On a more serious note, college is really meme-y.
"rip in peace" and "pc master race" aren't rare things to hear passing by, it's actually quite annoying. Especially the PC master race line. Never say that in person please. "Oh, you play PS4? I'm more of a PC master race guy myself".

His specs were shit but I didn't want to tell him that because who wants to continue that conversation. edit: also had a few people brag their 970s as if they're running a titan x, I don't really get that. I try not to even mention video games a lot in person with new people :/

Pressing jump and boost simultaneously makes you jump faster and higher without the need to use your 2nd jump immediately. When you see someone launch incredibly quick, that's what they're doing.

So how the heck does the ranking system work?
The way to gives out / takes away points after a match seems random. Sometimes its 8. Sometimes 4. Sometimes something in between those. I dunno. Score doesnt seem to effect it.

It's changing, but the concepts are still the same - you gain or lose points relative to the difficulty of the game. Score is irrelevant. If you play people better than you, you get more points than if you play people worse than you.
There's unfortunately some additional complexities in the Season 1 system that are going away soon with the next patch.

Love those new maps. Utopia was actually one of my least favorite maps in battlecars, so the other two maps are looking way more interesting to me. We're one step closer to getting a new Cosmic!
It definitely looks like they're being careful and testing new shapes before committing to making maps. That would suck to put the time and effort into a new map like they did for Wasteland only to have no one playing it because they didn't like the shape. This allows them to keep it relatively basic and see what people love/hate.

New maps look really sweet.
Nah, ranked is best with as few variables as possible. But for shits and giggle, this is the one.
Depending on how it plays, the double goals might make 4v4 competitive interesting though.

No more chaotic 4v4s. A good team would split into both halves of the map I'd presume.
Donut map looks like it would be pretty fun with how defense-heavy it can be.
Anyways, these are all natural variations. It seems like a clever way to test things with fans without dedicating resources and time to a map that may not be liked at all.
I feel like there must be some design variation that would feel competitive enough to feel accepted by the competitive community. Maybe one of these three will be it.
A couple times I've seen this happen on my surface pro 2. Screen goes black. One time I waited and the image eventually returned. Was at the main menu.
Mine has went into a few different colors. All orange, all green, all black, etc. it's only ever happened in a party. This game doesn't want me to rank up. I think that's it.
The issues spans across a few different driver updates, maybe it's Windows 10 related. Who knows.

Can't wait to try out the new maps. Cool seeing the single full boost in the circular map. Reminds me to suggest having a mutator where all the full boosts are regular boost pads. Would put a premium on boost and change strategy.

Over on Reddit one of the devs hinted there might be performance improvements for the map which would fix *some* of the issues I have with it, but it's still a huge bummer IMO.

So i started playing again, went on a winning streak and got to bronze II, was feeling good, then i discovered a glaring problem with ranked. 3 people left the match on me randomly, and i had to play a 2vs1 and as a result lost 3 games in a row and am now back to bronze I. Whats terrible about this is that i lost the same amount of points i regularly would, but in a situation where it was extremely unfair.
I lost over 20 points that i did not deserve to lose, and honestly should not have lost. Absolutely terrible game design. Hopefully this is changed in the update.

In the slightest. It's not really a game design flaw, and to say "should not have lost" in a game you might have lost anyways isn't really helping that.
Everyones rushing to get points, point system does suck, and is being removed, but no, teammates quitting isn't bad game design, it's bad luck. Terrible teammates is the same result.
