I’ve heard from a source close to the development team at Telltale Games that The Wolf Among Us 2 is in serious trouble due to budget constraints. According to what I’ve been told, the studio has been struggling with funding for a while, and there are internal discussions about whether they can realistically continue development.
The source mentioned that while the project hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, they’re at a critical point where they might have no choice but to shelve it. There’s a lot of pressure from within the company to keep things quiet while they try to figure out how to move forward, but the situation looks grim.
Obviously, this hasn’t been confirmed publicly, and things could still change, but it doesn’t sound good.

Mod edit: Update on the story via Eurogamer & Telltale PR:

"As a rule, we don't comment on rumours and unsubstantiated reddit threads," a Telltale PR told us. "But development on The Wolf Among Us 2 continues and we're excited to share more about the game with Telltale fans and our community when the time is right."

I'm not surprised. Seems like they went quiet for a long time with any progress. I really liked the first game, and caused me to read the comic (which was cool but got weird).

Just release what you have as a Netflix interactive movie and cut your losses.
I have no idea how much it'd cost to do NF animated series vs a game, but it seems like the kind of games they make would turn into more palatable media on a streaming service.

I dont think any of their games have sold well since the X360/PS3 days. Probably why they've struggled with money for a decade. At least thats the impression I get.

Enjoyed the story of the first far more than the actual gameplay. As usual, sucks for those working on the project. I don't suppose there's anything to salvage off this?

Money issues? Their games have never been about graphics. Why is it such a problem still?
Not sure if this still applies, but poor planning and mismanagement were huge factors to their initial downfall. Hopefully lessons were learned, but it ain't looking good.

I remember reading how the company stagnated because they refused to change from their in house engine to something more modern, and they bled money attracting trendy licenses without any plans on making sustainable profit.

I thought TTG started failing because they struck gold with Waking Dead being a hot property at the time. Then they churned out a million similar games thinking it was all about their gameplay, when in reality it was the licensed IP. Over saturation and overhead costs. I dont think any of their follow up games (which includes lots of licensed IPs too) did as well as WD. But maybe I'm wrong there when it comes to sales.
