Anyone ever play Master of Monsters on Genesis? Great music and addictive strategy game. The Playstation Master of Monsters sucked though.

Yes, yes, yes! Loved that game. I never owned it, but a friend down the road did. I tried to trade for it without luck. The local retro shop has it for $50 CIB; I need to pull the trigger on it.

After screwing with this avermedia extremecap u3 for literally a full day I've got it up and running. Really happy with the quality I can get out of it. This is running through the mini at 720p. The scanlines are actually intact with this unlike with the el gato game capture hd.

Baphomet, when you get the chance, check your PMs.

I feel so relieved. I was feeling all this pressure about the whole PVM thing but now I can just chill out and wait for the right one to pop up. I almost drove to Oakland to buy and then on a lark I just went to Goodwill.
PVM Genesis over RGB just changed my life, no joke. Will have to post some pics in the PVM thread later. Glad you are waiting for a 20 inch.

Soo.. it appears I hurt my back loading and unloading that CRT. LOL @ this comedy of errors I call a life. Be careful with those big boys!

damn, take it easy today Jwto - rest, ice (not directly on the skin, 15-20 minute intervals) and don't be too macho for the ibuprofen as it's more to let the inflamed nerves heal than the pain itself sometimes. tomorrow you switch the ice for heating pads, and if shit persists you see a doctor etc etc - rest up man!

I've picked up an original 1988 japanese model 1 Mega Drive, so freaking excited!
My cousin used to have one just like it way back when, which eventually became ours when he lost interest.

26 years of dust and grime haven't been kind to it, but it still was in rather excellent shape.
Tested it with The Super Shinobi on the standard composite cables in my HDTV. It looked absolutely terrible, and you still could not erase the grin on my face!

Have now spent a good chunk of time this weekend opening and reconditioning it back to top shape.
Will post some pictures once it's ready!

CRT's are just cumbersome to carry, like some strongman competition rock. I needed someone to help me move my 115 pound pvm in my apartment.

I wanted to sell this extra Megadrive on ebay. I'm pretty certain it's PAL, as when testing it, it had a flickering black and white display.

But what's the deal with the wire coming out of the back of the system?
It's coming out of a hole in the back of the unit.

Any details on this would be appreciated. Also wondering how much I should sell it for.

No idea. Almost looks like a built in rf. If I saw what it was actually connected to inside the console I could tell you.

How much are you wanting for the console? I'd be interested in it for like $30-35.

Could you take a picture of the back of the unit itself? Like where the wire comes out from. Crack that puppy open so we can see what the deal is with that wire. =)

That's a Japanese MegaDrive
Notice the colors and the switching lock on the power button

RF looks like that in France

Could be then. It won't fit an RF input on my CRT.

Yeah, that's about what I was hoping to get for it. Would you still be interested if we determined it to be French?

Here's the back.

Alright baphomet, I don't think there's anything I can do with it.
It has some scratching on the outside and about an inch of chipped plastic between the expansion bay and the corner of the system along line where the top and bottom parts of the system fit together. I can take more pictures if you're interested.

Hmm, I found a Mega Fire controller for $20... It's the one I had in childhood, should I bite? It seems like a lot for a controller... I do need more Mega Drive controllers though...

Expansion bay is fine. Looks like it just may have been dropped or something at some point in its life, or maybe occurred during whatever mod was made to it.

Damn, if it had been the bottom part I could have just swapped it with another console. Unfortunately this one would be more for display than actually playing so I'll have to pass. Otherwise its a good looking system.

Well, against my better judgment, went ahead and bought a six-button Genesis controller. The good kind, the MK-1653, not the third-party one or the one bundled with the Genesis 3. Only $10 total, including S&H, which is the cheapest I've ever seen these.

I really hope the D-Pad is better than the stock Genesis's, because it's one of my least favorite parts of the controller of late. It just feels so STIFF compared to the SNES or Saturn...
