I suppose the argument would be that if he left they can't fire him again for leaking it. However I'm sure they signed a NDA where Nintendo could possibly pursue legal action.

I love arm chair photoshop experts. Guys. Here's a hint. I could transform ANYTHING into anything in photoshop. Seriously. That morphed image of Lil Mac into Shulk is laughable. You can do that with literally anything. Remember animorphs? Remember Michael Jackson's Black and White video? Shapes easily transform into other shapes. Eyes looks like eyes. Mouths look like mouths. Using opacity on two faces to show they're shopped is BS. Humans generally share the same placement of features. I could do that with any two characters and their legitimate artwork. >See Marth, Lucina, and Ike.

What is this leaking exactly? A stage isn't huge but if it's a character then god damn!
Then please explain to me why an existing render of Mario matches up so well with the Dr. Mario render the leaker made.

Because they're both Mario.
It's evidence that lends considerable credibility as it was leaked with the rumored characters.

See the leaked stage select in the top right? It has the same room as the scan in the bottom right.
The leaked stage select came before the scan. It's incredibly heavy confirmation.
Because it just looks like mario. That particular pose is not unique to that render of mario.
The main problem though is the fact that looking similar is not enough to discredit something. Of course a render of Dr. mario is going to look similar to a Mario.
Where is that gif of someone saying pignite was fake cause it looked like Lickylicky?

Maybe he wasn't thinking about legal action and just thought since he already left, they can't fire him? I remember there was a Pokemon leak where someone revealed some of their personal info and Nintendo made the store that leaked the game go out of business. Leakers can make mistakes.

The circled room has appeared in two places- the leak, and the Famitsu scan. The furniture, decoration and layout is the same. Barring a massive coincidence, this is a huge pointer towards the leak being legit.
But why does the angle of his face and general pose fit into each other with little adjustment?

One of the leaks straight up says "these characters will be DLC:", then lists a few multi-game veterans and Chorus Men.

Doc is a veteran of Smash Bros. They're bringing back a lost character. That should be applauded, not discouraged.

Perhaps they're not entirely finished so they will be included by default in the Wii U version, with the added bonus that if you buy the Wii U version you get them for free on 3DS.
Something along those lines would do a good job of making the Wii U release still feel like a big deal because of giving it more characters. Plus if they were already in progress, just not quite finished, it would explain why a leaker would know about DLC plans.

All that you're showing me is another render the leaker could've used as a base to create Dr. Mario with. This one has his hand on his hip too.
"Because it just does" does not explain why Dr. Mario's portrait has such a similar pose to a previous Mario render. Shouldn't he be interacting with a pill or a stethoscope like his past portraits?

Going by Sakurai's comment a few days ago about Samus' outfit.. they're literally in crunch time.
