Saudi Arabia to sue anyone who compares their justice system to ISIS

The sentence has provoked widespread condemnation, not only from international human rights organisations but also from legions of Twitter and other social media users.
Bohoo, I'm sure that changed a lot.

One is terror organization, one is a despotic monarchy which sponsor terror organizations. These two things are obviously not the same, but their internal justice system are more or less identical though.

it makes me laugh that they think they can enforce their control of speech outside their backwards ass kingdom of cruelty

How out of touch are they to think this is a good idea?
Don't they know that telling anyone not to do something will more often than not get them to do it? ESPECIALLY Internet Communities?

He's not an apostate.

According to Fayadh, the complaint came as a result of a dispute with another artist. The artist maintains that the book being referred to is about his life as a Palestinian refugee and "cultural and philosophical issues". He believes that "religious extremists" have twisted the message to portray it as a book of "destructive ideas against God".

Fayadh has denied blasphemy and insisted he is a faithful Muslim. He said he does not have legal representation and has been given 30 days to appeal the sentence.

The dude is rightfully calling out extremists and radicals for high-jacking Islam for their own gain.

This reminds of of that Bengali blogger who got killed for supposedly being Athiest, when in fact he was just a secular Muslim.

Saudi Arabia is looking for an excuse to kill the dude and have made up these accusations against him due to his criticism of radical Islam in the region, which has its roots in the Kingdom.

Sentenced to death for renouncing one’s faith? For fucks sake.

It's sad that homosexuality and murder are in the same category.

Raif Badawi is a blogger who is jailed for ''making comments'' about religion and is sentenced to 1000 lashes and is jailed for an undetermined amount of time

OP is missing a "sentence me to 100 lashes if old" sentence:

ISIS' system of justice is actually less extreme, all things considered

Unfortunately Saudi Arabia is not the only country in the region that does this, countries that have a legal system based on Sharia law do this or similar. Some countries have less severe punishments but are still really bad like in Pakistan being imprisoned for same-sex sexual activity.

I can't believe the United States are allies with the country that extreme Islam originates from.

The alliance predate the extreme wahabbism turn of the country. If anything, the country radicalizated because it was going too much in the direction of the west and that irritated a lot of people still living in tents in the desert way too much. It's an interesting topic and SA right now is the main cause of the expansion of wahabbism, but i wouldn't place too much weight on the Saudi royals for the radicalization to be honest.

To be fair, poets, much like mimes, are the enemy of all free and godly patriots.

Perhaps it would be slightly excessive to execute them though.

The entire basis of the Saudi government from inception was that that the Al-Sauds were in charge of wordly affairs while the Wahhabis got to be in charge of the official faith.

Is there some Saudi official with a Twitter anyone knows of? Would love to remind them that their justice system is just as bad if not worse than ISIS in a public space. Come at me Saudi judicial system

Huh.

For years, other nations and credible organizations/activists have pointed out SA's repeated human rights violations and barbaric laws. In response, SA basically gave zero fucks by telling everyone not to meddle in the affairs of the kingdom. But now this, a mere comparison with ISIS by nobodies on social media, is what causes rustled jimmies?

Basically, as noted earlier:
The Saudi doth protest too much, methinks.

To be fair our system is really fucked.

I think we incarcerate more people than any other country.

That said our crucifixation and stoning game are nowhere near what they have in Saudi Arabia.

I'd rather incarcerate people than cut their hands and legs off just cause they stole something.

If you read a bit on SA history, you see how the islamist scholars constantly criticized the kingdom for being too close to the west and stirred constant infighting inside it, arriving at even killing people in a large-scale terrorist attack inside the holy Mecca.

It's amazing how much of a forgotten/unknown event this is.

Glad to see there's a hashtag already.

Maybe they'll be too busy trying to sue all the westerners they won't have time to needlessly execute anyone.

Well Saudi Arabia is in charge of the human rights council after all.
This just confuses me. Just... how did they get nominated and then put up for that position?

What is going on? It's like this country just gets a free pass on everything because of...something.
