Anyone own the Saturn version of Quackshot?

I wonder if the BGM queues up differently like Sonic Jam and the Thunderforce Gold Packs.

That's some motivation to finally get to the end of this magnificent game!

As a side note, It's one of the few game for which I greatly prefer the western cover art. It conveys a sense of adventures and mysteries, danger in exotic lands. The Japanese cover is more a happy-go-lucky "let's go on an adventure yippee!". The "Kirby frown" is deserved here.

The Japanese, European and American cartridges contain the same ROM. That means no region lock, every cartridge work on every console. Japanese consoles will get the story in Japanese though. PAL gamers can flick their 50/60Hz switch to play it at the proper speed.

This is great to hear considering I once again own the pal-version of the game.

Also, feels good to be mentioned as one of the people actually beating the game of the month. A first for me in the Mega Drive-thread!

I wonder if the Saturn version switches to English when played in a western console with an Action Replay? Like buggy Soukyugurentai Otokuyou. Otherwise, if you can't read Japanese, there's no much point in getting it, apart from collecting reasons.

Well characters give you clues about where to go and what to do next. Nothing blocking, but maybe a bit frustrating if you navigate blindly.

I just enjoy lore in my games, I got myself a translated Dynamite Headdy, even though you sure don't need to understand a word of it to get to the end, and the western releases got rid of it entirely.

[edit] Just reading the Intro, I'm just realising how weird it is to have a gang of Pete, with several Petes running aroung. I wonder why they didn't go with the Beagle Boys, who would fit perfectly in the narrative and the numbers. Pete is a Mouse villain, not a Duck villain :/

[edit] I suppose it make sense when taking into account the 50s cartoons only, and not the Barks comics which probably never got in Japan.

Awesome! An excuse to finish Quack Shot myself (one of the few games my younger Bro ate up while I'd be at work)!

Yeah, I always wondered why the Beagle Boys weren't the standard enemy, but then again, Pete has worked with them and even Magica De Spell apparently, so it could still have been him behind the scenes even with the Beagle Boys in the picture.

And on that last comment, maybe, but Osamu Tezuka sure knew about Carl Barks' work.

You'll probably die a bit and pick all the wrong stages your first time through.

Keep in mind there's a slide move if you don't have the manual.

The Maharajah palace is so annoying lol, I had been running around for so long before finding the correct door. At least there wasn't a timer.

Sounds good! Hoping my RGB cables arrive within the week so can finally see how Genesis looks beyond composite.

And got to love the shade thrown at Altered Beast at the end of that review, lol.

It's like living in the future. Mega Drive looks great on my BVM through RGB.

Also, Robocop Vs The Terminator arrived. Great game, I enjoy the shooting mechanics and the variation in weapons. Pretty difficult though, and I haven't completed it yet. You're pretty boned if you lose your weapons in the later levels.

i brought quackshot today! post haul later =)

edit:
for 25 bucks (posted in retroGAF) got a non-TMSS High Definition Graphics Genesis Model 1 (now i have a TMSS version and a non-TMSS both high definition model 1's )

For some reason I thought your Genesis had a Windows sticker on it. It annoyed me more than it should have :/

I asked my Ukrainian co-worker about the Russian hack for Duke Nukem 3D for Mega Drive/Genesis. I had him read the box to find out for me if anything on it mentioned licensing and he said it says licensed by Tec Toy, but due to Russia's piss-poor acknowledgement for international copyright, could just be flavor text.

Another reason why Sega of America sucked. They couldn't bring that westward?

I'll be back! Actually, I won't be to the non arcade game. I forgot how truly godawful and borderline unplayable that paperweight of a "game" is. Can't even get the clothes, boots, and motorcycle from that greasy dude from Little Caesar.

Also ordered the Japanese version of Quack Shot.

Huh. So I was playing some Quakeshot for the monthly thing and I'm also starting to record some HQ footage while I'm at it. I've never actually played my Genesis on anything but a CRT and now I'm realizing I have 99 problems and Jail bars IS one.

If you can, please take a quick glance at this capture. I'm pretty damn sure what I'm seeing are "Jail Bars"

Is your scart cable composite video or composite sync? Also what's with the colors flickering towards the end of the vid? What you could do is in AmaRecTV go to device setting(in graph 1), video pro amp and set sharpness to 255, it helps me get rid of jail bars as well.

My scart cable is C-sync from Retro_Console_accessories. The colors flickering at the end are actually how that game fades out to the SEGA logo during the demo's.

I'll try playing around with the sharpness. I lifted pin 6 and grounded it on the video chip which I read was hit or miss for fixing the jailbars. It didn't fix it.

I'm going to cut the RGB lines and pull them right from the encoder when I have some time. see if that fixes it.

You should try the sharpness thing as soon as possible, it helped with my SNES.
