Saudi Arabia to sue anyone who compares their justice system to ISIS

Getting stoned to death sounds like a really terrible way to die. How does that even work once they determine your sentence? Is there an official "stoning room" they take you to where executioners hurl rocks at you?

They bury you outside into the sand so that only your head and the upper half of your torso are exposed. Then a mob of lunatics throws stones at you until you die from your injuries.

Basically the only difference between the two, is that the US recognises one of the states and even considers it an ally.

Can anyone actually explain to me why the west sees Saudi Arabia as such a massive ally that can't be touched? Is it really as simple as oil? Surely with the crash in prices and the ramping up in fracking/oil drilling in the US that would weaken the demand for Saudi oil?

It is intelligence? Apparently a lot of intelligence from terror plots come from SA, but then a lot of plots originate from there in the first place so is it not counter-productive to let them harbour terrorists to then let the west know of some of the plots that have been happening?

Is it arms sales? Is too much money at stake if we cut ties with SA?

Is it all just self interest?

1. Oil.

2. They're the arch enemy of the radical shia regime of Iran and helped in deterring it's influence in the middle east. Iran as a country, cannot be trusted. I don't hate Iranians, but that doesn't mean I like their government.

Wow...

I wonder if this will ever change someday.

Well it has been the same for centuries, so it might take a while.

A 'nice' detail : the size of the stone used in stoning shall not be too large to kill the convict by one or two throws and at the same time shall not be too small to be called a stone

So no bricks and pebbles. It has to hurt like hell but shouldn't be over too quick.

Wouldn't 80 or 100 lashes kill you anyway?
Somebody from KSA I think mentioned the lashes aren't meant to be especially painful, more humiliating. There might've been a video too. It was the last thread where somebody was sentenced to a lot of lashes. Or maybe the one before.

If Saudi Arabia is so concerned about the image of their justice system shouldn't they be doing a better job at distinguishing themselves from ISIS rather than threatening with lawsuits? Have they even made any effort in the fight against ISIS? Or they still having Yemen bombed?

BS because the lashing are known to last a couple of sessions... unless its for the health of the lasher's shoulders or something

Since the Iranian revolution in 1979, US officials have had the simplistic world view that the enemies of their enemies are their friends. So they bounded with Sunni powers like Saudi Arabia. Some have still not realized that a major force behind contemporary Jihadism is Sunni Wahhabism.

And oil and business relations of course...

This country needs to fucking get with the times. Will never set my foot in these kinds of backward countries.

They wouldn't even let you if you wanted. Getting a visa for Saudi Arabia is hard.

OP is missing a "sentence me to 100 lashes if old" sentence:

ISIS's exile for adultery sound too good to be true!

From a pure foreign policy perspective, Saudi Arabia is far more trustworthy and less aggressive to the west than Iran.

From an ideology perspective, they're just as bad as Iran.

???

Iran involves itself in regional politics/terrorists (Hezbollah). Saudi Arabia involves itself with international terrorists. ISIS, Al-Qaeda, the Taliban etc. get a lot of support from Saudis. Not from Iran. How the heck is Saudi more trustworthy and less aggressive?

How the hell was Saudi Arabia elected chair of the UN Human Rights Council? Incomprehensible and despicable. Fucking medieval-ass countries. I don't know what else to add. I wonder how long will it be until that area leaves the dark ages. Are we talking centuries here?

Saudis =/= the Saudi government.

There is no evidence suggests that the Saudi Government directly supports ISIS. Many Saudis do, but not their government. Now, if you have evidence that suggests otherwise, I'm interested in seeing it.

You do realize that's a bit of a dodge right? Considering that plenty of terrorism supporters are members of the ruling family. And that the money the Saudi terrorism supporters get comes directly from the oil wealth that the government pays out to them.

At the very very best the Saudi government is being incredibly negligent by not stymieing the massive flow of support and money that goes from Saudi Arabia to groups directly involved with killing Westerners.

The Medieval East is the number one reason why the age of alternative energy can't arrive fast enough. And this is coming from someone who worries about climate change and my carbon footprint on a daily basis.

Oil prices have crashed because THEY have deemed it to happen. It is an effort to undercut our personal oil exploitation (fracking) and they are harming fracking a great deal.

So, it's oil. They have us 100% by the balls.

I agree, many Saudis support terrorism but not necessarily their government.Even if they were members of the royal family, they're not part of the government unless they hold an office there like a minister or an ambassador. I am sorry if this sounded like dodging, but I was merely talking about the government not the Saudi people as a whole.

Sure, but that's why I said at the very best they're being incredibly negligent by not finding out the terrorist supporter family members and cutting off their income and freezing their assets. That's on the Saudi government and in and of itself is worse than anything Iran is doing.

Citation needed on the first, and citation needed on how the fuck shia islam is as bad as wahhabism.

Because Obama is a muslim

I wonder how long the west could last and how fast we would adapt if we simply froze Saudi Arabia / foreign oil out.
