I've played SR2 for at least 10 hours and haven't seen any tearing.

I've seen it once on the 360 when I blew alot of fools up .. other than that, silky smooth.

Edit The framerate does dip from time to time though ...

How can GTAIV be the better game when Saints Row 2 is more fun?

Don't we all play for fun?
Have you actually read game threads in GAF?

Anyway, finally saw the pilot suicide at the cemetery that you were talking about. For the unknowing, sometimes a pilot will jump out of a plane without a 'chute and land right into one of the open gaves in the cemetary. :lol

Yeah i've had that happen once or twice while doing the mayhem activity.

Multiple satchel charges laid all over the place.:lol

Why in the world would you link to a YouTube video that, even in "high res" mode, looks like a PS2 game and say the graphics look fine? Whoever captured and uploaded that should be embarrassed.

It was mostly for the load times, not the graphics.

This minigame ranks up there with the best.

I vote.... no. :/
So, do I win?

Anyway, after 40-ish hours, I've just "discovered" drive by diversions. No clue how I've never seen or had the activation prompt before. :lol

You guys must not be playing co-op, your experiences are so happy and joyful. My experience with the game has been nothing but co-op hell. Lockup after frustrating lockup. My buddy and me play about an hour or two a night and the games will freeze atleast 3 times a night. I am not exaggerating. We both have cleared our caches, tried with and without the patch. Nothing works! And if we get on a lucky streak and are able to finish a mission or two without the entire 360 freezing we have the pleasure of getting stuck in cars or other crazy bugs that have us restarting missions!

I've played pretty much co-op exclusively and we're at the end, haven't had a single lockup....

Online? If so, check your (or his) router and NAT settings. About a third of my playtime has been co-op with a variety of people and there's only one guy who I've had the system lock-up on me. Every other time has been fine, but I've had 3 freezes with him over a three hour span in the one time we've played.

No SP freezes at all, FYI.

Both machines' connection tests returns open.

We play co-op games on the 360, great way to keep in touch with long distance friends, and this will be the only game we can't finish. Mercenaries 2 was no where near a mess as this is, sadly.

Alright, my earlier initial impressions of sometimes janky controls, ugly graphics and jumpy framerate still stand, but the game's growing on me with its general fun-ness. There's a certain charm with grabbing and tossing innocent unsuspecting fishermen off a pier into the water.

I would like to switch to the PS3 version, however, due to the dualshock3 being easier to handle with my sweaty palms, can someone with experience of the PS3 version tell me whether the controls are okay and how much harddrive space the install takes up? I've watched some youtube footage of the PS3 version in action and it looks like it keeps up with the 360 version just fine.

Controls are fine for me. Install is 3.8GB.

I love watching all the civilian interactions with the police. Its so funny just to watch them get beaten down by police, and then the police get swarmed by a mob of gang members. Its kind of like the hilarious AI in Oblivion.

go to
the police station in the old saints row district

You can actually do this mission whenever you want, as I did it in the middle of the game

So I decide to shoot one of the oxygen tanks that the old men sometimes drag around behind them to breathe.

Turns out it's explosive. :D

Do I have to do something to unlock the epilogue/extra missions??
What mission? the Julius one?

Go to the
Saints Row Police dept and search for the Detective's office. Listen to the wire taps in order and then go into Troy's office (right in the back of the Det office) and grab the file.
Then follow the intructions from there.

I've played about 10 hours in co-op, not one lock-up. In single player it did lock up on me once and I've only played that for one hour or so :/

Pretty cool spot, I found the mask and a skull. My guy could pick them both up as environmental weapons, but no other interactions.

As far as I could tell when you pick the mask up it turns into the skull after a couple seconds. The two aren't separate items.

Seriously...owned this since last week and I've only been able to successfully join one fucking game...one

Evidently other people are experiencing this as well and thus far Volition has made no statements (>__<)

I got about 6 hours in yesterday on the PS3 version...I didn't see any problems. The overwhelming feeling is great, and the missions are pretty fun so far. The radio stations aren't that bad, and I was surprised to see Opeth on Krunch.

GTAIV looks much better, and is more well made than this, but this is just as fun. I'll probably be saying it's more fun after I complete it. I loved the first game and this one delivers even more!

Why do people have to qualify their praise of the game with negatives? I don't know how many times I've read some variation of "the graphics sux/are worse than GTAIV/has bad breath but I like it anyway" can't someone just like the game without feeling the need to tear it down first?

If you're commenting on the game, you should comment on all aspects of it. Or do you want nothing but unending praise for the game and never a mention of the flaws? People who comment want it to be known they are not blindly praising the game but commenting on it's strengths and weaknesses.

The graphics do suck. They are worse than GTA IV. It has bad breath. I love it anyway.

It's the "I love it anyway" that I dislike. As if it's impossible to just like the game. Of course someone should comment on the good and the bad. However that doesn't mean that every positive must be qualified by a negative.

"I like the game. It doesn't look as good as GTA." is not qualitatively the same thing as "It doesn't look as good as GTA however I like the game anyway."

It definitely doesn't look as good as GTA, but it looks better than Mercenaries 2 and doesn't suck like that game. Although Mercenaries 2 is more destructible, everything about that game turned me off to it despite liking the first one. Although Saint's Row 2 isn't as good to look at as GTAIV, (especially at night in a rainstorm) if you adjust the gamma/brightness it can look pretty decent. And the wealth of shit to do in the game coupled with the crazy AI make this game waay more fun for me than GTA's failed attempt at Scorceseism. I'll be playing this game long after the glut of games coming up is over.

GTA is the lord of the sandbox genre and must be paid it's dues.

Cans someone who has played SR1 compared graphics to SR1 and not GTA ? on both xbox and Ps3 ?

It looks much better than Saints Row 1, I replayed it before SR2 came out.

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?
Finished single player up with 75%. Damn, what a ride. Game kept me engaged throughout, unlike a certain other sandbox game :)

Overall, my fave were the ronin missions with
actual swordplay. Sure, it was a bit corny, but at the same time, it was epic, kill bill style.

Too bad there's no obvious setup for Saints Row III.

Out of curiosity, which activity unlocks unlimited submachinegun ammo? It's the only one I couldn't find besides rockets or grenades, which I wouldn't assume have unlimited unlocks.

Have about 12 hours into the 360 version right now...so much to do great fun. Only one lockup too on insurance fraud mission.

I have unlimited SMG ammo...I think its the escort activity you need to accomplish. It is the one where you have to save the hos from the pimps.

Hey everyone,

I had a quick question about how online play works regarding the player joining the game.

1. So if I have already completed say 3 levels of an activity in my game and I finish the last 3 with a friend in co-op, does my friend get the "6 levels" completed reward and what not?

2. If I'm farther ahead in the story missions than my friend say for Ronin, and we complete a mission that my friend hasn't done yet, does heunlock everything that I unlock and get it counted as completed? Then when my friend gets up to that point in the story on his mission, he can just skip it?

Thanks!

No, he'll get credit for finishing 3 of them (if he hasn't done any yet). So he'll get the half way reward.

2. If I'm farther ahead in the story missions than my friend say for Ronin, and we complete a mission that my friend hasn't done yet, does heunlock everything that I unlock and get it counted as completed? Then when my friend gets up to that point in the story on his mission, he can just skip it?
Yeah, he gets whatever respect and money owed. And yes, when he reaches that point in his game he can just skip it if he likes.

Downtown Level 6 Snatch.

No, he doesn't. But he does get credit for the 3 you did do together.

He will get credit for completing the missions, but won't get any of the unlocks until he gets to that point on his own game, or you go through co-op the levels you already did with him.

For example I helped my buddy finish the final 2 Samedi missions, he got all the unlocks, but I did not. Then when I finished the mission just before the final 2 I got all the Samedi unlocks and the achievment.

Wow, I didn't even know you could buy businesses. Is there a way on the map to see what businesses are available or do you just check each one?

Okay, cool. Thanks! So if we started on the 4th level (I already did 1,2,3), he'd get credit for 4, 5, and 6 and have to finish 1,2,3 on his own?

Thanks again!

if you move your pointer over a business on the map, it will say if you own it.
