So I did a Google news search for "Romney" and see headlines like:

"Romney in damage control after one day in London"
"In London, Romney faces an Olympic marathon of errors‎"
"Mitt Romney in London: ‘Kind of like Mr. Bean, only American'"

Get to the Fox News one...

A defining moment of fail.

Yeah, the Bean headline was excellent.

I'll hold off on deciding who to vote for until I hear Obama's position on Dubstep.

Has this been posted yet? Only read a few pages:

Romney wrote, in his book, No Apology:

“England is just a small island. Its roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesn’t make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy. And if it hadn’t been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler’s ambitions.”

Probably 99% of the UK had never even heard of this guy up until yesterday. No better way to announce your arrival by dissing the olympics, his PR did a good job.

I just read the intro to No Apology, Romney's book.

He brags about his Dad, and just keeps repeating the fact that he had to do chores as a kid.

Pretty boring stuff so far.

As a European now living in Australia, all I can say is all I know about Utah is gave name to the hit 90s dance music act Utah Saints, is where world speed records are set, and is home to a famous religious sex cult.

It apparently held the fucking Olympics too. No idea how I missed that one.

That quote, while it cuts, is pretty much bang on. I hope Romney continually reminds the British they were defeated in the War of Independence and the US saved their ass in WW2, just for the lulz.
Why? Do you want us to think of your politicians as fuckwits?

I love how someone on the first page of this thread made the "powers that be" joke that Romney is clearly being conspired against. Yep, I'd say so. The conspiracy of his mouth, mind and hands.

Serious dismay in Whitehall at Romney debut. 'Worse than Sarah Palin.' 'Total car crash'. Two of the kinder verdicts #romneyshambles

Um, come on dude. I think this post sums it up nicely:
Shared heritage?

I'll list the countries' shared heritage -

1776 - kicked their asses.
1812 - nothing happened.
1917 - saved their asses from the Germans.
1942 - saved their asses from the Germans, again.
1950 -

And will he thank France for helping out or we tend to forget that nugget.

Well, not all of them, but if you wanted to pick a few specific ones I don't think that would hurt much. I have some suggestions!

The French's failure to protect the Rhine, and archaic defensive strategies sure helped out a ton.

Man, I really thought this Euro/American dickwaving stuff only happened in the racism threads, but apparently it's spreading like a fungus.

To be fair, I read an article with a guy who had his apartment building where he lived confiscated and they put anti-ballistic missiles on top. That made me say WTF

But the planning that London has gone through looks largely a success.

You were reading bullshit.

To be fair, London seems to keep stumbling in getting the city and events ready for the Olympics. Romney should never have said that, though.

We have having the same minor issues that everybody else has has putting these types of massive events together and we've have to utilise some of our plan B's to make sure all goes smoothly that's it. The problem is our retard papers printing massive headlines like "WTF UK has to use the odd backup PLAN WE LOOK STOOPIDZ EVERYONE INCOMPETENT 1111LOLZ111LOL"

Because, of course, this is how prospective presidents should act towards allies.

That would be monstrously stupid.

Wow, this Romney guy seems terrible. Obama seems like such an intelligent and eloquent guy compared to him; for the sake of the US and global relations moving forward I really hope he does not become the next President...

He won't, at least there seems to be little chance of it. He reminds me of Kerry, put in to lose when the party knows they won't unseat the incumbent. The Republicans will be grooming someone for 2016, as will the Dems.

I thought his response was refreshing and honest. He will eventually learn how to talk the typically diplomatic bullshit politicans are known for.
