The Russians are so fucking high off of sniffing their own shit.

They make it illegal to call it a war, yet allow TV hosts and pundits to threaten war with Europe and the US and how they'll 'crush'. Yet it is they who also not very subtly hint that they'd used nuclear weapons.

You don't use nuclear weapons unless you are or are going to lose very, very, very badly. And yet the pundits are in with that too.

Oh, for fuck's sake!

Even as a authoritarian country invades and commits atrocities in another country, the lessons are not being learnt by some.

New Zealand. Go sit in the sin bin with Germany, you fucking wazzocks. Another democracy that's let their military wallow too.

As fucked as Aussie politics is, at least they haven't dropped the ball in general.

Fucking OUCH.

We can argue the merits of the EU’s contribution as a whole, but the absolute pasting Germany’s reputation is taking over Scholz’s mealy mouthed response to the worst war atrocities committed since the ones his country was responsible for, is going to be a mark on the nation for decades. There has to be a change in their words and optics. The SPD are trashing Germany’s standing in the world.

Bizarrely similar situation: heavily pacifist, naturally liberal political parties, cozy up to authoritarian dictatorships too much in a misguided belief that their democratic ways will rub off on them, and make them better members of the international community.

Hubris and arrogance, that the authoritarians know how to play like a fiddle.

For all ScoMo’s towering faults, this is not one of them, and will probably help him to a victory over the human personality vacuum Albanese. Australia has learned (arguably too late) that you can’t trust the fuckers as far as you can throw them. Miss Ardern and her overweening sense of righteousness have not done similar.

Thank god NZ has all the leverage and influence on the international stage of a mouldy potato.

Would be lovely that just as they start to run out, Ukraine starts to get some from NATO. Then they can grind them into fucking paste.

...but then that would require countries to actually send Ukraine tanks, so...

Would be great, wouldn't it?

Fucking OUCH.

Saw a few other comments around this some topic elsewhere. It's absolutely hypocritical. There's also some commentary that Germany only has a few weeks of ammo/etc to sustain combat in the event of an actual confrontation with Russia which is partly why they aren't even able to do more - they actually don't have anything to give. Basically a pants down moment.

Australia has done some stupid things, including the recent purchases of a few billion dollars worth of Abrams tanks - like a ground war with China IN Australia is going to be a thing. Anyway, they've kept themselves somewhat engaged and aren't totally flatfooted. They've finally woken up, and did a pretty good dunk on China with their recent coal spat. At least they are on the right course... NZ.. well, not sure about them.

Think we're learning that the US is over built and it's allies under built.

Why don't the russians cut up the oxygen supply to that plant? I'm guessing that deep underground they'll need some sort of tubing to get fresh air down there no?

It's sad that after 2 WWs being on the wrong side of the conflict, Germany has the chance to stand up and do what's right but still refuses.

Scholz is an absolute disgrace.

If he keeps going like that, I would not be surprised about a vote of confidence coming from the Bundestag.

You think that's likely? I know the other parties have been pushing far more for Germany to do more, but do you think it'll go that far? Germany has never seemed the kind of country for those kinds of big, emotive political upheavals.

It’s bad… the poles are going to be rightfully angry about this and the French-German axis to the west alongside the German-Poland axis to the east are currently the central flows of the EU. And that eastward axis is critical to maintain EU cohesion with the newer, eastern members.

His own ministry of defense is publicly going against him. Coalition partners want to do more and so does the populace.

This could very well end up in busting the coalition which would give rise to a vote of confidence.

Scholz is becoming untenable even for SPD standards.

Well, I can name you one...

That aside, we need some of that Prussian military prowess back.

Let’s hope you’re right. This is increasingly becoming highly damaging for the alliance against Putin.

Doesn't really matter who is in charge in Germany.

Until they break the insidious, behind the scenes link with big German industry, their politicians will always come down on the side of money over doing the right thing.

This is a country that basically sacrificed a generation of European young people to the unemployment scrap heap, after the financial crisis of 2008, in order to protect their manufacturing base by keeping the value of the Euro artificially low, to protect German exports....and they were supposedly its allies within the EU.

Pretty much the only reply. The fuck they going on about? Pretty much getting wrecked by a under armed but highly motivated army in Ukraine... What would they do to the US, let alone NATO?
Who the hell knows. US alone would fucking smash them in 2 weeks.

One wonders what the Greeks must think when they hear the Germans saying they can’t stop gas imports because it would damage the German economy.

Now… what was it the German government did to the Greek economy during the Euro crisis? 🤔 Insisted they suffer deep austerity to save the currency, wasn’t it? And yet now, when they could suffer some economic damage themselves to save actual lives rather than just money… it’s a different story, isn’t it?

And us, and Spain, and Italy. This sure puts them in hindsight.Specially when you see news about Unions and Manufacturers planning a strike because they want to keep buying Russian gas...

Lol the shadow of Merkel’s Men in Black is still felt over there.

It seems they are eating too much of their "fake news"

Marvel Whatever GIF

This isn't really meant for the west. Putin and his cronies know attacking a NATO country would be suicide and dropping a single nuke in such a country would turn Russia into one giant radioactive crater.
This type of posturing is meant for the Russian public, they eat it up and believe their country is invincible and they shouldn't worry about any war anywhere.

I think before it was with a gun...

Edit: I think this one is new, the other was with a gun in Russia for a bank owner, this is another suicide Ruzzian style.

Putin can celebrate all he wants but it will probably be a while before Mariupol is fully under his control. There's probably loads of Ukranian forces hidden throughout the city just waiting for the right opportunities to ambush and take out Russians.

Dayam that's some package of military aid, can only imagine how utterly fucking awful this situation would've been with Mr Tango in charge, tbf the yanks should just say we're mobilising our military to assist Ukraine and just put the absolute shits up the Russians, can only imagine those degenerate fuckwits if they heard the Americans are coming to fight, I'd dare say half would desert before they realized they where being trolled

Well I wouldn't be celebrating just yet, wonder what those fuckers do... you know false flag, etc...
People are too willing to bandy accusations of false flags around.

Yes, Putin has done that before. He had some flats (apartment blocks) blown up, not important industry and research. You simply don't do this to yourself. And recently when Russia have attempted false flags, they have been so blatant and obvious that they were foiled before they could even do them.

No, as with so much about Russia, this screams of just plain incompetence, negligence and corruption (the cheap plastic cladding exemplifies that). Perhaps mistakes made under pressure. Maybe sabotage.
