People who would delete The Who should be shot
:lol
I won't be deleting the pack, I enjoy most of those songs and the live ones are among my favorites to play ever. WGFA is the song that gets the most groans when my friends and I play the setlists (that and Welcome Home). They're both trying to be epic but in the end just bore us. I used to love Black Hole Sun, but having to play it over and over made me sick of it. Oh well, it's only 3 songs out of tons I really enjoy (I've purchased damn near every song to date).

more positive change of topics:
OMFG TWO MORE WEEKS!!

Anyone know what songs I shouldn't buy for DLC that are going to be included in RB2? I'm about to buy a large amount of songs in prep for a party when rb2 comes out.

Theres no song on DLC that will be on RB2 Disk.

I had the same problem. My mistake is that I was lifting my leg up until the bass note came, pressed down, and then lifted my leg again. So basically you're trying to keep one foot in the air for 5 minutes per song, which is going to hurt after a while. The correct method is to keep the petal down, and then lift and press down when the bass note comes.

THANK YOU! That advice made a big difference.

Do drums grade differently then guitar? I just got 4 stars on medium for Gimmie Shelter and I hit 98% of the notes. The highest percentage I ever got on guitar without getting 5 stars was 95% for One on medium in Guitar Hero 3. I've hit 95%+ of the notes for multiple songs on drums and haven't gotten 5 stars.

the stars is dependent on pts.. so the percentage does not matter as much

For drums, streaks are more important. Since, playing real drums, that's what matters- keeping the beat. If you're hitting 99% but constantly breaking combo you might not hit 5*. Likewise you can keep combo but miss big chunks, only nail 90%, and still score 5*.

Streaks are as important for either instrument, though drums don't have solos to save you. With guitar, you can have just a decent run through a song, but get 95+% on a long solo and get 5 stars without much difficulty. The biggest issue, though, is that it's much harder to keep streaks on drums, as there are usually only a handful of rhythm patterns, so you either get the pattern down perfectly or nearly so or you constantly mess up throughout the song. You could get 98%, but if the multiplier is constantly resetting and/or you rarely hit Energy Patterns, you could end up with 4 stars.

So the PAX build of Rock Band 2 (which was probably the retail build) had Shackler's Revenge on it. However, Harmonix wasn't allowed to let anyone play it :P

I sadly didn't get to play RB2 at PAX. The line was always wrapping around the booth, and the wait was easily over an hour. Harmonix was cool enough to set up all the Rock Band 1 stations with Rock Band 2 instruments, so at least I got to try those out. I'm definitely sold on both the new guitar and drum set.

the biggest thing that is keeping me from getting a RB2 bundle is that I paid the $25 or whatever for that ByteArts fix for the strummer. It works great, but I didn't want the extra guitar. All these glowing reviews for the new guitar though are making me want to trade mine in towards the bundle.

The fact that tilt is completely and utterly borked is also a factor. Unless someone knows of a fix for that, I'm going in to EB tomorrow and trading it in.

Do you have impressions on the buttons and how they feel? Also did you notice if they changed how the headset goes into the guitar? It always annoyed me that you have to attach 2 things to your headphone before it can be plugged in. Never understood why they didn't just have the bigger jack like GH ones.

What happened if you just clicked it?

The fret buttons are still clicky, but less sticky. I liked the fret buttons on the RB1 guitar, and these feel pretty much the same.

I didn't pay attention to the headset jack, but that would have been a great thing to look out for. That annoyed me too.

It probably would have loaded, but Sean Baptiste (HMXSean) was there regulating.

Onemic, I am back in the Fortunate Son arms race. Only about a thousand behind you, one day I'm gonna nail that fucking shit.

Also the new arms race takes place on My Iron Lung.

Fucking bring it.

As well as helping kids in hospital, Rock Band is now curing AIDS. I think. I don't read these press releases.

Rock Band 2 – the next incarnation of the cultural and video game phenomenon Rock Band – is teaming up with LIFEbeat to shed some star power over the continued need for HIV/AIDS prevention in the week prior to the game’s launch.

On Saturday, September 6th at House of Blues in Los Angeles, Rock Band will enlist the help of Rock Band Live Tour artists Panic At The Disco and Plain White T’s for special short performances to bring awareness to LIFEbeat’s cause and celebrate the forthcoming launch of Rock Band 2. The “Rock Band 2 Party to Benefit LIFEbeat” during MTV’s Video Music Awards weekend marks a unique occasion where stars, the music industry and true fans alike can all take in a hot show and fight for a cause with proceeds from the show benefiting LIFEbeat - The Music Industry Fights AIDS.

Attendees will rock out with a sneak peek and chance to play Rock Band 2 before it hits retail, as well as enjoy musical appearances by Panic At The Disco and Plain White T’s. Tickets for the Rock Band 2 Party to Benefit LIFEbeat, an all ages event, are $50.00 for General Admission, with proceeds going to LIFEbeat. Tickets can be purchased at House of Blues Box Office and online at www.ticketmaster.com.

The VMA/LIFEbeat Concert has become a major staple in the 24-hour lead-up to the annual Video Music Award and allowed MTV to plant a major stake in the cultural ground by staging an exclusive concert featuring an on-the-verge artist or a major act (prior LIFEbeat acts include The Beastie Boys, The Bravery, Robin Thicke and Maroon 5).

“MTV is proud to be teamed up with LIFEbeat again on this year’s VMA weekend as we support their long-standing commitment to HIV/AIDS education and prevention,” said Tim Rosta, SVP of Integrated Marketing at MTV. “We have always seen the LIFEbeat benefit as one of the cornerstones of the weekend, and this year’s event is no exception.”

Paul DeGooyer, Senior Vice President of Electronic Games and Music for MTV Networks Music & Logo Group, added, ”By bringing Rock Band and LIFEbeat together, we hope to unleash the power of one of the biggest video game launches this year to benefit a fantastic and worthy cause.”

“HIV/AIDS remains a major epidemic in America with over 56,000 new cases diagnosed each year, and half of those infections occurring in Americans under 25, making it more important than ever to reach young audiences,” said John Cannelli, Executive Director, LIFEbeat. “This annual event offers a great opportunity to further our goals and mission.”

Energizer, the official battery of Rock Band 2, and Stride® Gum are also lending their support as sponsors of the event.

Rock Band 2 hits retail in September and features the largest music catalogue of any music-based videogame to date including over 100 songs on the Rock Band 2 soundtrack with an unrivaled blend of classic and new artists including AC/DC, Guns ‘N Roses, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Motorhead and more!

The “2008 MTV Video Music Awards” will air live from the Paramount Lot on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 9PM (Live ET/Tape Delayed PT.) Presenters and additional performers will be announced at a later date. The event will be hosted by Russell Brand, and includes performances by Lil Wayne, Jonas Brothers, Kid Rock, Paramore, Pink, T.I. and Rihanna. For more information, please go to vma.mtv.com.

The official sponsors of the “2008 MTV Video Music Awards” are GM, Pepsi, TAG Body Spray, Taco Bell, Rhapsody, Nikon and Verizon Wireless.

:lol

Queen are in Rock Revolution of all games. Maybe its a masters issue or something, cos I can't imagine them not being high on any music game makers list.

I'm just offended that they're getting a whole Singstar game, yet we've seen no tracks here. Sure, Singstar needs just the final track, but the fact is... well, it's Queen.

So, uhm, Made in Heaven album DLC to go with that plz, and then Queen song packs each week.

I think part of the Queen problem is that most of their big hits could be considered "guitar lite", which is an issue when two of your instruments are guitar based.

Although Singstar Queen? Day fucking one.

Apart from the fact if we've got instrumentals we shouldn't worry about some songs having little on guitar, one of The Who songs has barely any drums until like, a section in the middle, and it's Queen which overrides everyone, that means we need a mix of their big hits and their songs better on guitar.

I don't think his point has any merit anyway, on Last.fm the two The Who songs chosen for RB1 & 2 are placed 6th and 8th for that band in the last 6 months, and Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Queen's highest played 'appropriate' song for the game is ranked 7th overall. Also, those two Who songs have 34,000 and 33,000 plays each, while Crazy Little Thing Called Love has 62,000.

Dude, what?

As DLC, Queen would be fine. On the disc, issues regarding instrument suitability must be raised at a town meeting.

To check, are we getting 3 songs this week? The big announcement is less songs than usual?

I'VE DONE THE MATH IT SAYS QUEEN SHOULD BE IN THE GAME.

Dude, okay man, no need to shout. I want Bohemian Rhapsody, ok? OK?!

Pretty much. Maybe Rush will hit too? :/

My 360 is back tomorrow, can't wait to celebrate by not buying any DLC. The moment in time when I would have bought last weeks replacement pack has passed.

:lol Really, what I was trying to say was a response to Dave's comment that Queen were lacking instrument wise, at least in terms of their big hits.

This really isn't true. Crazy Little Thing Called Love is both extremely appropriate for the game and a bigger hit than both Won't Get Fooled Again and Pinball Wizard in terms of how many people listen to it on Last.fm, and those The Who tracks were included on disc by Harmonix. Does that make sense?

I didn't say that. Did I? I believe it, but I don't remember saying it.

It depends on the song. Something like Another One Bites The Dust I don't think would be fun for everybody (outside "hey we're playing Queen!", which certainly isn't without it's appeal), but they do have a lot of songs I think would be fun for all. I'd play Innuendo.

Well, you could say that about pretty much any band, couldn't you?

And sorry I meant McBradders, not you.

My friend has a Flash Gordon t-shirt.

So, in Maths, we sing it as a barbershop quartet. (Well, the intro)

Which is ironic as all 4 of us should really go to a barbershop.
