Sorry if this has already been asked 500 times.

But I'm ready to try out Android, and was going to pick up the S5. However, T-Mobile offered me a sweet deal on the S4 over the phone, and it sure is tempting.

Is the S4 still a good phone? I don't need top-of-the-line specs, as long as the phone isn't showing its age in a any major way.

The S4 is showing it's age. Spend the extra bucks for the S5. Waterproof and camera are big improvements over S4.

GS4 is still pretty good. how sweet is the deal?\

On a 2 year contract? Bad deal. I sold my S4 about a month ago for $275 and my OPO is a huge improvement over it speed wise. Also the S4 screen started to be much dimmer than when I bought it. Not sure if it loses it's color over time or what, but I definitely wouldn't take that deal at the moment. On the plus side you could install google edition roms.

Not a contract. It's T-Mobile. Basically 60 bucks upfront, and a little less than half the price of the phone overall.

So what would be the total payments for the phone? Performance is hurting on the phone compared to more recent phones if you do any gaming or run more intensive apps. The main thing I liked about was running a google edition rom. Battery life isn't as good and screen isn't as good. How long would you plan to keep it?

Why is this phone so amazing? The battery is so fucking good and the charging is extremely fast. I'm in love.

Got my Note 4 today, first thing i did was change the look and feel of it, i think Samsung put to much crap on it. Apart from that the phone is amazing.

Ok, so I have a rather complicated question. I am trying to decide between the Nexus 6, the Droid Turbo, and the Galaxy Note 4. The only problem is the former two phones won't be released for a while, but I have until 10/22 for the verizon galaxy note 4 promotion.

- Is there any way I can buy the note 4 on 10/22 and use it for 14 days, and then (hopefully the nexus 6 and turbo will be out by then) decide to either keep it or return it?

- I know the verizon refund policy says you can return any smartphone within 14 days, but I am wondering how this complicates the samsung $200 promotion. How would one return the money from that promotion?

- Would doing all of this from Best Buy be better?

This is all so complicated that I probably won't do it, but I am just wondering if anyone could offer some insight.

I am still customizing right now.

I bought the Galaxy Note 4 (upgraded from Galaxy S2).

Also where is the search and menu button. I already miss the 4 button layout on the old Androids. *sigh*. I guess, I'll get used to this.

I had a 100% charge sometime around 2 PM today.

Since then, I've played some games, downloaded a bunch of shit, taken pictures/video, used the flashlight (had to take the dog out and it's dark) while playing a game, and listened to the most recent Bombcast (at max volume, for science!). Also have a game/widget that's basically always running in the background.

Here we are 10+ hours later and I'm at 24% battery. For real, this battery is incredibly good.

Those of you who've seen them in the wild, which one looks better? Black or white?

And regarding this, I really like the look of the white one (hence why I preordered it). The black is not bad, but the white is really sleek.

You know, I'm gonna rock the default Touchwiz launcher for a week to see if it doesn't annoy me. So far, it's neat and fast.

On the Best Buy trade-in page, what options did you select for your model? I marked Good condition and Yes on the reset code question, and it gave my Galaxy S3 (Pebble Blue Sprint) a value of $45. Saying No to the code question gives it a $0 value, so it's apparently a huge deal, but I'm not sure what it really means.

I also called my Best Buy twice and asked if I would be able to walk in a few days after the release, and they said the deal will still be going on for about a week. (I'm going in tomorrow.) If you're serious about it, you should definitely call or visit a store and ask them about your chances.

The phone I traded in was worth $0 on their site, but they took it. They said to me while there that as long as it worked, it was a qualified trade for the promotion.

If you are able to get the Best Buy deal, I say do it.

Same here. I'd really like to get nova again and change the grid size of the home screens but I'll hold off.

settling on a very minimal case is my next objective.

For those of you really bothered with the Bloatware, you can now "disable" those apps and it removes them from the app tray.

Gamechanger.

Reactions when people use this phone:

- Damn that thing is huge
- *picks up phone
- Damn this screen is ridiculous
- The operating system is smooth
- Well now it doesn't feel that big, its fine in my hands.
- I want this phone

The only thing I was worried about with this phone was the size. When walking out of Best Buy I put it in my pocket, got in the car and didn't notice any difference in feel in my pocket over my Galaxy S4. I got a text, took it out of my pocket with no problem. One-hand texted the person back (at a red light of course.) I can even pull down the notification menu with one hand.

I can't get over how much I love this phone.

Now to take my first drawing lesson with the free app from the link I posted above.

Oh yeah... its been over 25 hours since charging. Sitting at 15% battery.

First day with the battery, I charged it to 80% before I headed out and was mostly on LTE the majority of the day with a little WiFi at home. Got 17 hours and 7 hours of on screen time with 8% left. I'm impressed.

Here what happened. First of all, the phone is for my sister. Me, my sister and my brother, we are all on the verizon share everything plan, paid for by my brother.

On the samsung website, it said that the trade-in-value of the phone needs to be at least $10. To verizon, the old smartphone isn't worth that much(i checked their trade-in site). So we said tough luck, my sister just went ahead and ordered it (Without a discount) from verizon store, the bill came out to be $350 after everything.

Now i found out that best buy doesn't have the >= $10 requirement. So we are in bit of a jam now. Probably gonna try to cancel the Verizon order and than go to the bestbuy store and get their offer..its a long stretch but it will save a lot of money so i am gonna give it a shot. Bestbuy said i can still get the offer if i go the store on monday.

So who here has purchased it off contract and gotten the promo? I'm going to be real pissed if BB screws me over next week. Bad enough I have to pricematch Verizon because they hiked the price up.

Huh, that's interesting. Tomorrow I was planning to drive up to the Best Buy 30 miles away on less than half a tank of gas and get the $200 credit with about $129 in my bank account. I don't get my paycheck until next Saturday and I've got several bills coming up, so I've been a bit stressed constantly thinking about not having anything left. With this news, I could just coast the rest of the week and pop up to Best Buy next Sunday. Thanks for the info, man.

EDIT: And we have to wipe our phones beforehand? My S3 is Sprint so I don't have a SIM card, so will I have to get a microSD? I guess I could just back up my phone data to my computer, but having a card ready to go would have been more convenient. What happens if your phone isn't wiped?

I don't think it applies to off contract phones.

Here's the small print:

I read that but many of us have gotten different answers from stores and even store managers. Mine said it was ok for off contract. Just wanted to know if anyone off contract actually got in on the deal.
