People are too willing to bandy accusations of false flags around.

Yes, Putin has done that before. He had some flats (apartment blocks) blown up, not important industry and research. You simply don't do this to yourself. And recently when Russia have attempted false flags, they have been so blatant and obvious that they were foiled before they could even do them.

No, as with so much about Russia, this screams of just plain incompetence, negligence and corruption (the cheap plastic cladding exemplifies that). Perhaps mistakes made under pressure. Maybe sabotage.
It's just too close with the Sarmat rocket test for me, I guess.

Lol, they've never acheived that.

The closest was the Korean War, and not only looking at the state of Korea (as a whole) now, but it took massive commitments the from likes of the US. The US sent most of the troops for it (90%), and others like the UK took heavy losses too (seriously, there are some incredible stories from it).

Not to denigrate the sacrifices the UN forces made then. They fought incredibly hard, just after WWII.
The UN's presence in the Korean War was possible because at that time USSR wasn't a member. So no veto vote against the military intervention.

Edit. sorry, actually the Soviet Union was a member but they were boycotting it when the war broke out

Well, they didn't say "start a fire" but it's pretty much on the same vein - good, every little bit helps. Still, start a fire instead of using gas heat :D

I‘d be more inclined to believe the potential of a false flag if it weren’t a weapons research facility, or a chemical factory that can potentially produce high explosives. On the other hand, if this is a successful act of sabotage, it will embolden whoever did it to do more, which would be lovely.

Is Russia so fucking backward that it doesn't realise Apple products can do this? Fuck my life, it's like the Russian Army is being run by Mr Bean.
You would be surprised. A common espionage tactic back in the day was to leave USB drives (back when they were new and expensive) in parking lots of secure installations and wait for someone to pick one up, take it in to work, and stick it into their government computer, all while being so pleased at finding such a treasure.

Folks are idiots about tech in general.

That's how I sit late at night for some reason.
With a massive puffed out chin and neck, gripping the table hard? Iean, maybe after a bottle of vodka...

This is in comparison to Shoigu who apparently recently had a 'massive heart attack'.

Wasn’t there a rumour that he’s got some kind of serious disease that is making him want to stamp his mark on the world before he kicks the bucket.

If so… mission accomplished fuckwad. Everyone thinks you’re a miserable loser!
Yes.

He's appeared puffy and semi-comatose, with slightly slurred speech ever since he came out of hiding from Covid. Not to mention the specific doctor he always has on call.

He also didn’t let go of the table for the entire video:

Yeah really didn't look good at all in that video. Everything he planned for over the past 15+ years appears to be collapsing all around him. Its a scenario they didn't anticipate 2 months ago, and he is obviously loosing sleep over it.

disclaimer: The above might just be my "wishful" thinking of how he looked.

Fuck it, it's a rough couple years. Let's have optimism, dude is dying.

That doesn't make you appear like that though (although it won't help).

He's clearly very ill.

Well, becoming the world's main villain and having so many atrocities made on his namw should not be easy to bear.

He may have realized that things were fine before and now he threw everything out of the window and he is doomed.
I bet he doesn’t care … and he has some kind of life threatening illness … so he is just doing stuff , so that he will be remembered for making Russia bigger again .. he could be death within 6 months.

This all reeks of the actions of a dying man .

I'm with you, let's be optimistic and believe it it's actually happening this time. And wishful thinking or not it actually seems like his body is struggling with something serious.

He looks like I do in a Monday morning meeting after getting carried away on the beers Sunday night. I.e. close to death.

I still don't understand why putrid allow the killing of civilians, there is literally nothing to gain and everything to lose.

The world think that russian are worse than nazi now, and they are gonna be hated for the next 30 years at best
Ukraine soldiers are angry and they are not gonna be gentle with captured russians soldiers
They literally push other nations entering nato even faster

Why he doesn't tell his generals to cut the balls of any soldier who rape or kill for fun?

What is the gain here? Even as a madman he probably know how bad he is looking right now...

i guess punishing those acts it's equivalent to admit they really happened, and they prefer the "fake news" strategy, which seems to be working,at least at home.

The question is, why doing that to begin with?

No need to create fake news if you dont actually kill civilians.

I mean, if i'm a shitty dictator i can barely understand bombing hospitals and other places where you think that ukraine soldiers are, because you kill soldiers other than civilians, but just fucking up innocent civilians for fun has literally no gain whatsoever.

So it's being reported that a Russian Military Official has said they plan to take the whole of Donbas and Southern Ukraine.... then plan on moving to Transnistria afterwards where "there is also evidence that the Russian-speaking population is being oppressed"

So they plan on invading another country after finishing off Ukraine.

They really are going full Hitler aren't they? Oppression of German speaking peoples was his excuse for conquest.

I call this bs. Russia is having massive loses. Prolonging the offensive sounds like a very stupid and unreasonable move...

guess it's not done by direct order, more like soldiers in a bad situation lashing at the "enemy" in retaliation

the shelling might just be actual aiming mistakes

or if it is under direct order, they might want to kill the spirit of the people and avoid stuff like people on tractors stealing tank and whatnot.

I remember at the start of the war ukranian citiziens were really brazen with russian soldiers, again stealing tanks, but even approaching them and mocking them on video..pretty sure now they are taken a little more as a threat now.

It still sound absurd, the downside of killing civilians are way more than the benefits.

In the beginning ukraine soldiers were pretty tame with captured soldiers, we saw people letting russians soldiers call home to talk to their mothers, reassuring them that they were safe etc.

But now? Every russian soldier is gonna be killed on sight or just treated way worse.

Putin would like that... he can turn around and accuse Ukraine of breaching conventions on the treatment of prisoners and use that as justification for further military action.

If Ukraine are smart they will be at odds to show they treat surrendering Russians fairly, if only to encourage the low moral Russian soldiers to defect and surrender.

also transistria is basically a piece of russia in moldavia, it is de facto independent and funded by russia.

taking it by arms gives very little benefits

Taking Transnistria will be easy for Russia. Moldova doesn't have anything like the army Ukraine has. If Putin/Russia are already in the dog house over Ukraine, nothing stopping them attacking any "weak" non-NATO country as no-one's gonna do anything they're not already doing.

Nobody is gonna give a fuck about ukranian soldiers killing russian soldiers after the brutality they showed...

If putin has proof of ukranian soldiers doing brutality towards russian soldiers, how about the fuckton of proofs of their own brutality? He can't win a blame war and he knows that.

Also the entire planet doesn't believe in their bullshit anymore, it is comedy gold every time they open their mouth to accuse someone of something.

It is, unfortunately, the way Russia likes to do war. A campaign of terror designed to destroy the will of the opponent.

The problem this time around for them is that modern media allows us to see the crimes being committed.

I hope no one is still labouring under the misapprehension that these atrocities are anything other than the deliberate tactics of Putin and his army.
