Rock Band Platform |OT|

I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but Blockbuster is offering $32 for the original Rockband, a much better deal then EB/GS
 
Fucking SCORE.
I got the only copy at Blockbuster.
A female employee tried to cock block me, though. She was trying to tell the guy helping me that games only come out on Fridays. (uh... I think you mean Tuesdays?) The guy called the district manager to shut her up. Thanks, guy. Above and beyond.
 
No instrument specific RB2 disc only leaderboards? Sad.. this game is a fail. I don't want to buy DLC to have a comparable score. I also don't want to have to play every instrument or play in a band to get comparable scores either. I just want to play drums and see how I rank in RB2 against other RB2 drummers. It's not that hard. This is the biggest letdown Harmonix has ever given me.

Though I will still enjoy it. =(

As far as I can tell, you can still do that. Leaderboards > solo drums > career score (only includes on disc songs)
 
I'm watching my DVR'd episode of Gametrailers TV for Rock Band 2 from tonight and they flew in the top 3 Rock Band 1 bands to perform in a contest. One of the challenges the bands did was playing "Down With the Sickness" from memory. So there were no visible notes or overdrives or anything. It was pretty cool but I have no idea how any of them even got to 50% since they were whole bands. I hope they keep challenges fresh by doing ones like that, it seems cool.

Also I have like zero Rock Band buds so if anybody is looking for someone to add go ahead and add me:

anyone having rock band server trouble....i keep trying to do the battle of the bands but it's saying i'm not connected....yet I can check leaderboards.
 
This bassist for the band from Dallas plays with his fingers on top of the frets instead of going from under it. It looks weird but apparently he's rockin' it.
 
1 month to go for me, I'll be kept busy.

By the way, No Fail mode is great and they DEFINITELY brightened up the venues. Much easier to see them now.

The music video start is great, too. Not old.... YET.
 
Game is awesome of course, but I do have to complain about one thing...

Fuck the lag calibration. It was perfect in Rock Band 1, why did they have to go and change it? When Rock Band 1 came out, I told it I had a DLP and was good to go right away. With Rock Band 2, I did the calibration three times but it never felt right. So I loaded up Rock Band 1, looked at what the video lag was set to, and manually set Rock Band 2 to that. All is well now, but damn that was frustrating.

Otherwise, game rocks as expected! :D
 
Been drumming for 5 hours, my arms are killing me. But the Ion kit has kept up beautifully.

Hard to make certain adustments to the position of the pads and cymbals (heck, some are impossible) but wound up pretty damn happy. I might not even pick up the third cymbal, as the blue pad is perfect handling double duty. In fact, if I had another cymbal, I'd have liked to make it a second green cymbal. I will be curious to see how other people set up their Ion kits, though. As soon as I can, I'll post of pic of how I have mine.

I just check and t's not up on gametrailer.com yet. They have new gameplay footage but not of the show. It was okay, watching small clips of 3 bands playing Rock Band is kind of weird but seeing the new BOTB features was pretty cool. The real band (Judas Priest, Cheap Trick, and lesser extent Disturbed) interviews and watching them rock out with fake instruments was fun

also, this game is fucking amazing, and surpasses braid to so far the best game of the year. the new quickplay and revamped solo tour are both excellent.

OK, just so I know; all I do in Rock Band 1 is play through the list of songs over and over, trying to get a run of gold stars on the song select screen. When I go to Quickplay, can I pick "guitar" and see when picking songs which I have gold on and which I don't, dependent on my instrument?

If they don't fix it, I literally won't buy the game. For real. I guess this makes the Euro release less of an issue. I just hope there is some confusion in all this and it'll work out in the end, somehow...
 
I'm loving the game, but there a few things I've run across so far that are so fucked up that I'm not sure if they're (bad...very, very bad) design decisions or bugs.
1. Singers that are the wrong gender, constantly. (fat, nerdy chick singing Interstate Love Song FTL)
2. Crowd vocals on empty music video sets.

I sent you a friends request, it'll be nice to actually have people to compare scores with. Throughout Rock Band 1 I had like 2-3 people on my list with scores D:

Even though I already have a copy in transit I feel the same way Dave. If I'd heard about this earlier I certainly wouldn't be paying the exorbiant amount I have paid for 3 day shipping. I can't believe they have removed the mechanism which gave all previous Guitar Hero games and Rock Band the most replayability. If it isn't patched into the game I'll end up losing interest in the single player game very quickly once I've unlocked the setlist.

We are brothers. Its not just nitpicking. But I'll wait till its out and missing the features, they have ages to fix it before its out here.
 
Im probably LTTP but anybody experience cross-talking with there RB2 set? I had mines waiting for me when I got back and it was cross-talking like a mutha. I put the official RB silencers on the set and now it's perfect and never cross-talks anymore even if I hit a pad REALLY hard.

Yeah I'm not willing to write it off until I get to spend a bit of time with it. I know they tried to focus the single player career around these challenges, but they shouldn't have messed with Quickplay. It should always show your highest score and rating on the instrument you are playing on. You'd think Harmonix would have noticed the importance of scoring. It's not like theres a whole site dedicated to high scores on fake plastic guitars or anything...
 
Does anyone know if the new strat still has the mic built in? I really want to sing and play at the same time. My plan is to get RB2 game only, new strat and the GHWT band kit.

Harmonix always have to fuck one thing up I guess. Rock Band 2 was a little too perfect sounding.
