NADAL DEFEATED AT FRENCH OPEN.....sorta.

PARIS (AFP) - World number one Rafael Nadal, seeking a record fifth successive Roland Garros title, was beaten in a one-set exhibition match here on Saturday by a little-known Argentinian ranked 109th in the world.

Nadal, who has never lost an official match at the French Open, went down 7-5 to Brian Dabul on the eve of the tournament in front of stands that were packed despite light drizzle in the French capital.

The 22-year-old Spaniard, who has six Grand Slam singles titles to his name and enjoys the enviable Roland Garros record of 28 wins from 28 matches, faces qualifier Marcos Daniel of Brazil in the first round.

Keothavong getting a rather thorough beating from world number one Safina at the moment. Final scoreline could be ugly.

man i just want to see sharapova but i have to wait for Wawrinka game to finish. if i sleep im going to miss it =( is this only on the tennis channel on tv? discovered that i have it but its the only channel i can find

Sharapova and Wozniacki pay later. Didn't realise Sharapova was unseeded!

looks like shes next according to the schedule. Wawrinka game is in the 4th set, so hopefully its over. tennis channel keeps changing games though which is annoying. just changed from Nadal to Williams...booo

Nadal isn't playing his best, but I'm wary of saying it because I know he'll just answer me with a 6-0 6-0 6-0 win next.

he's ugly as fuck.
Woah, hang on, why does this matter? Good lord man.

I thought Murray was going to get killed as soon as he stepped onto the clay court here to be honest, going up against a guy who's good on clay. Was pretty amazed at the domination.

ESPN is showing zero tennis today, and plans on showing Monday's matches tomorrow while live matches are in progress.

WTF?

He has both an ugly personality and an ugly face. This makes watching him play unpleasant, despite his talent. Don't try to take a small excerpt of my post and assume it stands on it's own. It's quite a dick move... But perhaps I should expect that from someone who (if memory serves) is a fan of Murray...

It's one thing to admit Murray's weakness on clay, but expecting him to get killed? What?

PS: Awesome dropshot to win the match for Federer. I think his head/memories will prevent a win over Nadal, but who knows. He looks like he's playing well, and Nadal does not.

Sharapova d. Yakamova 3-6 6-1 6-2

Say whatever the fark you want about Sharapova, but she doesn't choke or wilt away in rough matches. She's obviously rusty after the break (her serve, for one, is gone), but damnit if she doesn't still have the ability to brush off a mess of a first set and steer the match home.

For you yes, but then you need to abstract the person from the entertainment. It's quite clear that there are plenty of absolute dicks in professional sport, but if you're there to enjoy the show, just enjoy it.

Plus out of all the sports, I feel the Murray's attitude is really quite admirable. None of this mollycoddled media served bullshit, he's passionate about what he does, he gets pissed off when he messes up, and when he's dominating an opponent, he'll be a dick to them.

Every time i feel Nadal is interviewed, you can tell he's not saying what he thinks, and it's not because his English isn't very good, i've seen him chatting to fans and security at Wimbledon and his English is just fine.

:lol

Last year at RG, Sharapova choked away a 4th round match in which she was up 7 - 6 (8), 5 - 2, with a match point.

Is there any sight more sad/pathetic than a tennis court covered up for rain with raindrops drumming up a beat on its plastic exterior?

Only if they covered it up just after Nadal beat Federer in another French open final and Federer was on top of the mat crying in the rain as the sun sets.

Yes, he's a twat, but it's good to have one around, otherwise everyone would be identical and therefore boring (personality-wise).

wth Kirilenko lost? I expected it of Vaidisova but Maria?

At least Caroline Wozniacki made it through.

Damn James Blake sucks

funny, I was thinking the same thing. As an American, I'll always pull for him other than my main man Federer, but he's making it really hard for me lol.

God dammit, Blake! Shit!

He doesn't change his game one bit for clay. Not. One. Bit.
I guess he's afraid if he does then he will break his neck again. But he is turning 30 this year, it's time for retirement anyway.

Diatchenko is cute as a button. And I just love her scream. It's a quick squeal that sounds like a bird.

i came in here to post exactly this. ive never heard or seen her before. pleasantly surprised. maybe its because i see her face right after safina? such a cute laugh. is this the girl thats known for using backhands on both sides?

edit: could her skirt be any shorter? :lol awesome, and the camera man keeps focusing on her nipples too

Shame she's getting her ass whooped then.

Safina has yet to be tested of course, but I think she's the safe bet to go all the way.

She got knocked out after the tie-break yesterday. God knows, it was a sad day on earth.

I think the italian girl Penetta also has a double backhand.

Jebus Crike, Azarenka, down 1-5 against a no-name? 4-5 now, just break her a last time and avoid total humiliation. Not sure what's wrong with her, though, didn't see this coming.

I'm very curious about seeing Ivanovic today, she did play some great tennis in her first match, today's will answer if she actually is a force. Safina certainly looks to bulldoze her way to victory.
