Can PS3 also get XMB presence data like 360 version. Its memory overhead is tiny and its a great feature for other people on your friends list to see what you are doing in Rock Band 3.
I'm truly surprised more developers aren't working with Sony to implement this. You could easily see what your friends were doing in RB2 on 360.
Hoping it can come in the form of a patch. Infinity Ward was able to work with them on a patch including it in MW2.

I think I'm going to grab my real guitar and start learning the rock band 3 chords. I want to play along with no-fail on and prep myself for the real deal (i suck at guitar)

I was going to cancel my Mustang order for the Squier as its a good price. But damn you Americans and your strange date system :lol I thought it was the 3rd of January until i clicked the link and realised it was the 1st of March!

I would love it but im not waiting that bloody long! So i will stick to the Mustang for which people think is great anyway, and really i dont need it as i have a better guitar anyway.

Singstar added this feature through a patch as well. I was asking for this on the Rock Band forums since the RB2 patch was announced. And from what someone told me its such an easy thing to do. I hate the fact that they dont have it. As i said there are people everywhere who want it but HMX for some reason still have not one it.

Sure it's coming out in march but when the mustang is no longer supported in a future rockband game at least with the squier you still have a real guitar to jam with

As I posted earlier in the thread, I've been out of the Rock Band scene since the first. I just sprang for the keyboard bundle and the clerk gave me a manual/code from a traded in copy of RB2 (one can hope it wasn't used yet, right?). So, is Lego RB worth a pickup to export its songs? Obviously I can see the track list, but how fun are they to play/drum? Thoughts?

I think it is. There are some neat songs on there.

Most of 'em are easy, though.

Lego Rock Band is trash outside Ghostbusters. It's worth the export fee for Ghostbusters, but not worth the cost of the game and the export fee.

Dunno if it was a PS3 or a RB3 issue but in the middle of Beautiful People on keyboard, the game just quit itself and went straight to the ps3 menu, unsaving all the previously completed songs. ;[

So it looks like the Squier is just a standard electric guitar with a midi sequencer, and you have to use the midi converter with it (so add another $30). That's fine and all, but it wasn't really what I expected. On the plus side, no batteries and console-independent.

Apologies if this was already known, but sometimes stating the obvious is useful.

Honestly, I do kinda think the Mustang is a much more obvious value proposition. I will probably be picking one up this year. Dear lord this Rock Band thing is an expensive hobby.

EDIT: Also, I love More Adventurous, but I was surprised at how unfun Portions for Foxes was to play. The song is much less effective/interesting out of the context of the album. I'd prefer about five songs on the album to PfF.

I'd really like more Rilo Kiley and Metric DLC, though.

Uhh, right.

Well, here's the link to the full setlist.

Personally, I like quite a few songs there. I have to play them all, because there are quite a few songs I have not heard of, but I like

Ghostbusters - Ray Parker Jr.
Girls & Boys - Good Charlotte
I Want You Back - Jackson 5
Let's Dance - David Bowie
Song 2 - Blur
The Final Countdown - Europe
We Are The Champions - Queen
We Will Rock You - Queen

Considering you can get LRB for $15, or $5 with Amazon's $10 videogame credit, it's not a bad deal at all.

Well...glad I'm not the only one. It has happened to me twice, once on Just Like Heaven and the other time while I was playing In the Meantime. Both times I was playing keyboards, I was sorta scared it was my PS3 dying on me, but it doesn't happen in any other instrument or other games.

I am with you until I saw Good Charlotte. Perhaps my irrational hatred of that song came from it being on the music feed at work every fucking day for months.

I suck at the keyboards. When I play normal I keep losing track cause the dots of colour for each key are tiny, plus I'm used to using my left hand for pushing the buttons like on the guitar.

I might just try it on Pro Easy/Medium tonight and start a career.

Agian i have a better guitar than the Squier, and as for the Mustang not being supported, so long as there is Pro guitar it will be there.

Also just a note, no where have i seen it mentioned but Hello Facination by Breathe Carolina RBN has Pro Drums for REAL! What an awesome suprise. I never saw it mentioned in the list of songs enabling pro drums, so i am very happy!!!

Wow, 280 $ for the Squier + 40 $ for the MIDI adapter is fucking insane.

How much does a real Squier cost?
I mean, is the Rock Band Squier overpriced in any way related to a regular Squier?

WTF. All these Lego RB lists and no Summer of '69?

Best easy song in Rock Band history. Fun on everything.

I think there are different levels of the Squier, so it really depends on which base they used...

Fire completely negates your opinion.

Also, for the singers, I'm sure We Are the Champions is a must have. I'd say about 50% or so of the Lego set is good to great then amongst the others there are some songs that aren't good, but are still fun on at least one instrument. Two Princes, for example, is a pretty bad song, but is a lot of fun on drums.

Fortunately, with RB3s rating system you don't have to play the ones you don't like.

My personal favorites from Lego are "Fire," "Let's Dance," "Dreaming of You," "Summer of '69," "Tick, Tick, Boom" and "Crocodile Rock."

LEGO set list is great. IMO one of the best on disc setlists, much better than RB3's which i find slightly dissapointing. I mean besides what people have mentioned you have Sum 41, Lost Prophets and Boys Like Girls!

WTF. Why is The Look devil horns bass?

Should just be a checkbox before you start the song. Can you alt-strum? Yes -> 5 stars, No -> fail.

Can anyone tell me why there's only one Bloc Party song in either of the GH/RB games *at all*? I honestly think that they'd be perfectly suited to these games (especially the drum lines and now, keyboards) but the only song I can find of theirs is Helicopter in GH3. Very sad.

There is a million bands that should be in this but are still yet to have a single song. I mean really where the fuck is New Found Glory? Simple fun songs that are catchy and a lot of people and kids that play this game know!

Any idea about what's the usual range in stores?

I don't want to check online because it's always more difficult to compare.

Harmonix said the Squier was being based a on $250 body. So basically $30 on top of that for the added buttons and built in tech on the neck.

Of course those prices are all MSRP, so it could very well be cheaper at certain retailers on release, depending on what exactly its availability is. For example, I think that 250 MSRP body is going for about 230 on the major shopping sites, at least as near as I can tell.

Anybody know how to get a new transfer code for Lego Rock Band? I used my code once moving it to RB2.
The content's already exported to your HDD, shouldn't it be showing up in RB3 already? I can't check because I'm having a horrible experience with an online retailer getting my order. >=(

Yes. Once you have a disc export it stays on your hard drive unless you manually delete it. That goes for all exports (RB1, Lego, AC/DC, Green Day, Track Packs, etc.)

FFS, when can I link my account and get rid of this piss annoying 4 gamerscore?
"Linking is coming very soon!"

What are some good songs to practice pro keys? I'm having some trouble because I can't find a rhythm with the lower tier songs where you only play keys in short bursts. But some of the other songs are too complex/chord-y for someone starting out. I keep going back to guitar or drums since I get bored waiting for the keys parts to come up. :lol So in the end I never get better at keys. :/

Werwolves Of London i think its called. Its the same keys throught the entire song from start until finish. Very easy.

And in the case of Lego, Green Day, AC/DC (well, every game but RB1), even if you delete them, you can just go to your download history and download the pack again.

Sorry for not going through this massive thread.

What is the thing that link notes together?

I was playing drum on one song then there is this circular shape wrap around several notes.
What is it and what's it for?

That's a drum roll. It's supposed to make it easier to keep your multiplier because you don't have to hit every note exactly. I'm not really sure what determines if you fail or pass the roll though. I usually try to hit the start and end notes perfectly, and try to keep the correct roll speed throughout the middle, erring on the side of being too fast. Hard to get used to them since they're not that common in songs and they don't have a training mode for regular instruments anymore. :/

It's basically a looser timing window for things that are more spastic when performed. I believe the deal is you can over hit, as long as you hit all the notes in the section, and not lose combo.

Break On Through is very manageable on pro keys, but requires you to learn some sections. It's a great song to try to master. Other good ones are things like In The Meantime (not many chords), Something Bigger Something Brighter, Imagine and the Smiths/Cure songs (though they do sugar from long sections of nothing).

Its my favourite on disc setlist so far. So many great party songs that everyone will know. Monster - The Automatic, Summer of 69, Song 2, Final Countdown, Queen, Ghostbusters, Ruby, Grace, etc..

My favourite song from Rock Band 3 so far is The Power of Love, makes me smile every time I play it.
Favourite song I had never heard before is The Killing Moon - Echo & The Bunnymen.
Least favourite song so far, Beast and the Harlot- Avenged Sevenfold.

I saw my first Rock Band 3 TV ad the other day, too late though, should have been out before the game launched.

How much control does Harmonix have over the marketing though? Wouldn't the blame fall more on EA/MTV? It's too bad things didn't change for the RB3 launch outside of the US. I'm not going to be surprised if we don't get RB4 at this rate.
