Alright, where's Plainview? Even if there were trailers, and he sat through the credits, he should have checked in by now.
He better not wait to drive home first god damnit!!!

Maybe he's doing what I imagined I would do in that situation. Carefully giving an impression-free impression of the day itself, only each capitilzed letter being part of a proper review.

says they took all the phones on his twitter so we'll get impressions at 6 or just before

Cameron played down hopes for another Best Picture Oscar, saying: "I think they should give serious attention to the technical work, the visual effects and photography, sound, music.. it's a beautiful score. As for the other stuff, the Academy tends to be not that interested in science fiction films, fantasy films but we'll see. It's a possibility."

the only slight spark against my indifference are 2-3 of the non-pandora clips newly released. sigourney weaver is always good and worthington is appealing un-gawkish at his surroundings, he just wants to jump in. And this quiddich guy managed to make his slow steps on the floor speak fiercely against his terribly awkward lines.

though no parade of film-geek twittering is going to change my dramatic disengagment with anything pandora.

so.. yeah fucking guy ritchie it is :/

Why can't you just see both I swear Sherlock Holmes isn't out until boxing day?

Better in Imax or Real3d or Digital or...?
I went IMAX for the better sound system and the bigger screen, but I've found RealD 3D to have the better 3D effect.

Yeah I find it extremely weird how many people are so poor that they can only afford one movie per fortnight.

Seriously people acting like a matinee ticket on a Saturday afternoon is akin to choosing between consoles at launch.

Positive responses break embargo without reprisal, negative responses wisely wait until embargo lifts. Film at 11.

FIVE HOURS since Plainview last tweeted. Dude is driving home and we're not going to hear jack until 9-10 PM Eastern....

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Thanks, well I've heard about the "revolutionary 3d" so is it designed for a particular 3d system, or does the new technique apply to both...or am I just completely off?

Positive responses are getting Avatar haters to cry bitter tears and make up excuses. So sad.

I remember after the positive reactions after Comic Con, people trivialized those as merely excitement from fanboy nerds. Why do you goons want the movie to fail? For Internet points? This shit is seriously embarrassing.

What i've always found hilarious is that they would have gone to see the film anyway as how would they be able to confirm in their minds that it was 'shit'.

Nope, not localised to any one system. See it in IMAX and sit toward the back of the cinema. A movie on this scale deserves IMAX. If you find that the image ghosts, re-watch in RealD (only if the cinema has a digital projector, otherwise pointless)

He has a point, no? I'll probably love Avatar. But there WILL be more negative reactions, and they're not likely to surface right now.

Fuckin a', the graphics sure as hell oughta be great for all the time spent on them, somebody tell us about THE STORY.

There you go.

Though i know you'll then say only one is mentioning the story but these are tweets at the end of the day.

People are taking no issue with revealing the scores they're giving it, like the guy who said he's giving it a 3/5. There are tons of easy ways to talk about Avatar impressions, positive or negative, without breaking the embargo. If you tweeted "I just saw a big epic movie, and it sucked", people could probably gather that you're talking about Avatar given the timing, but it would be impossible to accuse you of breaking any embargo.

True. But I thought it was implied he was talking more about the the more detailed reactions.

Anyway the 4/10 story/characterization comment wasn't exactly ambiguous, and I hope it's an exception ('passable' will probably be the general opinion, I'd think). I'm expecting a fantastic movie, not just a special effects blockbuster.

I don't know...what would you give Titanic in terms of story/characterization?

Yeah, see, I didn't think Titanic was such a great movie, but I still enjoyed it just for its scale and effects. So I'm probably not the best person to comment.

[edit] The comparison is a bit awkward, though, since Titanic definitely relied more on its love story as a centerpiece than Avatar will. I get the impression that there's a great deal more going on. So I expect to really enjoy it overall.

Yes, sir.

Well, nobody's given detailed reactions yet, positive or negative. At least, I haven't seen any. All I've seen are tweets.

That also just goes to show that people aren't necessarily hesitating to criticize the movie in some fashion. Remains to be seen why he scored it that way - could be the lack of originality when it comes to the overarching plot and character interactions, which even positive impressions have commented on, though they also said it was executed so well that it didn't matter (to them).

By "detailed", I mean giving more away than just SUCKED or AWESOME, which many tweets have.

DevelopmentArrested said:
interesting. so theres no way to watch it 2d then in theatres (not saying i want to just asking)
There will be a lot of 2D showings of the movie.

In theatre's that don't have digital projectors, there is a 2D version of the film that they can play instead.

Who's done that so far? All the positive impressions are as short as the negative ones. So I'm not getting your point, I'm afraid. You're saying the original guy said what he said because there aren't any detailed negative impressions, but there aren't any detailed positive impressions, either.

I think the story of Titanic was pretty good Heck, I wasn't even sure how they were going to escape so the action parts got me too! The main characters of Jack & Rose were very anti-typical.

They were certainly surrounded by stereotypes though (at least on the wealthy side), but imo that was an intentional decision on Cameron's part.

It's not in my top 10 or anything but it was solid movie-making in my book and doesn't take anything away from my expectations of Avatar.

Stay with me here, Zeliard! My understanding of "more detailed" here, like his, is anything that contains details beyond just general judgments (awesome, fantastic): the special effects or the story specifically, for example. I was just trying to explain that. However, since our back-and-forth started, I've seen a few criticisms or sobered impressions of Avatar finally begin to be posted. I'd still maintain, though, that there might still be people less eager to break the embargo since the hammer would fall more heavily on them. Or maybe not. I dunno, we'll see.

Are they coming out with a non-3d version? I can't watch 3d movies.

Maybe I should sue Cameron for the profits and be a bazillionaire.

From the french review:

After this upgrade, it is of course an astronomical amount of things to say about Avatar. And first on the special place that the film occupies in the work of James Cameron. Film sum, the pinnacle of everything that made the price of his film, Avatar nevertheless mark a significant shift from its director. After a hiatus of twelve years in the film, Cameron has clearly changed without denying. Undoubtedly influenced by his escapade in the documentary, the filmmaker discusses his new world over with the approach of an explorer, or an anthropologist than an adventurer.

Hot.

I wouldn't really say that there's any important difference between "this movie is awesome" and "this movie has awesome CGI and story", but I digress. The full reviews remain to be seen, though some have started to crop up. I'm just honestly getting tired of all the pessimism and cynicism - I wouldn't care except that every single time a positive impression of Avatar comes up, it's trivialized in one fashion or another, while negative impressions are often championed as "proof" that the movie sucks. It's so transparent.

There's no good reason for anybody to want the movie to turn out poorly, other than to talk shit. Unfortunate side effect of the Internet, I suppose.

Who cares either way? Would average to bad impressions of the story keep you at home when this shit is playing in IMAX with digital 3D? Come on people you paid to see Transformers 2 and GI fucking JOE.

Yes, ma'am.

Any theatre that doesn't have digital projectors will be getting 2D versions of the film.
