Well first of all, Satisfaction at number 2? Rolling Stone is not trying to be obvious they think their own band 'Rolling Stones' created the second greatest song of all time? Stairway to Heaven at only 31? What the Shit. No Pink Floyd songs until the 300's???? Several Beach Boy's songs in top 100? Whoever made this list is retarded.

Even if it is just kinda tossed together, it's still odd to see Nirvana in the top 10 but no Metallica until #399...

BAAAALLLINNN'
Eminem on there with Lose Yourself!? Lord.

I think Jackson 5's I Want You Back should be closer to the top.

Edit: Hey Ya! is on it!? At #180!? Fuck this list.

Beach Boys rock, you must have them confused w/ someone else b/c they are true musical geniuses. God Only Knows, Wouldn't It Be Nice, I Know There's An Answer, all amazing songs.

I won't even bother to look at this list. I was discouraged as soon as someone mentioned that Pink Floyd didn't appear until the 300s. Wish You Were Here is easily one of the top 100 songs of all-time, if not top 10.

Yeah, God Only Knows is terrific.

Though I think Wonder Years nostalgia plays a part in that, as it so often does. :)

Wish You Were Here = Pink Floyd's best album. And Comfortably Numb should've been in the Top 20 at least.

And fuck, they have Eminem on there. Twice!! They also have Dre (who is a great producer and beat maker and even guest rapper at times, but his "solo" albums aren't great), and the Run DMC song on there is "Walk This Way". Funny.

Who cares? Trying to 'rank' songs is an exercise in idiocy.

Do you even know who the Beach Boys are?
It is absolutely necessary Don't Worry Baby, Good Vibrations, Help Me Rhonda, I Get Around, Wouldn't it be Nice, God Only Knows make the Top 100.

Yeah, the list is a bit silly here and there, but who takes Rolling Stone seriously these days?

Pet Sounds is genius.
This is the truest thing that has been said in this thread so far.

But yeah, seriously, this list is laughably bad. Spike TV's Video Game Awards are better than this. :)

What did you expect from a list made from a whole bunch of middle aged white people that are trying to convince themselves they have not sold out and know whats cool?

I was looking at this magazine during my break at work today and thought, "I wonder if/when there will be a thread on GAF whining about this."

Thanks for not letting me down, guys.

Yeah, this list blows. But since there's no Mozart and no Verdi in the list who could take in seriously anyway?

The nail in the Rolling Stone Magazine coffin was the issue where Britney, Christina, Pink etc. were billed as being the new faces of Rock'n Roll.

And just out of curiosity...
Rolling Stone is not trying to be obvious they think their own band 'Rolling Stones' created the second greatest song of all time?
What's this about, then?

Citing "Like a Rolling Stone" I think was an effort to look cute. Mission failed.

And is They Might Giant's "Birdhouse in Your Soul" on the list? If not, that's a fucking crime.

You can't expect anything like that. However, this list still sucks even by mainstream standards.

Only problem is, those aren't songs. And these are the "500 greatest rock and roll songs of all time".

10 of the top 100 songs were Beatles songs. I'd say they covered The Fab Four pretty well.

Damn right. There's only one more song from the 90s than there are Beatle's songs.
