Well from what I read before, China has a policy to help Ukraine in case anyone uses Nuclear weapons on their soil.
If Putler does it, and they do nothing, then their word on a global scale will be tainted, and cannot be trusted as Ruzzia does now. I bet a lot of countries will exploit it if this happens. If Putler does, and they assist well.... they may get some too.

It’s need for freeing the country , as Russia can’t supply troops or aid or military needs . If I was the Ukrainians I would send a couple of Hi-mars to damage it even more. And the bonus now the Ukraine has Russians unable to flee easily back to Russia . Also: fuck Putin !
