I'll give it a rest, but some of this self-defense of EU is crazy - and I hope we don't stop cause we can't go back to how things used to be - EU needs to learn from their failures, not defend them.

You'll give it a rest because the facts don't support your folly.

The international community is responding to support Ukraine and to give Putin the middle finger he has been deserving for awhile. How about you cheer every announcement instead of attempting to use this to lay bare your personal vendettas.

Lol@thinking "helping" the EU against Russia is what's keeping Americans from enjoying what us Europeans take for granted.. Free Healthcare, workers rights etc... I hate to break it to you, but its rich American lobbyists/politicians keeping the rest of you having to pay $3000 for a 5min ambulance ride..

Plus all those weapons sent to Ukraine means your military industrial complex gets to bill Uncle Sam for all the replacements, hell with the US not actually at war with anyone for a change has worked out great for those 1 percenters, means some poor country doesn't get a taste of Freedom whilst the gaze aka $$$ signs are firmly placed on Eastern Europe and in this rarest of cases it's actually a good thing, a few get richer, your weapon factories get big orders and thus jobs are secured, Ukraine gets the help it needs and Russia gets weakened

Capitalists and liberals are looking at Ukraine and salivating at the prospect of 41 million more tenants, consumers and workers.

Sure - I guess my "narrative" is so poor that even the DW has gotten into the "shields up" business protecting Germany. It's just not fair!

Meanwhile...

We'll see if that "phased" approach will actually have teeth. Nice way to release pressure, but 6 months from now it'll be October, and unless you fix your terminals or replace your ancient natural gas heating infrastructure I suspect the will to enforce it will quickly diminish.

But maybe it doesn't matter about military support since apparently Germany has no more to give (because anymore and it too won't be able to defend itself from Russia... like, WHAT?)

Was going to go with another tweet for this announcement but the image has such a fine resemblance to Ophiuchus.

Sure - I guess my "narrative" is so poor that...

So poor that your whole spiel about EU not funding/donating to Ukraine has been so thoroughly debunked you've quietly moved to quoting union leaders.

Meanwhile, India has started buying wholesale every single grade of oil Russia produces and having secured that is moving onto the coal production and you do not seem to be bothered at all.

Thoroughly debunked my ass. Germany is literally saying they can't provide any more military support, and will withhold heavy armaments. Are you not even reading anything I post or even what the broader media is saying? I think you're not because if you are then you're just arguing on bad faith or not being self-critical of your own government(s). Asked another way, are you HAPPY with how the EU and Germany have handled things leading up to the war, and currently?

Oh, and fuck India too. It also isn't in their backyard - and it's not oil/gas that's their concern (which they should stop) but fertilizer and wheat imports that put their population at most risk (they import a HUGE amount, and with the war and sanctions this will lead to famine a few months down the road if nothing is done about it).

My agenda? My agenda is saying "EU, do more, people are being raped and killed" and your response is "Don't criticize the EU!". It's you who are supporting and defending the meager efforts which are perpetuating this war - I'm saying (and Zelensky is asking for) "Germany, give Ukraine heavy weapons and armaments" and Germany is saying "Nien.". So it's not an agenda - not even sure why you're holding water for Scholz here. I mean, I guess you're happy with it like Bitmap is.. but sorry, I'm discontented in their reply and will happily say so.

Nobody is saying that people can't criticize the EU or any of its member states or that they should not be doing more.
People take issue with your blatant misrepresentation of the facts. Your highly antagonistic hot takes serve no other purpose than to satisfy your personal grudge and keep creating needless strife during a time when the West should be working together as allies.

Careful, some people don't like you criticizing their dear leader - it's nuanced, and simply too much for simple Americans or others to understand.

F*cking hell, and you wonder why people react to you like that?
When others take their time to formulate a well argued reply, you respond with more reductive screeching. That is not how one should approach a discussion.

So stop straw-manning in order to justify you doubling down on your childish behavior. Maybe take a step back, because you are totally obsessing over this thread to the point of completely drowning each discussion with your numerous repetitive replies.

So the Mariupol situation. Why doesn't the UN send in a peacekeeping force to oversee the safe evacuation of the civilians and defenders stuck in the Azovstal plant, and potentially in other areas? Im sure even Russia would support a move like that as it would finally allow them to declare a 'victory' in the city.

Ummm, you do know how toothless the UN are?

They don't have some army to send in. They rely on members to commit their own forces. And guess which member is utterly against that...

'UN' military involvement only really works in small, poor countries. And even then it rarely achieves that much. Sometimes UN forces even end up committing atrocities.

So they're basically useless despite supposedly existing to ensure global peace and security.

When the UN sent a peacekeeping force into Cyprus, they sat and watched us get massacred by mainland Greek soldiers and Greek Cypriot militias. When they weren't sitting there, dick in hand, revelling in our ethnic cleansing, they were stomping down our tents and raiding what little valuables we had left.

Why are their red army monuments in Poland?
Probably in some village where no one cared about them. As far as I know there is none here now, but before Crimea situation, there were quite a lot of them here on small villages and so on

And the rest of the countries in Europa meanwhile will keep donating.

The EU only exists to you depending on whatever goal you're trying to score at the moment.

Having previously known nothing of the way military inventories are managed, I find fascinating that enough countries kept enough bits here and there to churn working aircraft out of them.

I hope Ukraine can lego its way into many more airships!

To quote Omar from the Wire:

"Same dude, different name is all...

...See, back in middle school and all, I used to love them myths. That stuff was deep. Truly."
Many ancient Greek myths were established in those areas. Snake Island has been sacred to Achilles since antiquity.

That those most suitable pagan names were involved in sending the invading Moskva to the deep with its crusading piece of the True Cross in modern times is marvelous.

I look at all these announcements about what is being shipped to Ukraine and how, and have to wonder how accurate they actually are.

I mean... would it really be in Ukraine’s best interest to openly say what they are exactly getting?

Like John Kirby’s comments about ‘parts’ of fixed wing aircraft. Would they be enough parts to complete and entire plane, and have those planes already been put together?

If I were NATO and Ukraine, I’d be keeping my cards close to my chest for the battlefield.

’Mystify, mislead, and surprise the enemy’.

Lol, they've never acheived that.

The closest was the Korean War, and not only looking at the state of Korea (as a whole) now, but it took massive commitments the from likes of the US. The US sent most of the troops for it (90%), and others like the UK took heavy losses too (seriously, there are some incredible stories from it).

Not to denigrate the sacrifices the UN forces made then. They fought incredibly hard, just after WWII.

It seems they are eating too much of their "fake news"

Oh dear. You have to wonder whether these talking meat puppets actually believe anything they are saying, or that they know they're just spouting propaganda dictated to them by the Kremlin.

Can anyone with the merest hint of a grip on the real world really think that Russia could in any way stand up to the USA and NATO in an actual conflict? Do they still in exist in this post-war fantasy that the Soviet Union and USA are still roughly comparable?

The greatest crime the west has committed is allowing Russia to think it is far more powerful than it actually is.

A pretty good analysis of the tank loses Russia has been seeing... It's pretty dire for them (there are some stats for Ukrainian forces too but there's a caveat and also misalignment but needless to say, I suspect they have been pretty bad too :( - they need equipment ASAP)

Would be lovely that just as they start to run out, Ukraine starts to get some from NATO. Then they can grind them into fucking paste.

...but then that would require countries to actually send Ukraine tanks, so...

Generals can proudly report to Putin that demilitarization is going well. Just don't mention it's demilitarization of Russia.
