So MS is backing away from TV, TV, TV, NFL, TV and realizing games matter? Sorry, but more band-aids are not going to compensate for a bad design.
Like sony did with other OS on PS3?
True, it's all speculation at this point. So the question remains, what impacts does it have?
i think people are jumping the gun on the snap thing. i dont think its going away. the gpu reservation thing must be like the memory reservation thing on the ps4 right?
taking features away that you pushed like crazy at launch would just be dumb to what will probably account to a negligible performance bump.
I am asking because I am ignorant: but couldn't devs optimize the game for both 720 and 1080 so the gamer can select their settings in game?
Works for Apple. Sheeple lap dat shit up!
Again, I don't think they will completely remove video snap. I just wouldn't be surprised if they let devs decided on if they want users to have it while playing their games.
Smaller games should be fine in terms of keeping it. It's the bigger, action packed games that I'm questioning.
Will this let Halo 5 be native 1080p @ 60fps locked?

If they wanted to, they could, but anything that fragments a console's user base tends to not get support. The whole point of consoles is that you are coding/designing to a single configuration. Saying they need to support XB1.5 is like saying they need to support another console. If MS needs to go that far, it's time for the XBox Two.
And if you want some precedent, the closest analogy to what you want is the 32x. It was an addon for the Genesis. You plugged it in and it got more powerful and could play new games. It failed.

xbox one before - goku
xbox one after - goku kaio ken
ps4 - goku super saiyan3

I just do not see MS keeping this GPU for 8 years when they're already conceding that performance is an issue two months after release. That's assuming this rumor is true.
Apples and oranges. MGS GZ is open-world, Tomb Raider is not.
1080p COD incoming! heh
That sounds like a good solution. Let devs decide what features to enable on their games. If they want snap they will have to spend 8% of GPU throughput on it. For less graphically intensive games that is fine. For the games where the devs are struggling to hit fidelity and performance targets, they'd have the option of taking away the snap feature while in game.
That game doesn't look demanding,i doubt its because of that. Either way it looks like MS cleaned house with the people who caused a clusterfuck and now the right people are fixing what they can.

Heh. Don't see how anyone could view this possible news as negative.
Also, it's possible for them to continue on with advertising media functions while continuing on giving good games that aren't on other consoles. It was true of Sony with the PS3.
The N64DD didn't do so hot either and how many N64 games actually used the ram expansion kit?
I doubt they'd leave it up to devs. Snap is a big feature in the X1, or at least that's the impression I get from X1 users. It's also something MS has focused a lot on, it just wouldn't make sense to allow it to be disabled.

There's one game that is not 1080p on PS4.
Flops all up in this bitch.
Definitely will be 60fps
100 percent agreed. This would be a great idea. I honestly have never used the snap thing after the first week. Totally pointless for me.
If it fucks with ANY of the media/multitasking functions on my console it's a negative to me. I bought the console with the expectation that it could do certain things at once. That is far more important to me than this 8% bump would be. I already have a PS4, and I don't want my X1 to simply become a weaker copy of it.

Not saying it can't ever happen, I'm just saying look at the pile of failed attempts vs the successes. Who would risk that over 1080p?
As I said earlier, I suspect they're just going to let users decide if they want to take a performance hit when they enable snap during gameplay for whatever reason. I'm thinking, outside of maybe snapping video, most snap functions wouldn't be using up that entire 8% anyway, so whatever impact might occur should be fairly minimal - we're not talking some 25% framerate loss or something of that sort.

The TVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTV guy is still there isn't he?
Glad the snap feature is being taken away for a slight bump. MS probably tracks all activities on the Xbone and realized no one used that feature.

You have XB1 now too? I like the feature during football games or other TV shows with downtimes.
