games sell very well on PC because its a hardcore crowd. soulsbourne games tells you everything....plus hentai games.

don't worry, there's a lot of PC gamers that have PCs that not only match but exceed the specs of a PS5.

PS5 came out in 2020. the PC market moves quickly. did you know we have GPUs that are 40TF and we have SSDs that can do 7.1GB/s and will soon be able to go up to 14.2GB/s?

PS5 might have had impressive specs in 2020 against a PC but we're not in 2020 anymore. PS5 is not that great in terms of PC now.
Just 1 or 2% that buy every year new GPU have better specs than ps5 . Most people have of the shelf pc that is not that much capable. Stop thinking you and your cycle is all the market, to build a decent pc that will last you couple years you need at least 800€ without counting the peripherals. It's not cheap and not all world leave in America or west Europe with over 2000€ income. A console is better, cheaper and more reliable than a pc. (I had pc when everyone could only see one in the classroom).

Rotgland lobber ftw.
I wonder how they will do teleporting, loading and door opening. PC does not have direct IO and I think this game uses it a lot

do you have numbers how how many cards have sold that are on the level of an RTX3060 or up?

I would bet those are more than the amounts of PS5s sold

RTX3060 and RTX2070s level cards match PS5 quality most of the time (with RT on they beat it usually)

so you combine sales for the RTX2070s, 2080, 2080s, 2080ti, Titan RTX, 3060, 3060ti, 3070, 3070ti, 3080, 3080ti, 3090 and 3090ti
and then you'll have the number of PCs out there matching or beating PS5 performance

and that's only the Nvidia side of things

without ray tracing you can also add the 1080, 1080ti, Titan X and Titan XP

Yeah lets ignore the 50m RTX 3xxx and RDNA 3 graphics cards that were sold in 2021 alone. Even mid-range of RTX 3xxx and RDNA3 is faster than the ps5.

You're out of touch with reality.

MS owning Windows is irrelevant as far as Valve is concerned. Valve doesn't pay Microsoft a dime for its client to be on Windows. Sony could create their own store on Windows and also not pay a dime to Microsoft. Of course they won't since Steam is king and it would probably be just as unsuccessful as the MS store in PC gaming. The fact that both Microsoft and Sony have to use Steam is about as much proof that Valve owns PC gaming market as anything.
If we want to say it all, argue that the developers and sole owners of the entire Windows platform, as well as the only ones who have a say on which "rules" each individual app must follow, as well as the only ones who decide such as API live or die (see DirectX and DirectStorage), as well as the only ones who can afford to take all the visibility they want in the way and where they want (see the request to try gamepass during the installation of Windows 11 or see the Xbox app is the only one pre-installed in the system) says a lot about how any random app developer (as Sony would be in this case). Let's remember that Microsoft has only recently started to invest seriously in gaming and has spent almost 100b over gamepass. It's not just about % over the revenue

Thats the point. And another reason why PC gamers can wait a couple years not caring. So that narrative about teasing gamers with old games to get them to buy a PS5 is pointless if the console is hard to get to begin with. Just wait for the PC game. By the time it's easy to get a PS5, the PC version might already be out. So sit back and just play on PC without the fuss or waiting for console stock.

My response was to the other guy who said if someone wants to play the latest games asap, play it asap. But that requires first getting the console.

The more and faster Sony release their games on PC, the less people will buy PS exclusive games on PS5, sub to PS+, buy PS hardwares, and even buy 3rd party games on PS5
This is just speculation though. I'd speculate that no more than 3m people would switch from PS to PC (from the standard 100m-120m install base).

PC is just not a mainstream platform. The average working man can spend £350 on a PS5, grab a pad and play FIFA for an hour when the kids are in bed. The average working man will not spend 1k plus on a PC set up just because God of War is now on PC.

Out of the 100m PS4s sold only 20m bought GoW, how many of that 20m are bothered enough to swap to PC? Probably even less than my initial 3m estimate.

But what is the use of having a console with supposed exclusives, if it will eventually come out on PC?

There is no point in having a ps5, for that it is better to have a high-end pc.
REALLY ?!!!!
TRIGGER ALARM TRIGGER ALARM !!!!!!

Like wtf?! I would say the opposite - There is no reason to own a high-end pc!!!
-You wait 2 years for games
-It costs 4-6 times more. No. It's not 2x more.
-It can be a pain in the ass with launchers, drivers, settings, weird mouse support or not depenging on the game... sometimes there is an error and the game works for everyone else. We all had that experience.
-You can achieve better graphics? hahaha sure. For 3k usd and get marginally better resolution.

Dude. I have 3080pc and ps5. The point of ps5 is not to be highest end gear. It is a 400$ machine that have exclusive, amazing games day 1. It is plug and play comfort entertaining system. For those tired of bs.
If pc and ps5 were the same price, I would still pick a console.
That said - I love pc but I like to tinker a lot and experiment. But not always. Many times I like to chill.
For example - I want to play AC origins and I am getting it for PS. I dont want uplay and 60fps patch should be out soon. My experience on pc would not be that much better

Nobody will ever know the correct formula, but by the looks of it, if Sony is going big into PC the next few years it shows their math tells a story it has more gains than losses. So do it.

It's like those old Apple and PC threads I used to read 20 years ago where Apple was struggling (before ipods and Intel Macs came out). All the Apple purists said they'd leave if they copied PC with Intel innards (Motorola Altivec are way better). When Apple went full steam with itunes on PC and their Macs suddenly had Intel cores, who gives a shit about the legacy rebels who loved Apple since the 80s. There's way more gains going after the PC crowd vs. losing a small number of hardcore fans bolting to buying a Dell or HP.

What does it matter how many Rtx30 have been sold? People don't build pc for just playing games, there people who want to mine, people who want to edit or have a decent pc for their personal reasons. My father was buys 2000-3000€ PC ( with peripherals, after saving for years) for just casually altering family photo on a cracked Photoshop and play Solitaire. I think half the forum thinks whoever has PC is a gamer....

well, ok then, lets say only 50% use them for gaming, that's still more units sold than the PS5

Yeah....they have all that and still Steam is king. Maybe that will change one day. But as of right now, Valve holds all the cards.

Console gamers can wait just as well. Just because they do not have a PS5 doesn't mean they don't have a gaming system at all. For someone who prefers consoles, and there are many, they could buy an XSS and play games there and wait for PS5. Or just stick to PS4. PC is not the only alternative to PS5.

haha, I really wanted to play this. Figured it wasn't coming so accelerated my ps5 buying plan and got one last week, bought this too.....typical. Guess I'll be double dipping so I can play it in ultrawide. Good to see though. Hopefully it comes with all the nice haptic features the PS5 version has.

Does this 50m are gamers or just regular people that bought a pc/laptop for thousands reasons? How much cost the card and how much a Ps5. I think you have to wake up from your reality because you want to compare a GPU that is useless without all the other parts and cost almost the same as a Part.

exactly....pc gamers are in the millions. so no need to make statements that say we dont have the crowd to play ps5 level games...we have plenty of numbers to play at ps5 level and more.

The haptics legit broke my R2. Such a good game.
Do an experiment and play it with a muted tv. And disable the controller speakers.
You will still hear everything through vibration lol

So... Whats the point to get a ps5?

I get your point totally. Sony is shooting themselves in the foot for 1million sales tops.

But PC will be more expensive to buy off the bat, and not everyone wants to play on them for their living room device. And games older than Ghosts of Returnal havent come over yet. Im not waiting for these games. 70% of my gaming is Nintendo and Playstation 1st party

50m discrete desktop graphics cards. Yes that means 50m next gen gaming graphics cards not including laptops or anything else. Learn basic terminology before you try to argue or you look like a fool.

A PC is always better value since it can do thousands of things compared to a useless $500 plastic box that can only play games but it also fails at gaming compared to a decent PC. Can't think of a worse value proposition.

Source? I'd like to see the source of this. Where are the receipts?

How much does a high-end PC cost?
My pc which is 2019 3700x/x570 (one of lower tier x570 motherboards), 16gb ram, only 3.0 nvme drives (not 4.0) and 3080fe.
All at msrp and it was still more than 2k usd.... and it's years old.
haha talk about high end now

I have both and a pc is not the same as console. Console has some advantages and pc other advantages, both are good for gaming depends what you want. But whoever has a discrete GPU is not a gamer..and I prefer to be fool and not think that everyone who buys a GPU is a gamer.
