Its good that people challenge the prices. I hope you express equal concern at Xbox releasing 2tb Series X's for £550 this far into the gen. And I hope you banged your tambourine just as loud when buying your 4090.

Yeah it was very niche back then and almost considered a kids thing. There was kind of an ageist thing with the arcades too and the home handheld electronic ones. I think many adults were interested, but maybe just felt awkward knowing how to get into it without feeling awkward. My uncle had an intellivision and my ole man wore out my ogre eater pac man clone before giving it to me as a birthday present lol

That xbox is an expensive stupid machine too.

But, this is where we get into people just having different feelings and different ideas of ideas ov value of items.

So, for example. I do not feel like the ps5 pro is a great investment at 700 pounds without the disk drive. £830 with what I need to match my disk ps5s. So, now we look at ones perceived cost. Mine is based on previous prices and that i think Sony is kinda spanking their users by not including the disk drive and stand.

Then we look at a gpu. I bought my 4090 day one which is now 2 years ago. For the price I paid £1579. Nothing came close to the performance it provided and it's 24gb of memory at the time smoked the 4080...plus ...ahh I'm just waffling.


Basically some will think the 4090 is a rip off and the ps5 pro is a bargain. Others won't. Others will also think they are both worth it. It's as simple as that I think.

Off-topic: I thought I was the only one who needed 8bitdo Wireless adapter for Nintendo Switch. Why is it at 4th place? I guess people reallly prefer Dualsense over Switch Pro controller when playing on Switch.

How viable a $700 console without a disk drive is on the market will be determined over the next year or so. How well is it selling in Jan 25, in June 25, etc. Will be interesting to see how that goes.

#2 best seller at gamestop it seems to be doing well everywhere. I'm hoping support is more robust than 4 pro I can imagine eventually most AAA games old and new supporting it and GAAS games being updated.

It isn't meaningless. It just doesn't tell the whole story as to how successful it will be. To me, this whole thread is perfectly fine response to those who are claiming that since Pro didn't sell out, it isn't selling and it is a flop. Clearly, the "best sellers" list indicates it is selling.

Seeing that the console is still available on preorder everywhere (at least here in France) is a first since... Wow, long time. Even the PS VITA was sold out, the PS PORTAL too, for weeks. But it seems that a 920€ console is a bit much.

That's why the console being at the top of the best seller list matters. It is clearly selling. Sony anticipated demand much better with Pro than with prior products.

There were 200k Vitas and 400k Portals on hand to sell but 10 million PS5 Pros on hand

We simply don't have enough information to make logical decisions but that doesn't stop people I understand

You can find comfort in the fact that the Wii U launched within 20-25% of the Wii.

Sony could have their strongest hardware launch of all time and the design could still be their biggest gaming hardware flop of all time. The two aren't mutually exclusive at all. If the unit's failure is important to you, there is still hope at this point. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Bought the AW2 DLC the other day for 12 Eurotrons - This is going to be my first PS5 Pro experience (really hope the second, Control-tied incoming DLC is good).

I've also put BM:Wukong, WH: Space marine 2 on the back burner and I've yet to play both final fantasy XVI and FFVII remake pt.2.

Think I'm good for 2024 😉

Yeah, true. I think it's a bit of that and the sticker shock is still very much present as to why orders are still available.

I also believe that many gamers don't check or even know about DF, who have primarily been the ones to show the side by side comparisons of these games to justify the Pro's existence. I think once the Console is out there and people toot their horns about the differences then some may concede and get one. I definitely believe there will be availability at launch.

It does feel a little silly when you look back on rushing to get a pre order in when it's still readily available across retailers today. The 30th anniversary stuff I see more of a reason to get in line for.

There was for sure a lot of FOMO on that opening day preorders

Heck even me getting in fairly early in under 15 minutes I still rushed to get it ordered for fear of it selling out

Loool, You keep trying to catch me out with this but you lack the context of my post. I said give me a banger of a system at that price. What I was implying is an absolute banger. Like a CPU upgrade and more for that price. I also want everything to be included. People have an internal perception of what something should cost and be included in the package. You obviously think its worth every penny, and I imagine you have decided its a banger deal for you. Thats cool. You do you.
