Salon reporter decides to do his own follow-up, calls each of the families, discovers that their stories were based on ignorance and fear of the new law; none of them had even tried to enroll or research their options. The reporter put their information into healthcare.gov and found that all of them would be better off under ACA.

I talked to someone who had some good ideas that should be in Obamacare. Turns out all of them actually were in Obamacare. This person is not a right-wing crazy and not uninformed. It's just that there is so much noise out there about the PPACA that the truth of the matter is not getting through.

This is where the IT failures is really hurting things. This is the time when people should be logging on and looking at reality instead of Hannity-Rush-Cruz scare stories. That's not happening because the gubment can't build a website.

In the extreme right's worldview, the American healthcare system is the best in the world and admitting that it needs changing at all is admitting defeat.

They've backed themselves into the corner of disavowing their own ideas (the ACA's ideas were touted by the Heritage Foundation and GOP as the alternative to universal healthcare under Clinton), so now they're left to criticize Obamacare relentlessly and put forth bullshit token ideas like "tort reform" that are nothing other than thinly-veiled corporate welfare.

Fox News does it all the time. As long as their audience believes them to be true, there are no repercussions to the channel itself, only more ratings since they can convince their audience that only they have the truth and that the other news sources are biased.

However, other news sources won't be able to get away with it as easily, since they don't have a cult-like following like the GOP does.

Yes. But what is really interesting is that nothing is ever going to happen to liars such as this. No one will do any thing about it because of some skewed interpretation of the "freedom of the press". Apparently, in some countries, lies are covered under constitutional means.

Hannity's show isn't a news program, he's commentary. He can do whatever he wants with no repercussions. If Brian Williams did this, he'd be fired and NBC would have to make all sorts of apologies and probably be open to a lawsuit.

Wasn't there a court case a while ago that decided that news stations don't actually have to provide facts? It was pretty shocking but I think that's what helps Fox do what they do.

For most of them, they're paying more through ObamaCare than they did previously and that's really all there is to it for them. And I can understand that really.
