Maybe this is the arms race we need to take us to the moon. The current games industry isn’t serious anymore and infested with a cult.

It'll be bad if their console loses in head-to-head comparisons over at Digital Foundry, their top console scientists will have 3 choices:

  • Fight in the war against Ukraine.
  • 15 years of hard labor in the gulag.
  • Death by firing squad (after a 15 minute trial in a kangaroo court where you are found guilty).

Putin should just do the Sega Master System clone thing. If it works for Brazil...

Dope. Will it be sold outside of Russia?

This thing will be a collectors item. Gotta have it.

Pre order now to receive a limited edition vodka controller, and a free bottle of vodka when you pick it up from your local shop.

First 100 in line get a free copy of Motherland! A new RTS game where you fight against Ukraine in order to bring glory to the motherland.

Not a bad want. It's obvious he wants to keep the rainbow clan out of Russia, bringing in American consoles doesn't achieve this. Will he be successful in his endeavor? Probably not, but the motivations make sense.

Inspired by the game Boyfriend Dungeon, a Russian team is working on a game titled, Tea Party Dungeon. You are tasked with making the tea’s for different level dungeon bosses.

Yes they do have good programmers. But I think most of the IT guys who were not employed to the government, left the country to avoid the risk of being drafted into the army.
A lot left, yeah, but not even close to the majority.

Folks have families, plus with sanctions it was hard to get out to Western countries I believe. Most devs won’t find work easy in say Georgia, UAE or Turkey.

Don't be silly no one is getting killed people just fall out of windows sometimes.
It’s totally an accident. Even if the window is in the basement a fall can be fatal! 😉

Edit: The most lol worthy setup was a dude (exec from an oil company) with a heart condition in a hospital, who could barely move somehow managed to get up on a balcony all by himself, and “jumped” down.

There is very little chance Russia can evolve advanced semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in its own.

The most likely outcome is Russia piggybacking on Chinese efforts and maybe try to build up packaging and older node manufacturing, which would still be quite important in the long term.

For the gaming console there are enough ARM based chips out of China that they could use.
They already have their own CPU (Elbrus) which are compatible with x86-64, now they just need a GPU (possibly PowerVR-based since they were acquired by a Chinese equity firm)
