Sadness uses same engine as Oblivion? :O :O

They've only just finished choosing the engine?

theres no real reason to think that the deal wasn't done months ago and is only just being announced now for PR reasons, happens all the time

May, huh?

I really, truly want to believe that Nibris is real. The evidence we have so far though, hasn't been too encouraging.

Seriously, a Polish dev team who only develop for Nintendo systems? Something tells me that this isn't about ensuring efficiencies of scale during the coding process.

I mean, this is really well done. If it's just some Polish kids from DeviantArt having some fun, they're churning out some intriguing stuff.

We have 6 minutes footage of Raid Over The River Their DS game, which is too good to be a fake, maybe is a homebrew game? which I doubt too being to good to be one. That's the best evidence so far they are what they claim to be. But there's a lot of things which looks suspicious at least, why their website has no info in 1 fucking year? They continuosly delaying their games, whe don't know anything of ROTRT since...7/8 months, and they game seemed almost finished back then or at least very advanced on his development.

The strange PR like this, annuncing games using some devianart user work....

Well Guys, what if all this shit is real and nibris will be releasing a great game in 2009???
I don't know about you, but I'll try to spend the last remaining hours with my loved ones - maybe fervently praying to random deities.

ROTR has been given to another company

why is that so hard to believe, plenty of developers are fanboys too
Well this is true. It shouldn't be this way, but it's true. I just like to think that there are devs out there who have good business sense as well as creative talent. So far the artwork coming out of Nibris has been fantastic, so even if the story, gameplay and music all suck, it'll at least have an intriguing look.

Yes, I know that there are advantages (especially for small devs) to go system exclusive throughout a generation (economies of scale, steadily more project management processes, re-usable assets etc.), but something tells me that these reasons didn't weigh much into the decision-making process.

Still, these boys (if this is legit) are doing something extremely clever, but not for the reasons they think. They are addressing a market that has been completely underserved on Nintendo consoles. The best part is that they don't have any competitors in this niche, especially not Nintendo themselves. Hopefully, this market is large enough to sustain such an idea.

Assuming Nibris are real of course.

Someone please email Emergent and get to the bottom of this. The joke never gets old but I would like to know if there's a real game coming at some point.

Have done so. Should have an answer within 12 hours.

Now see, when I see footage like that, it gives me pause. I think that maybe, just maybe, Nibris is real, but the fact is that they're just a small startup with capital flow problems. Let's say they really do have trouble finding a publisher.

Maybe their stuff is really good with moneymaking potential but the guys running it are mortgaging their houses and eating noodles in order to keep the business going. Maybe they've had to halt development due to lack of funds. Maybe they've even sold an IP (ROtR) to keep afloat. Any number of these things could explain all the delays and inexplicable PR behaviour.

Awesome.

Though something tells me this won't end anything...

No, but the idiot NIBRiS defense force is growing smaller and smaller in numbers, and that's all that counts.

Stay tuned for the answer.

and to me that all sounds very probable

There's this as well:

"Nibris has confirmed a few details people might have been wondering about. Recently there was an announcement that 'The Bloober Team' is working hard on a new WiiWare title called 'Last Flight'. Included in the report, though, was mention of Nibris' two Nintendo DS projects, Double Bloob and ROTR, which caused some confusion.

According to the Polish outfit, The Bloober Team is not working with Nibris and is "right now apart from us". However, the pleasing vertical shooter ROTR and quaint puzzle effort Double Bloob have not actually been sold, despite mixed reports across the Internet. The Bloober Team does have the rights for both games, though, with Nibris focusing solely on Sadness for Wii at the moment.

Finally, if anyone was unsure whether or not Nibris had any involvement in the Last Flight project, then the simple answer was 'No'."

So ROTR and DB haven't been sold...

If Sadness (the more I hear the name the worse it sounds) ever actually comes out I'll think about considering getting it to reward their perseverance, if it doesn't suck.

That's from the scene where you have to murder everyone in the house. Love that part.

Someone please follow up on the engine because this is our time to catch them dead in their weasely little tracks.

Nibris broke my hearth twice: the never released trailer and the steal artwork fron silent hill (IIRC), there no reason why I should believe in its lies anymore.

Also, Children of the Night (the one people keep talking about in terms of stolen artwork) has also been confirmed as 'only an idea', with the company solely focusing on Sadness.

God, I can't believe this joke is still running!
Is there a way to make money with organising a hoax like this? Getting paid for interviews? Ad revenu from site visitors? ....

After you (if I remember right) was forced to confirm after releasing a press release from Nibris coming across as otherwise.

Not my fault. The head of the company apologised to me about that as I was fed incorrect info, simple as that. It was an internal idea that seemingly never got past the conception stage.

There are plenty more Sadness screenshots...but nothing can be revealed yet. Joyous.

Duke Nukem Forever, Sadness, and Alan Wake will all be released in an Orange Box-type compilation; around the same time the large hadron collider is scheduled to be activated.
