Screw Star Wars. Countdown to Batman Begins

I just got done reading a write up about this movie in USA Today, and while I knew the cast would be stellar (I think Christian Bale as Batman is going to be fantastic), I had no idea it would be this awesome. The only person in the entire thing that could ruin it is Katie Holmes. But you've got Batman as Christian Bale. Ken Watanabe from The Last Samurai is playing a smaller bad guy. Cillian Murphy from 28 Days Later is playing Scarecrow. Morgan Freeman is in it, Michael Caine is in it as Alfred. Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, Tom Wilkinson are all in it too.

All directed by Christopher Nolan, who's biggest film yet was Memento.

I saw the picture in the paper of Batman carrying a limp body of Katie Holmes out of some explosion. I cannot wait for this film.

I agree. I could not be more excited about a movie.

i concur. rather see the star wars thing

it's cuz the trailers aren't giving up any secrets about the plot of the movie. everyone is trying to keep it tight-lipped. Ultimately, you can never expect Batman to top Star Wars (EDIT: In terms of money made and people talking about it) because it's not getting the publicity that Star Wars has. But i'm willing to bet that by the time people go to buy these on DVDs, the average movie-goer will be happier with their copy of Batman Begins than they will be with RotS.

No, the average movie-goer will not be happy with Batman Begins because it's exactly like the comic as opposed to the previous movies. Comic book fans will LOVE Batman Begins, but it'll probably get a Hulk-style reaction from the average movie-goer.

No average movie-goer liked the previous movie. Batman Begins > Star Wars.

No. ManaByte is just making up stuff because Star Wars got insulted.

Nolan should edit out every single scene with Katie Holmes. :\

Her character is my least favorite part of the script. Take her out, I say!

That's a joke, right?

It may get a shit reaction, but it'll fucking destroy RotS in terms of quality. At least the most intolerable character in Batman won't be the star of the show.

Screw you guys, HULK is a good comic book film. It's certainly better on DVD; I've probably watched it more than my copies of the two X-Men films.

Umm, Ra's Al Ghul is far from a "smaller" bad guy...

I meant it in terms of scope of the movie. I don't think he's going to be the 'main' baddy in the flick. I'm probably wrong though.

they've hardly shown either of them in trailers, seems like the villains are taking a backseat to development & training & crap

The villains definitely take a backseat to Bruce Wayne and his evolution into Batman. You even see him initially fight crime without the cape and cowl, but Ra's Al Ghul is no second-tier villain. If anything, that's Carmine Falcon, the other villain not really feature in the trailers, who is the last of the old, true villains (a mob boss, no less), before Batman takes up residence and the costumed freaks known as his rogue gallery being to roam Gotham.

It's always an interesting thing -- did Batman cause the freaks or did the freaks cause Batman?

I was never even into the batman comics (More of an Xmen guy myself), but the way this movie is sounding, if its close enough to the old stories, i'd seriously consider checkin them out sometime.

regardless of what i don't know about this movie, though, I still think this casting job is going to prove to be amazing.

And if the acting is at all in doubt...

"Morgan Freeman, Ken Watanabe, and Liam Neeson turn in predictably strong performances. However, they are all surpassed by Batman who delivers an exceptional portrayal. He brings Christian Bale alive." - Newsweek

Can't wait!

Honest to God, that's how your posts read to me. I mean, I know what you're actually saying, but there is this.... aura... that consumes every word with stupidity.

oh, it could be really good. i'm not even trying to judge RotS here. I'm just saying that I think at the end of it all, Batman is going to far supercede Star Wars in all things but commercial success.

Wait, newsweek, and 2 posters on here? Doesn't Christian Bale become Batman? Because if Batman plays Christian Bale.. well.. *head explodes*

Heh, that was one of the better Batman TAS episodes.

I'm hoping that Episode 3 is a good flick...would be cool to see a Star Wars flick on the big screen for the first time, and that'll only happen if it's worth watching. But Batman Begins is a movie I've been waiting for since Mask of the Phantasm. Nothing I've seen shows it'll be anything less then a strong contribution to the Batman universe, in stark contrast to the previous live action flicks. How it does in the money stakes is of no concern to me...it'll big one of the big money earners regardless, so I'll let the bean counters and fanboys care about that. But for the record, I think War of the Worlds is gonna be the box office king this year.

Nope. Not a joke. Watch the trailer. You shall see. Way too many fuckin explosions. Another lame big budget summer film. *yawn*

...which is how Star Wars looks in trailers, yet you'd rather see that? Despite two weak shit entrys in the previous five years? Can't say that makes a lot of sense.

Is this really all you have to do with your time? Get a fucking life, let some rival movie hype flourish on the board.

Does anyone else think that the only reason they had Batman hanging upside down in the trailer was because it "worked" for Spider-Man?

Both movies are on my to see list.

But Revenge of the Sith looks to have more hype and is the movie I'm more interested in seeing right now because... well... its coming out ONE FULL MONTH before Batman.

As for comparing 'past' movies in each frachise, the last two Batman movies would make Episodes 1 and 2 look like gold. So yea, you just shot yourself in the head if you thought that was a good analogy. :lol

batman will be cool, rots will be cooler.

pt haters will be haters and will never be able to justify their hatred for the PT beyond irrational disdain. look, they are already to hate RotS without most even knowing they story. Keep hating.. the dumber you become about it the easier it is to tune you out.

:lol Yeah, because like the Star Wars prequels the same team that made Batman Begins also worked on the previous movies...oh wait, they didn't! Guess you're the one who shot your head off! :lol

A word of advice Dumb-ku...if you're gonna try to be a smart ass, try and remember the smart part.
