If Sony buys From then its goodbye to Souls games to me. No way their games would remain the same with modern Sony touch. Not to mention disgusting Hermen would demand them to make a Horizon Souls, blergh

???
Ever played Demons Souls or Bloodborne….
Hermens not gonna be around forever

More quality visuals and frames and still day 1 on PC, and I'll be happy. 1 year later on PC will be fine too. 2+ years and this will suckakaki.

Well if they do purchase Kadokawa then it isnt just media related is it?

If it happens it means they will also be buying Spike Chunsoft, FromSoftware, Acquire and Gotcha Gotcha Games

I would expect current Sony to close down every game dev studio except from Software.

Yes it's a nice bonus to have from Software but let me rephrase it. It's mostly media related.

Why would you celebrate a corporate consolidation my bro?

Sony has plenty of M&A money after Paramount buyout and See takeover in India fell apart. They can overpay a hefty premium for Kadokawa too, since it’s not that expensive to begin with.

Sony does have plenty of cash, but you should know that the Paramount buyout was never budgeted and was not meant to be the full company, which is why it fell apart. They just wanted the film/tv production, they didn't want Paramount+ or the broadcast channels.

It was Zee not See, and that wasn't a cash deal. They were simply going to merge Sony Pictures India with Zee and create culver studios which Sony was going to own a majority share and then investment capital in.

His down bad 😂

This guy is an all time moron, but I'll give him a pass since he is recovering from a stroke.

Sony has more than enough cash on hand to buy Kadokawa. This is as close to a done deal as you can get.

He thinks the premium is 4.3x... which I don't think I've ever seen before in my life...

I don't think he's wrong, I think they'll operate like bungie does.
It doesn't make sense to lock out millions of users just because they don't game on playstation
I think that’s a very plausible scenario. But he says it with the confidence of someone who’s hoping that something goes his way as if he knows the details of a deal that hasn’t happened yet.

Also for all the purple forum people who are trying to convince themselves that FromSoftware will somehow fall under Sony Music Entertainment... Sony Music Entertainment has never made a AAA console video game. They've never owned a AAA console developer. There is ZERO chance Sony group assigns FromSoftware to Sony Music.

This is pure hopium.

Even if Kadokawa was left independent to operate as Sony Anime Entertainment or something along those lines, FromSoftware wouldn't continue to fall under them.

There is a good chance that Kadokawa would end up under Sony Music Japan, but FromSoftware won't be a part of that.

Lol ms ain't getting shit if this does go through.

The only real regulator pushback will probably be from the anime/manga business anyway.

There are no regulatory concerns for anime/manga.

Let's put this argument to rest.

This is not the ABK deal nor is it even the equivalent to the ABK deal in that industry.

People who have no idea what they're talking about want to pretend like Kadokawa is the #1 name in anime/manga... they aren't. They're not even close.

Not sure why some see buying Kadokawa is about Elden Ring.

All I see is Sony want to capture the manga/anime IPs.

What worries me is the ridiculous Sony censorship affecting future manga/anime release under Kadokawa.

Did you hear, guys? Apparently, locking down exclusives like The Elder Scrolls, Starfield, and Indiana Jones is fine for a failing console brand, but when the market leader keeps FromSoftware's gems exclusive to PlayStation, it suddenly becomes a huge issue.
I genuinely don't comprehend these people. how can you contradict yourself on a constant basis and be so unaware of it?!

This is so bad. I can't imagine the despair inside From Software right now. Sony has been on the "What the hell are we doing" script. Kojima is apparently distancing himself from the company. It's a common fear. Sony has bought studios, was one of the ones that made massive layoffs, closed several studios, even closed one that failed to deliver a successful game.

Sony itself has already admitted that it has management problems. Of course, all of this is the result of a huge escalation of failures with AAA games in the West. What will happen to FS in Sony's hands if they deliver a game below 80? Will they shut it down as well? Will they send woke devs from California to FS? Sony is in no position to deal with them, in fact, their studios are declining, it seems like a total mess. I think that for the good of From Software this deal can never be done.

Sony plans to spin off its financial services division, Sony Financial Group, by October 2025. This move could potentially raise up to $20 billion, depending on market conditions and investor interest. The division includes life and auto insurance, banking, and retirement products. Sony aims to focus more on its core businesses in electronics and entertainment while retaining a 20% stake in the financial entity post-spin-off.

I think they are more than fine to buy more than that. Why is he pitty?

If kodakawa (or whatever the name of the company is) is willing to sell, be glad it's Sony who's buying it. Could be worse.

Frankly, in the case of companies that are openly traded through the stock market, there can be no talk of any independence. You either control a controlling block of shares or sooner or later you will be bought.
If you do not want such a fate, do not put your company on the open exchange.

And if it really gets into the economy, either Sony or Tencent would buy them, so the question is who would buy them faster, as they say, choose your poison to taste Tencent or Sony.
Both companies were actively buying up the company's shares, clearly not in order to put them under the mattress and forget about them.
