The first two of these are in English right?

Do I need to play the 3 Trails games with Estelle first?

Cold Steel 1 and 2 are in English.

I don't think it's necessary to play the Sky games first (I haven't played CS1 or 2 though), but it would be recommended. It adds some details for those games, and Cold Steel will spoil a lot of FC and SC.

I really need to get on CS I and II. They've just been sitting in their box on my shelf waiting, glaring at me judgmentally...

Kind of a shame since I like playing RPGs more on hand helds, but I mean, I'll still buy like 2 copies plus the OST and an art book or two so I guess they got me there.

You can understand Cold Steel without them, but they're all great games that you should play as well, and they do link together as part of the broader narrative.

But you can play Cold Steel first and then go back to the Sky games if you really want to play the newer ones. Or play the Sky games first and then move onto the Cold Steel games. Falcom did create Cold Steel as a new jumping on point for the series.

, and Cold Steel will spoil a lot of FC and SC.

I don't really think so. A couple of things, maybe. But a lot of the stuff that Cold Steel spoils is stuff that you'd only really notice if you've played FC and SC. Otherwise, it's just another bit of reference to stuff you haven't seen, no different to the thousand other library books, NPC conversations, or various scenes of characters talking about past events.

And I think most of the important stuff from FC/SC isn't even touched on in CS at all.

Looks like Sara is back in action :)

But those legs... Did she go on a Hollywood diet or something?

You really should just jump in..

Alright I have the first Estelle Trails game so I'll see to resuming that then.

Thanks.

I'm considering buying a pstv so I can play the first two. Veterans of these games which is the better series cold steel or in the sky?

Oh shoot I just realized that I never played Cold Steel 1 or 2! I still really want to and I was going to get the Vita versions but now I'm not sure. Maybe PS3?

Toval was the weakest link of the guest characters in II, especially when you compare him to Sharon.

Hopefully Millium died off screen and won't be back in this one.Please.

PS3 versions load faster and look a little better, but they are almost the same outside of that...

I bought them on Vita because I prefer to play long jrpgs on the road.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
So is that Ordis in green hair girl screenshot?

PS3 versions are better from a technical perspective, whereas the Vita versions have the advantage of portability. Ultimately a matter of preference.

Seems getting the Lionheart Edition of CS I on Vita for a good price on Amazon is still possible, but no longer the case for the PS3 version. The PS3 one can still be ordered for cheaper than the Vita one from GameStop, though.

Expect a brand new child-like female character for the cast to have an ambiguous relationship with. This is the law in Japanese media these days, and especially for Falcom.

CSII Ourouboros spoiler
How convenient that they can be produced in the black workshop. They basically have an in universe factory for this character type. :-x
Forgot about that sequence.
Better to make a gif of that scene so you never forget again :-x

Hurrah for no longer constraining you're obviously console type rpg for the sake of a handheld! This however mean no excuses for slowdown this time around!!

T.T Thanks for your optimism. My tolerance for this kind of content is getting thinner as I get older.

This is dumb. If you're going to go PS4 exclusive, do it at the start of a new trilogy.

They can always port the two other to PS4. I mean with Trails in the Sky they went PC -> PSP -> PS3 -> Vita so they clearly not against porting their games.

All 3 Trails in the Sky game are available on PC, PSP, PS3, and Vita.

Both Crossbell games are available on PSP and Vita.

No platforms were previously left behind. This will be the first time in Kiseki history where two games are on some platforms, and the third game is on a totally different platform.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
Holy crap...i am looking through these screenshots and they look like HUGE upgrades compared to the previous games...and it looks to be the same engine as well? Holy crap. And i thought Tokyo Xanadu EX was going to be the highest level we could expect, this looks much better than that

They are all good but Sky imho is better. Estelle is awesome.
I think they do different things better

I like Steel's setting, battle system, and music a lot more

Sky has the better characters and a slightly better story

CS1 is about 15-20 hours longer than it needs to be, CS2 is about 30 hours longer than it needs to be. Wonder how much padding CS3 will have.

I see there is no

Hopefully it isn't as ludicrously slow as the rest of the series.

Considering it is Trails, it will be. Expecting anything more is asking for too much.

Modern development costs PS4 vs Vita. Padding will cost so much more (with less sales, probably) that either they're blowing all their money or they'll finally figure out a properly paced version.

Or I dunno pad it to hell and back and con Sony into paying.

As someone who got on the Legend of Heroes train this year, my body is ready for this!!!

Since the first two cold steel games were on PS3, I guess there wont be any save transfers anymore :(

Maybe they'll do something like in witcher and Mass effect where you can select the major choices you made in previous games.

Or...the plot twist is that save transfers wont matter since Rean won't be the major protagonist for the whole game :p
