My worry with this is that he would make it very racially focused, like a Jordan Peele show. Not really interested in that.

But if he had legit x-files ideas then I say go ahead.

If anything, the notion that we are in a simulation, or that there are aliens, flat earth, ancient civilizations, etc is even greater now thatn in the 90's.

Indeed, if someone else other than Chris Carter takes over X-Files, why, they might start resolving the 527,924 unresolved mysteries and questions that have been raised over the course of the original nine seasons and two revival seasons! And us X-Files fans prefer to be blue ball'ed in that regard for all eternity!

For real though, I feel Carter should have wrapped things up in the revival seasons, but instead just kept teasing the audience along like he did last time, and sure enough, cancelled.

A new showrunner could hopefully at least get the momentum going to a proper conclusion. And as long as Mulder and Scully are there, it will hardly be the worst X-Files we can get, after all, never forget:

Good X-files is very good, rubbish X-files is more common.

Why not just reboot it with new people doing new things and you don't have to bring along all the baggage from before.

fan here, loved the show and can't wait to rewatch the whole thing for a 3rd time with the daughter, I've currently got her into Supernatural (loved the xfile nod in the first episode) imo Carter fucked up the show in his last seasons that badly I couldn't even finish it, he also made some questionable decisions in the latter seasons and the whole thing bar some great episodes just went a bit meh but it's been years since I've seen them and I love the concept so a name like Ryan Coogler attached is a fucking wonderful thing, the man's talented so a modern take (without the modern audience shite) will be right up my street, definitely can't wait to hear more

I took that to mean yeah 1 of the 2 main characters will be black, no biggie in the slightest and today's audiences to mean updated with a modern look/feel that the last 2 seasons of the O.G. where severely lacking, I don't think we're gonna have pronouns ffs

I'm currently on my sixth run of the series and I'm not to sure bringing back the show for a modern audience is a good idea. Also without the original cast I won't even bother acknowledging a new season.

Really? With all the shit in the news about UAPs, AI etc? Xfiles is ripe for a comeback, I hope they bring back the original cast as well but they're too old to be running around in heels in a graveyard set, the show needs new blood and the original cast needs to be integrated into the storyline properly, not sure how big a fan of the show Coogler is, has he mentioned is before getting this gig?
