Episode 5

Worst episode yet. Typical shounen environment challenge crap with lessons of friendship and shit. But that's not what made me go insane. It was the eyes. The eyes of DOOM. This is the worst character art in an episode of anime I've seen this season so far. All the characters had huge eyes and static expressions for the entire episode. Yuna was the worst. She had the largest eyes they could draw on her face, and it was totally static. She didn't blink or move her eyes once. It was like watching a zombie anime. Scene after scene of the SAME dead expression with no eye movement or animation or blinking. There were quite a few of these scenes too where they would close up on her face and she would talk for long enough that it becomes very noticeable that the eyes are dead. Maybe they should have kept her mask on if they were going to do this shit. :P

Why were people saying this episode was like classic Saint Seiya? Meh. Very meh. I'm getting tired of this and Loopawn.

Hopefully we get 3 episodes in a row written by Yoshida or something. Out of 6 episodes, she only wrote 2 (at least they're the best episodes so far, I guess)!

1: Yoshida
2: Soul Eater/Heroman guy; AKA: Akatsuki Slowtoya
3: Yoshida
4: Random Toei guy
5: Random Toei guy
6: Slowtoya again

Bros sacrificing for one another must be reminding people of the 12 zodiac temples arc.

I particularly did not like the episode, it was completely predictable. Plus I hate these generic forests that somehow always manage to look the same in any anime they appear.

The cosmo draining effect in the forests looked good for them. I liked the glacier and river portion. It wasnt that predictable

Kouga almost left Souma behind

Here i though I was the only one creeped out by umakoshi eyes

too much sparkle/triangle refection in there eyes makes wonder where the light source is coming from(same thing heartache precure art).

I don't why everyone has two triangles on the right hand side and a circle on the top left of there eyes.

And again, Pegasus
Lost another battle ... this time against the glacier ! xD

This episode kinda reminds me of the Sagitarius temple in Zodiac arc ... it also had the running to get from point A to point B feeling.

And next episode looks like the anime will finaly start !

I want BLOOD !!!!

When does this become Heartcatch? and by that I mean when does this anime become AMAZING!

I'm gonna keep watching but other shows like Space Brothers or Sakamichi no Apollon are a million times better.

The show just needs more episodes like 3. (Yoshida+Matsumoto team plz work more)

This episode had Akira Takahashi eyes, not Umakoshi eyes.

They're the exact same type as eyes the original show had.

you right must be some shoujo sparkle eye thing i don't get.

the creepest eyes are that girl from heartache the yellow one with twin tails (haven't watched heartache but seen her pic a few times)

I don't really hate the show; I actually find all the characters enjoyable and I have no problems with the school setting or the other changes to the mythos. I just disliked the pacing of episodes 2, 4 and 5. Episodes 1 and 3 are a real notch above the rest in terms of direction and overall tone, too; you can really tell the Yamauchi inspiration in them. The show just needs more of that "magical mood" and less "numbering elements one by one".

Episode 4

Ryuho is such an asshole, there were a million ways for his plan to go wrong.

I liked this episode quite a bit even though the ending made my blood boil, Kouga should have given Ryuho a punch at the end.

Episode 6

The art is getting ugglier as time goes on (wtf was those megaman eyes for pegasus's enemy ?) .... and still no signs of blood ... i'm loosing my hopes =/

The episode was interesting, but sounded more like a filler than the other episodes ... more element stuff and some strange parts like
how they got all impressed that the new dude destroyed his enemy with one blow .... yet pegasus did exactly the same (he FINALY won a fight ! xD)

Also, loved the new dude's crazy hair ... SO 80's anime that is even funny xD

Why are you expecting blood?

And yeah, this is a 50ish episode Toei series, expect a fair amount of episodes with offmodel art.

Also, this scene was on one of the first episodes of the original series

AN EAR !!! BLOOOOOOOOOODDDD !!!!

For me Blood is almost as important to Saint Seiya than Armors =/
You could FEEL shiryu's dedication and self sacrifice by the waterfalls of blood (bloodfalls ?) that appeared when he healed those armors =|

I thought it would have been obvious from the first episode that SSO wasn't going to be a bloody series.

Also, the fact that blood is just as important as armor to you doesn't speak well of the original, if that's what made it stand out.

Well ... armors aren't THAT important to me to the series ... but still =P

Also, anyone found strange that was like "OMFG THE ONE I CARED WAS PULVERIZED !!!!" and then ... lets go to school and don't worry and wait till appears a tourney and stuff ?

I mean .. how about the villain ?
He just took a vacation ?

If I was him the moment I knew that there was a chance of someone I miss being at a place, I would RUSH to that place in 4 seconds =P

edit :

Always wonder if the hetero dudes who makes friend zone jokes like this would totaly let the first big male hairy muscled policeman who save then if they get kidnapped fuck then ....

On a related note, theoricaly in that image he didn't saved her from saga, he saved her from this dude xD

But it has been confirmed by multiple people to him that Athena is safe, and that he isn't able to get to the temple at this point, so it isn't quite as absurd as it would be if Athena was completely missing.

Episode 6
tumblr_m3m4b7aaHe1r1n5pqo1_500.gif

Some of the characters are of random things dealing with the heavens, Hook of the Compass? Really? Eden of Orion was interesting but they give him such a terrible personality. Yuna still feels like a pointless addition on the main crew, cheerleader? Otherwise episode was good, two of the music pieces were nice, one played during the introduction to the Saint Fight and then the one that plays when a character does something epic, like an instrumental of the theme.

Surprised Souma won so fast though with so much damage. Will be tough for him next episode when to face Kouga, which I thought would have happened later, am conflicted on who I want to win as I wanted them both to advance :/ They offer each other support so they ought to have placed their fight further in the tourney

Episode 6

Wow that was terrible. Super ugly and lazy episode. They even created some reason for us not to see Souma's fight so they didn't have to animate it.

So I've been watching lost canvas because all the good Gold Saints fights, I am not convinced but I find the story ok, I have a problem how the mouths and lips are drawn, I dunno I find them somehow wierd, I still prefer the original Saint Seiya; anyways now I find out that Lost Canvas is not canon and Saint Seiya Omega is not canon either and that Kurumada has a manga with the real continuation and official canon after the Hades Chapter that is called "Saint Seiya Next Dimesion" WTF!
I didn't know Saint Seiya had all this "what if's" and alternate stories animated but the real real canon and continuation of Hades done by the man himself hasn't been animated.
da fuck, is there any place I can buy the Saint Seiya next dimension mangas in English? any plans of animating this?

Are you sure Lost Canvas isn't canon? I mean yeah, it's by a different author, but Kurumada sent her a general outline of the plot.

Also, the Hades arc wasn't the last one in the original series. There was one more that was only partially animated in a movie called Heaven Chapter - Overture.

Next Dimension supposedly retcons this movie. But Saint Seiya canon is a huge mess IMO.

That's the thing, it seems that was the idea but they came to a disagreement and Kurumada is doing his own manga which is a continuation and a prequel at the same time and Kurumada's interpretation of the ancient holy war against Hades in his new manga is already way different to the events showed in Lost Canvas, different gold saints, new characters, different battles and deaths; heck even original Shun is there thanks to time travel.

that movie never had a manga but I think it was Kurumada's original story and what he had in mind back in the day to continue the canon Saint Seiya story, however I don't know why he (or the studio) didn't want to continue that arc and since it didn't have a manga on what was based on I don't really know how to treat it.

There was a very short promotional manga.

Apparently, Kurumada's original idea got modified quite a bit, and he wasn't exactly thrilled with the end result.

Saint seiya omega ep 2

This is clearly targeted at someone that's never scene a quality shounen or it's there first shounen, it's run of mill by the book and full of very common tropes.

Oh look they added some pokemon elements stuff maybe it's away to not have saints that fight use violent weapons like wires to straggle saints with.

I can't stand the whole main character is the chosen one with the light element and all he needs to do is whine hard enough for him to turn the tables in a fight, some gurren laggan type bull shit.

Saint seiya omega ep 3

Better then last episode thanks to it having some decent amount of content(not being made of padding of nothing) and being better looking, not bad but not good enough just decent.

I wouldn't call that a fight it was just an excuse to have the female saint get over the mask thing giving us an introduction and some development for her.

Saint seiya canon being a mess is a fact.

Definitely better than 6 (not hard to accomplish) but, really, they should just have made the show about Yuna. ( ´_ゝ`)

I guess you could just watch HeartCatch again. :(

though Yuna doesn't seem like any of the characters from HC, to be honest.

EP 7

The show finaly looks to be starting ... the fight was awesome, even if without shattering armors the blows fell less powerfull, specialy after the flashback.

The next episode has lots of potential ...
even a gold saint ! =O
And yeah, the razor floss (warning tv troopes) will suck without some blood ... I mean .. even RANMA had blood with it (wow that dubbing SUX) !
[/obrigatory no blood rant]

Episode 7
tumblr_m3zjexjDNh1r2mrslo1_500.png

I wasnt ready for the matchup, it was too hard to decide who to cheer on. I like both Souma and Kouga and wanted them both to succeed even. It was actually really epic of a fight and even had the instrumental Pegasus Fantasy come on which pumped me up.
Souma did his best but again he found himself at a loss. Hopefully Kouga inspired him to practice and grow stronger so that he too can become a strong Saint!.

Yuna still seems to be a useless deadweight
though her opponent was a random fodder, she honestly struggled against him...
, her transformation sequence is the worst of the bunch, what kind of pose was that.

Agree that ep7 > ep6, but I keep thinking that this show needs some sakuga fights like naruto. It would be awesome it it sudendly doubles the animation quality, but also brings blood, at least for just a moment. Now that will be something.

That's going to be episode 10. Didn't duckroll post about it a while ago? Episode 10 is by the Umakoshi/MatsuRie team.
