Would you say it's worth getting if I never really got into hard/expert with a regular guitar?
Yeah. Easy mode is easy, and it's still a step closer to being real.

its $10. but when I went to the RB3 store it didn't require a code, just my money.

I'm tempted by the squier. Only ever fiddled with a friends guitar while at school, but I can imagine the feel of proper strings over the frets would be quite different from the mustang's buttons. Or does the mustang still feel good?

I'm also thinking it could be good to get my son into playing an instrument. But that might apply to the pro drums too - he likes the drums as much as guitar at the moment. He's 9, so would there be any advantage to the mustang in terms of less pressure required on the frets and therefore a little easier to practice with?

No, but for time last week it was alot cheaper than it should have been for PAL PS3 users.
Instead of the export costing £4.99/€7.99, it was 99p/1.19€.

The few people who bought Rock Band 3 on launch day got it at this price (accidentally).

They must have ditched the website code mess and just made it a direct pay to export option. Should have gone for this at the start.

I have been having a couple of bugs with my game on PS3. Last night I was singing Bohemian Rhapsody and it seemed to hit as slowdown with the words stuttering or something of the sort. It also seems like every time I play keyboard I get a loud noise every couple of songs from my speakers. It only happens when someone plays the keyboard and not when you play anything else. On the Rock Band forums I have saw other people posting about it so hopefully Harmonix works it out but overall I am really enjoying RB3.

I wonder how you can "run out" of redemption tokens. Did the keygen break?

If these are download codes you need to put into the Marketplace or PlayStation Store, they need Microsoft and Sony to make them. So if those haven't generated enough keys, Harmonix/MTV Games needs to wait for them.

Maybe Sony/Microsoft even charge for the keys in advance, I don't know. Would be a good reason to not order too many of them with the risk they don't get used.

OK their response to the LRB issues is laughable. We ran outta tokens that are all linked to unique one time use codes given out in every copy of the game.

They knew exactly how many were out there how could you not have enough?

Can PS3 also get XMB presence data like 360 version. Its memory overhead is tiny and its a great feature for other people on your friends list to see what you are doing in Rock Band 3.

They probably banked on <10% redemption and so fucked up the available codes. Realistically they wouldn't need anywhere near a 1:1 ratio

I am aware, but I thought there were, like, 20 songs from RB2 that didn't make it over that were going to be patched in again or something. Thought they might be the same songs.

The nine Harmonix songs that were on-disc didn't make it over and will be DLC down the line.

Does anyone know if you can use the PS3 keyboard on 360 via USB?

Or is buying a 360 MIDI adapter the only option?

Agreed. It's ridiculous it wasn't included. Don't worry, a lot of people have been asking for that to be added in, but considering that like 90% of the suggestions are widely ignored from Harmonix, I wouldn't hold my breath that it will be added.

Well, at least it's temporary. I honestly wouldn't have been surprised if they had said "sorry, all out, whoops!"

Alex Rigopulous aka the CEO of Harmonix had this to say:

“The UK and Europe is hugely important to us, and honestly it’s been a real disappointment that we haven’t reached the same level of success in Europe yet as we have in the US. It’s something we think and talk about constantly – the ways we can remedy that and realise the potential in Europe. And we’re doing that in a number of ways. In Rock Band 3 we’ve made more of an investment in European content than we have in the past, but more importantly with the Rock Band Network we’re actively reaching out to stimulate a community of content creators all across Europe to get some regional content on the platforms as well.”

Mustang feels fantastic. The buttons are a bit easier to press, as opposed to real strings, but I almost think that's a good thing for someone learning, since most people don't typically have the strength in their hand for complex chords right away.

I highly, highly recommend the Mustang.

So, can anyone answer my question?

Cant the PS3 keyboard be used in the 360 via USB ... or is the MIDI adapter the only way?

Ugh, don't tell me this. I'm tempted to grab one and dump it off once the Squier ships :\

[EDIT]

WUT!?! ... there's a Keytar on Glee right now :lol

"More of an investment than in the past"? What does that entail... an ad in a community newspaper somewhere?

PS. Do more in Australia, fuckstick. You released a track pack by a band from here, remember?

I'm getting one standard guitar (buttons only), a Mustang and a Squier. The Mustang will be kept even after the Squier, I'm sure it'll have it's advantages, as it stands, it can play the normal mode and the Squier can't, and it require no tuning to play, while the Squier needs to be tuned like a real guitar. I wouldn't be surprised if it were a bit easier to start a new song on with as well.

If that happens my plan of buying LRB ahead of time for $10 before it becomes rare will totally backfire, and I'll have a somewhat useless game when the holidays come and I get the rest of the pieces I need. At least it's still sealed, and I could probably get a buck back, maybe.

So I was singing earlier today, and wtf, the OD activation phases are glitched or something. Screamed and made all manners of noises and it didn't activate, it just randomly activated if I slapped the mic really hard or by luck if I made a low growl noise.

Anyone else has encountered this problem? And the mic worked fine on the rest of the song. Hell, I even switched to my other mic to see if it was the mic causing the problem, but no, the OD didn't want to activate as well.

Omfg yes. I fucking hate that song. It lasts forever too. That's probably my least favorite track of the game.

A song that REALLY surprised me that I hadn't heard before was Last Dance (I think it's called like that). I fucking love that song. It's just so catchy and I liked playing it. Took me by complete surprise.

The vocal overdrive issue is for everyone. That's like the number one complaint on the RB forums.

You've gotta be on some sort of narcotics to think Portions for Foxes is the worst. I love most of them but there's some trash-ass songs in this game.

So many hidden gems on this setlist. I must admit, I was pretty bummed out with the setlist, but after playing them I must say this is indeed the best RB setlist ever.

I would say Rehab, Need You Tonight, Been Caught Stealing, Don't Stand So Close to Me are all way worse songs than Portions for Foxes.

Well, I'll agree that all of those are pretty meh songs in my opinion as well, except Been Caught Stealing, that one's catchy.

Hey Charron. You should convince Al Di Meola (or whoever owns the rights) to put his entire discography on RBN and then make sure it ends up on PS3.

You can do it! I believe in you!

;_;

On a more serious note, Friday Night is All Right for Fighting was a lot trickier than I thought it'd be. I couldn't get the rhythm of the areas during the chorus and dipped into red during pretty much every one of them.

R.I.P. Kawigi's site now that there is new OD pathing.

I need a drum path site, I missed one on Smoke on the Water and am still like 8 thousand points behind, what givess

EDIT: In terms of the setlist, least favorite song is "whip it". It's so repetitive, and full proof that Harmonix sucks at tiering their songs.

Indeed, many times do I find myself saying "This is not a tier-2 song, at all"

Looking at you Jerry Was a Racecar Driver on guitar. Easily 3rd or 4th tier.

I played about 15 songs on bass today, and I'd say that maybe one or two were correctly tiered. There are songs that are 5th tier, and a blind man could FC it with the game on mute. The same song might be tier 1 for guitar, but really should be tier 4, if not 5.

Sometimes I wonder if they randomize the tiers; it's that bad.

As I posted earlier in the thread, I've been out of the Rock Band scene since the first. I just sprang for the keyboard bundle and the clerk gave me a manual/code from a traded in copy of RB2 (one can hope it wasn't used yet, right?). So, is Lego RB worth a pickup to export its songs? Obviously I can see the track list, but how fun are they to play/drum? Thoughts?

What's all this of the recommended songs? The ones that appears in green in your DLC playlist.

It's some kind of recommended depending of your current DLC? Or is simply ads for a set of songs, that will change from time to time?

They're essentially in-game advertising for available songs that you don't have. You can turn it off forever in the quickplay sort menu.

I think it depends on both your current DLC and your ratings of the songs you have. They will recommend stuff similar to your favorites. I think mine is kinda broken or something though, it only recommends Stone Temple Pilots songs :lol

Maybe it's a sign...

For me it recommends also those Stone Temple Pilots and Jimmy Eat World... that don't match very well with my Metallica / Iron Maiden / Black Sabbath / Judas Priest songs.

I just saw that those are the latest weekly DLC, so probably is just this, advertising of the last DLC.

Ah yes Jimmy Eat World as well.

Eh, that kind of sucks, they could pull off neat things with the recommending system. Like recommending depending on your favorites. Could be a pretty sweet discovery tool.

I think the rec. system is just going off the latest releases because they've got, like, no data. Hopefully it'll change soon.

One of the first things I did. Kind of annoying.
