Man, people are freaking about the 3rd act:

I don't want to be this guy. But best last 30 minutes of a @starwars movie. Ever. You will agree. Trust me.

With all the talk of reshoots and production problems the final cut of Rogue One is worth the wait. Man that 3rd act....so so good.

One thing that annoys me about these impressions is the "fans are gonna LOVE it" angle.

It's an opinion that doesn't at all indicate actual quality, just "wooooo Star Warsy things".

edit: At least the THR guy indicates it's a solid action movie above all else, though.

As much as I like to shit on the bad parts of Return of the Jedi I would be absolutely amazed at any Star Wars movie with a more epic 3rd act.
All three OT films have amazing finales. I can't expect it to top ESB's final revelation or the Battle of Yavin, but these impressions are already fucking me up.

Again, this is why I'm pretty eh about instant twitter reactions.

Look what happened to BvS

So... #RogueOne? It's freaking great! So many crowd-pleasing moments! It's emotional, exciting and incredibly satisfying. Loved it!

At least we know it's a good action movie it seems. But yeah, I'm wondering if this is just initial twitter reactions like we've seen before.
I think we can at least set the floor at "not garbage"

I wonder what initial impressions were like for Godzilla. That's the real barometer for me. This has to be Gareth's best movie.

Another thing I'm curious about is the likelihood of a positive review bump due to R1 doing the unthinkable for a franchise film and (probably) killing off most of its main cast.

It's the kind of breath of fresh air that I imagine may help lessen the impact of the film's flaws, whatever they might be.

Yeah, whenever these twitter reviews mention stuff about "fans are going to love it," I instantly tune out.

That just means the fan servicey quota has been met, not whether it's mechanically sound.

Very interesting...

As with The Force Awakens, a fair number of shots from the #RogueOne trailers aren't in the movie. But the trailers did capture the tone.

I expected it to be funny. I didn't expect to be choked up. Moments of true bravery, and some speeches we need right now. #RogueOne
