They are worth every penny. I too collect CIB but the convenience of the ED is unbeatable. Not to mention all the cool home brew and rom hacks.

The everdrive 64 is expecially exciting with the recently discovered ability to remove the filters!
Yep.

I can use the no AA patch for N64 games. And mine just shipped now!

Yeah, its way to slow. Definitely a better idea than execution on this one.

I know it's slow, but it never bothered me. It was part of the game play to me and never thought to myself because it was slow I didn't like it.

That being said, it's one of my all time favorite games ever and I don't tire of it for some reason.

I just completed it a few days ago, and i kinda like it, but think it has a lot of unrealised potential unfortunately. Glad you love it though!

Well, I have a Everdrive 64 now, but it doesn't work with any SD card I used so I'm getting a replacement.

hahaha

i was looking at genesis outrunners... curious if it's good.

Genesis Outrunners is really bad compared to the impressive arcade version. The home version has a forced splitscreen even in singleplayer and so little roadside detail it destroys the graphical showcase the arcade version is. The way the arcade game scales, rotates and almost works like how a 3D racer would is incredible. It's arguably one of the most advanced 2D games impersonating 3D imo.

1. X-men 2 Clone Wars

The X-Men engage in a battle so world-threatening, even Magneto switches sides! Mutantkind races to the edge of oblivion at the hands of an evil techno-bio cloning organism... the Phalanx! Be Wolverine, Cyclops, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Beast, Psylocke and for the first time ever... play as Magneto! X-Men are at their fiercest with Cyclops' optic blast, Wolverine's slashing adamantium claws and Gambit's hyper-charged cards! Use each mutant's super-powered attack to defend the world!

2. Road Rash 2

Road Rashing isn't just a sport. It's an attitude! Road Rash II is the ultimate 2-player racing game with a radically unique split-screen for distinguishing between racers. Cruising cross-country was never this hairy! Spectacular new body-torquing wipe outs! More obstacles to crash into than ever before. Terrorize your opponents on 5 new tracks, each with 5 different levels. Swing a steel chain for some real heavy metal damage! 15 brand new, lightning-fast cycles, including nitro-equipped Super-Bikes!

3. Bio Hazzard Battle

A global biological war has utterly changed the surface of the planet Avaron. The last human survivors must fly their Bioships to Avaron and search for a safe place to build a colony. You must face all kinds of strange creatures in your search for a new home. To the Bioships!

4. Rolo to the Rescue

Rolo to the Rescue is about a young elephant who is trying to rescue his mother from the circus. Rolo also saves his animal friends along the way, and each animal has a special ability that is needed to successfully reach the end of each level. For example, the rabbit is able to jump very high, the squirrel can climb, the mole can dig, and the beaver can swim.

5. Desert Strike: Return to the Gulf

The Scuds are back! With a fiery blast from your Hellfire missiles you must annihilate a ruthless tyrant's military arsenal. Smoke his private yacht and tear into his air force as you challenge the Madman's forces in a series of surgical strikes. Rip through 27 fiery missions. Force is highly recommended.

I had a fucking hell of a time with my super ever drive. Even the SD cards from my ed64 and mega ever drive v3 wouldn't work. I eventually found a card from an old phone just big enough for the complete NA collection that worked.

And what might this card be? Since I'm paranoid I'm just gonna stick with the intended SD card from the seller SAG for now.

Was wondering where this thread was hiding... I need to check Community more often :p I beat Quackshot earlier in the year and it was a pretty good game - some nice level designs, good graphics, a decent level of challenge. But the music was a bit dull and it could have really used a password/save feature, since it's a bit longer than most platformers of the time.

How is World of Illusion? I beat both Castle of Illusion and Quackshot, that's the next Disney game I'm interested in on the system (just, can never find a quality cib copy).

I haven't played it since it originally came out, but it's generally regarded as one of the better platform games on the system. The graphics (and especially the animation) are pretty phenomenal for the time.

I think its great because of the 2 player option, but find it a bit dull in singleplayer honestly. Definitely worth a playthrough in coop though!

Edit: Tons of great choices this month, but had to vote Desert Strike since I nominated it!

Went with
Bio-Hazard Battle, as we haven't had a shooter yet on Game of the Month

Still have to play Quackshot, I have a copy sitting on my shelf, but have been so busy with works and personal issues that I haven't had time for any gaming except finally finishing Uncharted 4 (Turns out I was about 1 hour away from the end, haha).

Not much of a challenge. Really shines in coop though, a great game to introduce gaming to someone and having fun together.

Opinions on Power Instinct on the Mega Drive, guys?
Assuming it's MD or bust (I don't own a Super Famicom, unfortunately), is the port still decent to play? Judging it from YouTube footage, audio sounds pretty rough and visuals seem a bit of a mixed bag (in some places, it looks almost on par with the SF version, in others... Not so much), but it doesn't feel terrible at all, in motion.

Edit - ...aaand bought it anyway. Too good a deal to pass up - 100 euros plus shipping, for a complete copy (it came with registration card too), pretty much in mint conditions - and according to HG101, MD port is technically inferior to the SNES' one, but it plays just as well.

I ended up playing some more Shining in the Darkness this afternoon, and over the course of a couple hours, I finished another whole level of the dungeon: The Cave of Truth.

KgoSwvo.jpg

Near the end I came across a monster pretending to be the trapped princess. Of course, considering there's very clearly much more game to go, you have to assume that this is a decoy...

And sure enough after freeing her (Using a scary looking "False Idol"), she turns into a big golem boss. Of course I'm still kinda overleveled and equipped with really good armour/weapons, so the boss went down really easily.

This game continues to be great, but I think I can only put in a few hours every couple weeks, or else you get burnt out REALLY fast.

So holy shit.

I was listening to the Devilish/Bad Omen OST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqJQxWgOjJo

Absolutely freaking incredible. The stage 7 theme is unreal.

Need more god-tier Genesis music.

Have you heard Gauntlet IV or Rolling Thunder 3's soundtrack? Also FINALLY someone recognizes Devilish's OST.

https://youtu.be/w61pqM4WI2o from Gauntlet IV. Hitoshi Sakimoto is a master of any platform he touches. I'd really like to see him and Yuzo collab on an new FM soundtrack for an RPG. Would be insane.

When I heard Devilish stage 2, I thought of that Gauntlet IV song.
Heh. G4 was one of the first games M2 developed. That's pretty crazy.

Got bored this Sunday afternoon and bought the compilation Megagames I, with Columns, Super Hang-On, and a football game. I don't like collecting compilations, but this one I like, for some reason. I suppose it's iconic, has good presentation and contains quality games. A friend had it back in the days and we mainly played the football game, while we thought Hang-On was super hard and Columns was boring. We knew nothing. I know I'll spend most of my time on Columns now.
