you didn't hear this one before? You have 2 train tracks, on one track there is a baby on the other 5 adult people, none of the will move off the train tracks by act of ROB* and there is a train incoming, you have to decide on which train track to reroute the train, do you kill the 5 people or the baby?
*edit: oh yeah people here don't know this one, ROB=random omnipotent being

random people, maybe one day someone of them will invent a cure for cancer and the baby will become hitler 2.0, or the other way around, thing is you don't know, they are all random people you have never meet, don't know their future or past and have no personal connection whatsoever with themDabookerman said:Depends on the 5 people. Who are they? Random bums or Inventors, Composers etc?
/facepalmjett said:It's a movie, those people don't exist you know.
There was a long ass line of people going back. Why do you assume no one will tell the truth?FirewalkR said:That's the point. It didn't, but as I asked in my previous post... who went back that can tell the truth, against Selfridge's word?
I think I saw him at the end standing with the na'viDeathNote said:Also.. to name a name... did the mole left helped Jake escape and that warned Jake go home , stay, or die?

they exsist in the universe the movie has set up
jett said:Raped and murdered? When did that happen?![]()
And it was Earth's governments that demanded a peaceful means of communication with the Na'Vi...RDA is just a corporation. Truthfully I don't really care to talk about stuff that it isn't in the movie as I find that to be a massive waste of time.
We'll see what happens in the Avatar 2: The Naviquel.
ConfusingJazz said:corporate guy gets back to earth and tells them
jett said:So? At no point does the movie make me care for them. Nor does the movie point out that unobtanium is needed for their survival. Actually what the movie does point out is that the material is valued at a fuckbunch of money and that is the only reason RDA is in Pandora. For their own needs.
What Pandorapedia does point out is that Unobtanium is vital for RDA's survival, as it powers their interstellar spaceships and the maglev system they own. I say fuck RDA.
ConfusingJazz said:Um...
Never said it did, the corporate guy will tell them that though, and so will most of the soldiers that survived.
jett said:That's a decently sized serving of assumption.
You dodged the fact that the movie and pandorapedia doesn't say the resource is needed for preserving human life.ConfusingJazz said:Um...
Never said it did, the corporate guy will tell them that though, and so will most of the soldiers that survived.
The movie really shouldn't have to do that, cause you know, as the view you are human, so you should know how you feel about preserving human life and all that.
And you know what my feeling was? Both of those guys were craptacular at military tactics. Why would they even use soldiers? We have robot assassins now! And when they saw they were massing from the satellite, why didn't they drop a bomb from said satellite, or some place close to it? You know, where dragons and arrows can't really kill you.
DeathNote said:You dodged the fact that the movie and pandorapedia doesn't say the resource is needed for preserving human life.
Also, I thought the battle tactic debate was over? Bringing that card out again?
Crow said:At the end of it, and since the film states there's no longer any green on Earth...
Jake says to look into Grace's memories, and considering he is 'heard' implies it is indeed true. And the scriptment describes earth's state in quite some detail.Timbuktu said:We only hear that from Jake in the movie though

If they count Sunday numbers it will surpass week 1 most likely. I know a fuck ton of people going today to watch it in 3D. The damn IMAX experience 3D ones are all sold out as well.jett said:Will it increase again when finals come out on Monday!?
Hopefully.

Crow said:I'd like to think Gaia bitchslaps us back to the stone age before we start destroying other worlds, or else where does it stop?
so you would support the extinction of humanity (talking in general here, not specific to avatar) in order for an alien species to survive? That being said, I'd be sympathetic to the Na'vi anyway. RDA may not represent humanity, but it likely has world government backing if it's mining a resource the world economy has become reliant upon
DanielPlainview said:Avatar scores 2nd best 2nd wknd gross of all-time right behind Dark Knight's $75.2M.
and fun fact: Top Non #1 Openings of All-Time: Day After Tomorrow $68.7M, Sherlock Holmes $65.4M, Wanted $50.9M, Alvin 2 $50.2M.
