Man Girkin should get a comedian gig, reading his super salty blog is my new guilty pleasure

List of phrases recommended for state-patriotic journalists when describing the situation with the Crimean bridge (as part of the presidential administration's humanitarian grant):

1. "What nonsense! We'll fix it in two days! If they keep blowing it up, we will repair it at least every day! They don't have enough explosives - they blow it up all the time!
2. "So what if they blew it up? October is almost over, the whole country has already had time to relax in the Crimea! Until the next season everything will be better than before!"
3. "No need to be nervous! One blew up - we'll build a second one next to it - exactly the same. - They will get tired of blowing it up!"
4. "Stupid Chochols! They have been building for seven months, and on the eighth month they managed to drop only three spans!
5. "Why do we need this bridge now, if we now have a road by land through Mariupol and Melitopol?"
6. "For now the whole world has seen that there are terrorists in Kiev! Now Zelensky will not turn away! For the sake of it and 10 bridges is not a pity!"
7. "Fine, but now we have two air defense divisions freed up and a bunch of guards can be sent to the front."
8. "Do you know how much the maintenance of this bridge cost us for the budget? The Ukrainians are idiots - they did us a huge favor! Otherwise we would have had to make losses year after year!
9. "The bridge was causing huge damage to the ecology of the Sea of Azov!"
10. "We can't be like the Nazis! We are not! We have children to give birth to from the "Azov people"! If necessary - we will blow up all our bridges ourselves and let us all die, but they - our brothers - will go to heaven!"
11. "What do you care? It's somewhere in Crimea that they blew up.... The bosses will figure it out!"
12. "In fact, the Khokhly people have hurt themselves! After all, now our people will rally even closer around the president! And we are used to difficulties!"
13. "But at least we restored the memorial on the Saur-Grave!"
14. "Well now Putin won't forgive them! He is vindictive! It will take at least 30 years - then he will remind them everything! The world will shudder from the terrible Russian Silence!"
15. "Let us not fall for provocation! Let them blow up anything - we won't declare war!

Somehow they've already opened the bridge to traffic and are going to be re-opening the rail line soon? Would have been nice if there was more damage but they're probably skirting some safety measures because Russia will be Russia. Seems that this was a more symbolic move on Ukraine's part than anything else. They probably don't have the capabilities to damage the bridge enough that its unusable for a long period of time.

Half of the other side of the bridge has dropped on sea and you had oil cargo burning on the trail tracks. I'd wait and see how it actually is.

Is it coup time?

In fucked up governments like autocracies and oligarchies, law enforcement and military tends to be paid better and treated better than the average citizen, and heavily indoctrinated in an attempt to secure their loyalty. I'm sure you are already aware of that, just jumping into the conversation.

So I wouldn't expect any real coup to occur in a country like Russia. Rather, it would be a group of the oligarchs who Putin made wealthy began to worry about losing that wealth and security, so they conspire to assassinate him and replace him with someone who will go back to business as usual and not go around starting brutal invasions that bring down the heat of the civilized world upon their heads.

1/2 of the roadway was still usable so thats probably back up as soon as possible. Is it safe? Russia doesn't care.

Rail line will need new tracks after they pull the two sides apart and could be days. Again is it safe...russia doesn't care.

The other side is apparently stable enough for traffic. Hard to believe but cars are being allowed through

Yea, one of the lanes stayed intact. The separation of the lines seems to have protected the bridge. Time will tell about the structural damage and you know this will be targeted again.

New bombs tomorrow 🤡😭

If not tomorrow then in like a week. It feels like Russia can't really do anything at this point while Ukraine toys with them.

I know the situation is still terrible and people are dying horribly, but the impression of all news and info coming out of the war the past month paints a bleak picture for Russia, while Ukraine is figuratively doing the Electric Slide and partying while blowing away Russian forces, equipment, and now even infrastructure.

there is no way they fixed that bridge that quickly surely, it was in the sea

Unfortunately, like most modern bridges it is modular, so they probably can fix it quickly. One of the roadways didn't go into the sea either, and each roadway has two lanes, so they are probably using it as bidirectional just with one lane in each direction instead of two.

Now is doing so responsible and safe? No, absolutely not. Any sane country would check all the nearby (and even less nearby) parts of the bridge for stress or damage before even considering opening a functional part of it. But this is Russia.

I’m neatly positioned between downtown to the south and the F-35 air wing to the north so when the nukes drop I’ll be able to enjoy the show for a bit before turning on every source of carbon monoxide and embracing the long sweet slumber….

That's an order right from Putin to reopen in order to show face, theres no way a proper assessment has been done on the structural integrity of that bridge after such a catastrophic explosion, no Western country would allow pedestrians on it for weeks
I hope they test the train and it beings down everything, it would be epic

Seems as though Russia are trying to blame it on a truck bomb, but that truck is from Russia, and the owner is Russian, and said owner is suggesting his Russian uncle was driving it.

Lets hope he just grew some balls, and this isn't the work of Putin himself so he can escalte.

some warcrimes on video

Not sure you can start a war with someone who didn't want it, and then complain when they...you know...kill your soldiers. That's not a war crime. That's self-defense. Russian soldiers should never be there to (a) get injured, and then (b) get fucking killed as a result.

some warcrimes on video

That is quite the "hot take" calling that a war crime. As far as I am aware that is most definitely not a warcrime. I see there a large group of enemy combatants fully armed and clearly a threat. The fact they are carryinig a wounded comrade does not make them immune from attack under the Geneva convention.

I think you may be confusing the crime of intentionally targetting medics or ambulances which are UNARMED. Yes it is a war crime if you target an unarmed ambulance or an unarmed medic (not that russia gives a shit about following the rules). But in that video those soldiers are clearly armed and fair game on the battlefield.

You need big balls or a small brain to drive over the remnants of that bridge knowing that Ukraine can strike it at will, and that Russia can’t defend it.

There is no difference between armed and unarmed medics.
Medics are allowed to be armed for self-defense with a pistol or MP.
Orderlies can even wear a rifle.
You also can't intentionally target wounded.

All those 3 are protected by the Geneva convention.
So, you can't just drop a shrapnel bomb on the whole group, you can shoot at the front- and rearguard.

And yes, war crime is a little hyperbole from me, because "this war is the one with the worst war crimes ever in history" according to some online hot takes.
