I wonder: how the hell stuff like this happens? This isn't some computer generated thing - someone must have deliberately draw it that way. And even if it's a transition frame, it's still weird and once you notice it, you can see that it looks out of place even during the animation.
Those are inbetween frames, they are intentionally drawn like that and not noticeable in motion. It's neither a mistake nor is it bad art.

I think Crystals biggest problem at the moment is the wait between episodes, it's so serialized that the episodes can hardly stand on their own, it worked during the early part of the arc when each episode focused on a senshi but now it feels like they hacked a movie into pieces.
Crystal is one of those shows that will be appreaciated more if people can binge it imo.

The problem was that I DID notice it in motion, which is why I screenshotted that frame.

For whatever reason it was noticeable when it shouldn't have been, that's definitely a mistake.
I'm usually not the kind of person who examines it closely enough to notice stuff like that either.

Recycled animations for the Senshi attacks again, YAY (Venus's might've been new? Not sure).
It wasn't, she used the exact same animation back when she did a combo attack with Tuxedo Mask against the twins when they went to the future for the first time.

That gif has a few seconds of well-animated hair, then one messed-up frame, then ten very fast standalone well-drawn frames of Chibimoon doing a quick turn which have no flow and don't imply movement, and then it goes back to well-animated hair.

The scene literally jumps from this...

...to this...

...in one frame, with no attempt to "animate" (beyond showing a series of pretty pictures in order).

If they wanted to imply fast movement in that one frame (and none of the other frames), they could've drawn a smear.

The messed-up frame is messed up in the same way Toei keeps messing up occasional frames (no sense of scale or perspective) since Sailor Muhrs in the opening credits of the first episode (and fixed for the Blu ray along with a bunch of other fixes when Toei eventually gets around to looking at quality control).

Yeah, this arc has been going on for months.

Busy weekend, so I finally got to watch it. Great episode! Animation was definitely much better in most of it. Can't wait to watch through on blu ray with everything fixed up (a bit more). If they only had the budget to keep up with the rest of the show. It's kind of like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, which boasted having "near cinema quality" yet still had episodes in between with a BIG dip in quality, to the point where it looked like 2 different shows! Second Gig was especially prone to this, with some VERY good quality and tons of detail like in the hair and eyes, to the point of Makoto looking like someone just traced her basic form :/ Got really bad. So I mean, it's definitely not just Toei, but it still sucks!

Bring on Crystal 2/Diamond/whatever they want to call it! Time to see the Outers! I just hope they announce it soon. Although I wonder if it would be at an event, or teased at the end of the last ep?

It's so weird not having new Sailor Moon to look forward to again.
Haven't felt like this since February 1997.

Anyhow, we got a "see you soon". That's something, right?

Seems like they are setting up for Infinity somewhere down the line.

"pluto dead cuz of me"
"shit happens"

"queen shouldn't we go help and be of some semblance of use and importance to this show?"
"lol no"

I will say that one thing I liked of Crystal over the original was Chibi-Usa. Her design, voice, characterization mostly, and senshi design were all better here IMO.

Death Phantom also looked awesome

She singlehandedly killed the show imo (since SuperS had the worst ratings of all the seasons and she was practically the main character there).

As it was in the manga "Dreams" arc, which was pretty hard to read through. Heilos has always sucked.

Really enjoyed that episode. it was nice to see the future cast meet the past unlike in the original anime where we barely got a glimpse of the future guardians.

I look forward to a possible second season of Crystal... and hope that they don't do this 2 episodes a month thing again (please no ;_; )

Unless David Production swoops in and does S / SS like JJBA can we just not?

It's clear Toei just can't hack anything for trying when it doesn't involve Precure (and maybe DB) so let's just cut our losses whilst the going's good.

What I thought was funny was the whole; 'We can't meet our past/future selves because it would change history'.

First of all; didn't Death Phantom and his gang already change history by going back to the past. Not to mention Chibiusa going back as well. I think that ship has already sailed.

Secondly; LET ME BESTOW UPON YOU THE UPGRADES! So giving the scouts new powers and sailor moon a new broach and junk doesn't change the past, but actually meeting your future/past self would?

Thought that was funny.

It's time-cop rules; Multiple Copies of the same Mass can exist in the same time period but if it comes into physical contact then things get...unpleasant.

See also; Diamond being a jackass and trying to bring the two silver crystals together.

It being incomplete bothers me more.
I'm happier when a disaster isn't total.

Well Seiya was nicer to her than Mamoru ever was. The truth hurts.
Asking a woman who's suffering a complete breakdown because she realises her boyfriend is dead if you're not good enough punts you pretty high up the Arsehole Olympics rankings.

I mean, honestly, people pile on Mamrou for the shit he pulled in R and let's not mince words, whilst the intent (Ensure Usagi's Safety) was in of it self not an issue, it was a really bad way of handling things and the series really needed a touch-up to make Mamrou not come off as a complete ass during that time (If that's even possible, Usagi is the POV character and it's all a bit Harry and the Slytherins right then) but any other point the dood's fair enough. Hell the worst thing he does after all that is forget her birthday but she didn't tell him that so that's a bit of a wash.

Half the time Mamoru barely seems to even notice she's there. Seiya at least dotes on her. I think Usagi is too in the Teenager In Love phase with him(even though it obviously pans out, uh, sort of).

Finally finished this.

It was alright. Probably would have been more interested in this if there wasn't such a wait in-between episodes.

Yesssss! Was goping that was the news for the bump :p Ket's hope the animation gets fixed this time...

Also, what does the 3 stand for?

Huh, that's a surprise!

I'm not worried about the animation. The original show looked bad at times too, so I'm kinda used to it. Shame about the music though. I thought it was kinda bland in the first two seasons of Crystal.
