{Rumor} "iPhone 8" - New drawing/rendering leak

How does what you quoted merit that response?

I really liked the S8/+ design. I was waiting to see what Apple was going to do with the 8 (given it's the 10th anniv. of iPhone) before I made my purchasing decision. Now that these "renders" and leaks are out there, it made my decision a lot easier, as the S8 design is leagues ahead.

Tell me exactly where you got lost.

No you're right. I realized after I posted my response that there was no issue or hypocrisy between the two things I quoted. I was going to edit but got called away. I just now edited the post.

I apologize.

Apple's palm rejection on their macbook trackpads is already great. I've no doubt they'd do a great job with preventing accidental touches on the new iPhone.

Yeah, I'm sure Apple will figure something out, but it would be funny if there were another "you're holding it wrong" incident.

Hey, I can appreciate the heck out of that. Internet strangers are usually dismissive and condescending. Props to you for owning it up. No apologies needed, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't unclear in my statements. Have a good one.

Yep, fanboy wars are embarrassing

Don't see how that's the case from my comment. I have an iMac and an iPad. I love them both to death, as they make my life incredibly easier. Nonetheless, the latest iteration of Samsung's S series (at least design/aesthetics-wise) trumps the iPhone handily. That's my opinion. No 'fanboyz warz' needed.

What are you on about ? The iPhone will shit all over the S8 in every conceivable way.

We have no way of knowing this yet, even if it weren't all subjective. This is all rumor so far, and there were rumors and schematics from a reputable source last week claiming Touch ID will just be moved to the back of the phone rather than embedded into the screen (which is one of the few ugly fucking things about the S8+).

If that's true, it makes me a lot less excited for this year's iPhone.

I'm an iPhone owner and I even posted in the S8 reveal event thread about how unbelievable that phone looks.

Samsung's phone hardware has been top notch for the past couple years, and Apple really needs to step up their game in that regard.

2017 is the year of no home button

They've been gone since 2011.

I think Apple's history generally shows that they're more likely to just delay the launch of the phone by a couple of months instead of changing its design if they're having yield problems.

Here's an example of why I hate iPhone speculation season:

iPhone 8 Could Ship Without Touch ID Entirely, Analyst Believes

So now we've had Touch ID embedded into the screen where it can be read from any point on the screen, embedded into just the bottom area of the screen, embedded into the back of the device, and now gone entirely.

We've also had bezels staying the same, being completely absent, being present on just the sides, and be present on just the chin and forehead.

Basically, the only design we haven't had rumored is a phone version of this:

The only thing we can be sure of is that Apple is releasing a new iPhone. Pretty much anything else is rumor.

It's all bullshit until we get potato cam footage from Foxconn

When was the last time that an iPhone leak has looked as good as the real thing (assuming this is real).

Reminds me of the iPhone 4 leak that got trashed for being ugly and unapple like. It then goes on to being one of the most well liked designs.

Bruh come on now. That phone looks like shit. U could make the case that nothing Apple has done is original, but nobody cares bc tech revolves around Apple doing it later because they generally always do it better (as in better design or better successfully)

Apple's rumored 5.8-inch iPhone with an OLED display will feature a stainless steel enclosure sandwiched between front and back glass with 2.5D curvature along the edges, according to Japanese blog Mac Otakara.

The blog claims the so-called "iPhone Edition" will have an improved version of the polished stainless steel used for the mid-range Apple Watch. The report also reiterates that the Home button will be removed, as widely rumored, but the blog could not confirm if Touch ID will be embedded under the display.

As seen in a handful of renders over the past few weeks, the "iPhone Edition" will reportedly also be equipped with a vertically-aligned dual-lens iSight Duo camera on the rear for VR purposes. Accordingly, when the iPhone is used in a VR headset, the cameras would be positioned horizontally as customary.

You know, if the phone does look like that, I'm not feeling the border around the phone. I was expecting more wall to wall goodness, bit disappointed if this isn't the case.

Bruh,

This is a 6 year old, budget phone. It was the first Android OS and hardware to introduce on screen navigation. I would only hope Apple's 2017 $1,000+ phone looks better.

There's been a countless number of phones since then that had nixed the home button in favor of on screen buttons.

I'm not talking about Apple copying something, but to act like a phone without a home button is new is ridiculous.

I'm still rolling with my 4S, so I have enough space to rest my thumb on the side. I feel like people are gonna end up holding the iPhone 8 like you'd hold a CD ie. at the edges in order to avoid making unintended gestures on an active screen. Is that really comfortable? I'm not so sure.

Yeah...maybe. I guess we'll see.

I mean I hold my thumb at the side of the phone, not the bezel but the side. It's comfortable for me.

Galaxy Nexus
Budget phone

pick one. It had the same hardware of the Galaxy S2 and was among the first phones (if not the first at all can't remember) to have a 720p screen.

The original post you quoted from Whales called 2017 the year of no Home button. I don't think he was claiming no phone before this year didn't have them; I think he just meant that this is the year where a lot of the more mainstream phones are losing them.

Looks amazing love the bigger screen but same physical size as Iphone 7. If it's near £1000 going to be hard to press the buy button.

I'm just going to go ahead and say it. The 'One final thing' moment....

Apple are going to bring back the 3.5mm jack. Tech blogs will love it, herald the "return of Apple."
